Will Corum injury affect playoff seeding?
So with the tragic news of Corum's season ending surgery, how will the playoff committee view UM without their best player? The committee has said previously that they take injuries into account in their ranking. Any chance his injury causes us to drop even if we beat Purdue?

I don’t know man, his two runs for six yards really opened up the pass game for us

Not with how we whooped OSU without him, and certainly not to 4, so no difference.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:04 PM ^
If Michigan wins, they’re 2. No matter what.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
*at least 2
Georgia hasn’t won the SEC in half a decade
December 1st, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
Didn't keep us from beating the #2 team in the country, so probably no change.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
Top 4 is locked if they all win. We proved agains OSU that we can still win a big game without our best player. We just have to adapt and play the type of game we are capable of.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
I highly doubt it, especially considering his backup ran for 216 yards vs OSU last week and very well might have another big game 2 days from now.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
Yes. They'll bump us to #1 after what Edwards did to Ohio State.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
Considering we just dominated the #2 team on the road without him, while our back-up RB was wearing a fucking cast on his dominant hand, i'd say the impact is somewhere between zero and -1
December 1st, 2022 at 3:06 PM ^
Lemme think about that for a minute or so......
December 1st, 2022 at 4:24 PM ^
Who does #2 (seed) work for?

I am not a number! I am a free man!

Sure would like to see CJ Stokes with a few more reps this Saturday
December 1st, 2022 at 11:30 PM ^
He’s going to get a lot of run in practice the next month. Hopefully that extra time and coaching will payoff and he’ll be a capable backup to Edwards. I’m really hoping they get a game plan going to really involve Edwards in the passing game if we do in fact meet Georgia again. His ultimate ‘form’ as a running back is Reggie Bush IMO. We will see if he gets there.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:07 PM ^
No because our “backup” torched OSU and left Brutus like
December 1st, 2022 at 3:08 PM ^
Probably not. But that ultimately might be decided by our performance against Purdue. If our Corum-less offense looks as good as it did against OSU, we're fine.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
Can’t say I expect it to look THAT good
But that comes with the assumption that Purdue has a DC with at least a modicum of understanding of how football is played and isn’t just a scarecrow in a sweatshirt who calls punt block as his base defense like last week
December 1st, 2022 at 3:09 PM ^
Assuming UM beats Purdue and Georgia doesn't lose UM is locked in at #2 and at worse they'd be knocked down to #3, which is functionally the same. So no, can't see this changing anything.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:10 PM ^
Well Tennessee is still #7 after losing Hooker. Michigan has Edwards backing up Corum. Tennessee has...Joe Milton.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:10 PM ^
We just had the best win of the CFB season by any team, and did it without Corum.
So...NO.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:10 PM ^
"The committee has said previously that they take injuries into account in their ranking."
Based on what you said above, I suppose it's possible. I, however, doubt it.

Ask Dennis Franklin.

Glad the Big Ten can't vote Ohio State into the playoffs
December 1st, 2022 at 3:15 PM ^
It would matter at the margins. Michigan is far enough ahead of TCU that it won't matter, especially as they already beat Ohio State without him.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:15 PM ^
If UM wins on Saturday, they will be no worse than the #2 seed.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:15 PM ^
What kind of question is this
December 1st, 2022 at 3:16 PM ^
I always took that to mean that they would excuse a loss or poor performance if a starter was out, not that it was forward looking/punitive.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:20 PM ^
Drop behind who? We have the best win of the year and we did it without Corum
December 1st, 2022 at 3:21 PM ^
Nope. We kicked OSU's ass without him, and this should not affect our seeding.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:22 PM ^
No.
They don't take injuries into account for games not yet played, they only take injuries into account regarding past games played.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
A reasonable question, but we jut thumped the hell out of the #2 team on the road without him. We'll probably stay at #2.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Based on the current trend, Harbaugh will go to Oakland, Sainraistil will punch an old lady, McCarthy will get hit by a bus while meditating, and a forklift will run over Mike Morris's leg. I'm worried. The universe doesn't want a Michigan Naty. Maybe a Michigan natty starts world war 3 and MSU time travelers from the future will do anything to stop it. Not because they care about WW3, but bc there's no more couches left to burn in 2045.

I swear to god if the new Cinci coach is Minter.....
December 1st, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Not liking that the WR coach at OSU was tweeting out he has no interest in the Cincinnati job.

This comment made me think so hard of the the Simpson’s episode Homer at the Bat. “Shave those side burns Mattingly!” Ken Griffeys severely swollen jaw. Boggs is knocked out by Barney during a bar fight at Moe's (over a disagreement on whether Lord Palmerston or Pitt the Elder was the best British Prime Minister), Ozzie Smith falls off the face of the earth, Clemens literally becomes a chicken, Canseco retrieving an entire homes worth of things from a fire.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
If we win, no. Our back-up just ran for 200+ in the Toilet Bowl.
It sucks to lose Corum. I get it. But all hope is not lost, and if you think about wanting to put a positive on this, this is a trial run for Edwards in being able to handle the load next Fall, as well as Stokes learning the ropes and hopefully working his way up to becoming our next Haskins.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:38 PM ^
I'm 45.23% sure the answer is no.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
If we win were 1 or 2, also we beat tf out of osu without Corum.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:41 PM ^
Dennis Franklin Pt. 2? We did fine last week. Heal up Blake you have the community wishing you all the success.
December 1st, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
Seriously?
December 1st, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
We didn’t need him to beat OSU. That’s your answer
December 1st, 2022 at 4:23 PM ^
And, the week before, it was Jake Moody who beat Illinois.

This is classic Harbaugh ! Clean the knee up and be back in 3 weeks like Mario Manningham was .
