Which player are you most excited to see on the field Saturday?
I saw it posted on twitter that Milton has 3 games left before his redshirt will be burned, so I thought of the players that may see the field. Freshmen or others, I am looking forward to seeing a RB that has potential to fill the void that will be leaving after this year.
Go Blue!

I actually really want to see Peters behind a strong O line. Might surprise some people.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
Agree.
In an ideal world I’d like to see us take a 21-0 lead in the first, pull Shea and give Peterson 2 complete quarters to run the offense. Then give Milton the 4th quarter. It’s college football and I firmly believe in taking nothing for granted so maybe it’s a game like SMU where we had to keep the starters in almost the whole time, but I hope not.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^
I want to see this too, but I have a feeling we're going to basically run Down G every play. Even if Peters gets two quarters, does he even throw 10 passes?
November 7th, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
If we're up by 4 scores in the first half, the playcalling will go vanilla quickly. Do you remember how many times we threw the ball in the second half against Rutgers in 2016? It was 3 times. And that was after a pass-happy (/s) 12 throws in the first half.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
I don't know, I think when we're up 4 scores they might let the 2nd/3rd string guys get loose with it. Good game experience if they're ever needed.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:08 AM ^
If you play Milton in this game, you're getting him some valuable experience at the cost of losing one game of the Milton package. Apparently Harbaugh thinks enough of said package to have used it during the Wisconsin game. I'm expecting Milton's next action to be at OSU.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:22 AM ^
I want to see Peters and Milton play in this game, but I don't see any way Shea gets pulled before halftime. Coaches are going to want to keep our first team offense progressing in game reps and there are plenty of plays that can and will be called to keep Shea safe.
To answer the question though, I agree on the RB take even though I think Evans and Wilson will be a fine combo next year. Would really like to see some of our younger DBs get some good game reps. Our DBs right now are running the WR routes for them and I would really like to see this continue in the future.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:18 PM ^
Normally I'd agree but... 1, Rutgers is weaker than Michigan's scout team. First team reps/plays against them don't gain much of anything in experience. 2, with the recent loss of the #2 QB, you have to get the other QB's in the game. For a first experience of the season, even Rutgers will help. Plus do it again against Indiana if they get a decent lead
November 7th, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
Agree. I'd like to see a considerable amount of Peters running the offense and not just handing off. Get him some snaps so he can build some confidence in case we need him.
November 7th, 2018 at 12:34 PM ^
What games can he use to burn a red shirt? If he can play in the Championship rounds, I wonder if it wouldn't be wise to save two of those games for then. Mobile quarterbacks are going to be a positive, at least going against Alabama
November 7th, 2018 at 6:19 PM ^
If we need him in the Championship rounds, he will be used.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
I'd like to see Milton not used at all against Rutger and Indiana. He should only be insurance in the games that follow. If the goal is to preserve his redshirt.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:32 AM ^
That's my first thought, too. I'd like to see Brandon get some quality reps.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:09 PM ^
Aaaand... end thread.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:25 PM ^
I agree, it is sad that peters is viewed so negatively based on last year's performance. Our OL last year vs. this year is night and day. Even Tom Brady needs a serviceable line to be effective.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:51 PM ^
Peters for the entire second half would be nice.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
Ambry Thomas on d. He’s going to be one of the most important players that needs to step up next season if all 3 corners are gone.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:42 AM ^
Absolutely agree about Ambry and maybe even some Myles Sims. Though, I think Long stays so Sims getting game action now is less important than Ambry getting solid run.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:19 AM ^
Definitely want to see Milton show off that arm - I'm most excited to see if Welschoff gets some playing time. He fascinates me. Oh, also Mustapha!
November 7th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
Mainly:
Peters - for obvious reasons
Samuels/Turner - love to see some RB preview for next year
Pure curiosity:
all the Backup O-Line
Would love to see Donovan Jeter get some run.
finally the backup Linebackers and DB's would be great to see them out on the field as well as they haven't gotten much run this year.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
Agree with Samuels/Turner.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:27 AM ^
Maybe some Michael Barrett, Sims, and Green Bros
November 7th, 2018 at 11:28 AM ^
Jeter has played quite a lot of garbage time this year.
November 7th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Disagree re backup o-line. Need to keep Peters and/or Milton healthy.
November 8th, 2018 at 2:28 PM ^
Once we get ahead comfortably I'd like to see most of the starting D off the field, especially Devin Bush who has been out there late 4th quarter in blowouts several times. This really annoys me. Last week he made a flying open field hit in the 4th and I cringed. The guy only knows one speed and there is just no reason for him to be out there. Plus, there are some young linebackers who could use the morale boost to get some playing time.
Ditto Long, Hill, Kinnel, and Metellus.
Remember though our roster will be limited for a road game.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
FB Traps with walk ons. I love a good call-back
November 7th, 2018 at 10:23 AM ^
Art Sitkowski, he of the 2/16 for 8 yards with 4 INTs box score against Maryland. Our defense will be having some fun when he's on the field.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:30 AM ^
For the offense, I want to see Peters and Turner get some good runtime, maybe some time with the other one's out there. If Shae goes down for a few plays (God forbid anything longer), I want to have confidence in him like I would've had in McCaffrey. Need to see some redemption after that bowl game debacle. And Turner would be a fun watch as he's the heir-apparent to Higdon and would be the likely character opposite Evans in the backfield. We know that Wilson is good, but I think the athletic upside of Turner might be the better upside.
For defense, seeing some of Thomas and St. Juste would be fun, along with Cam McGrone and Jordan Anthony. Would also like to see Luigi Villain get some playing time. He seems to have dropped off the radar - haven't seen or heard from him since Spring camp. It's been two years now, getting late real early if he keeps being injured...
November 7th, 2018 at 10:54 AM ^
St Juste and Villain are both out this year.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:59 AM ^
Shae Patterson is the new Jake Ruddock.
It's not that hard, I swear. Shea stadium, shea butter, Shea Patterson.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
And that old Lionel Richie song, as sung by Sean Connery - "Shea You, Shea Me."
I'll show myself out ...
November 10th, 2018 at 6:49 AM ^
Nice.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:04 AM ^
I'm also curious to see more of McGrone. He was ranked a 5 star on 247 and we had the luxury of redshirting him because our LB core has been pretty solid. On defense, I would also love to see more of Woods as a potential Viper, JKP at S, Thomas, Gray, and Sims at CB.
On offense, I want to see more of Mayfield, Steuber, Spanellis, Filiaga, Hayes, Muhammad, Peters, Turner, Samuels, Barrett, Haskins, Van Sumeran, Bell, and Martin.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:12 AM ^
Isn't St. Juste out for the season?
November 7th, 2018 at 10:35 AM ^
The Rutgers QB, literally on the field, on his back.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:41 AM ^
Peters - Want to see the floor in case the worst happens and Shea gets hurt
Mayfield, Steuber, Spanellis - Preview of next year for the tackles, just want to see Spanellis get some time because I like him.
Villain - Getting late early. Hopefully he's not banged up again
Anthony - He'll almost certainly be a big part next year but we know next to nothing about him.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:05 AM ^
Vilain is out for the year.
November 7th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
Well fuck. I remember he had knee surgery, I didn't know it was season ending.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:38 AM ^
Ulizio was in at LT at the end of PSU; Mayfield was not. I presume they are redshirting Mayfield (now that Runyon has solidified the spot) and he won’t see a fifth game this year.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
Brandon Peters. This means we are up by a lot and he gets some PT. Milton does not have to play. I think they should sit Gary this week and any other starter they can if they get up big early
November 7th, 2018 at 11:00 AM ^
They will not sit Rashan Gary in his final collegiate game in New Jersey unless he is physically unable to play.
November 7th, 2018 at 2:29 PM ^
I agree they won't but they should. They should at least really limit him if that shoulder is still questionable at all.
November 7th, 2018 at 11:01 AM ^
They're not going to sit Gary in his hometown......If any starter needs to play this week it's Gary. He needs to get back to his level before going into Columbus
November 7th, 2018 at 2:31 PM ^
I don't believe Gary needs much PT to get to his level just health. He will have the Indiana game to do this as well.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
Truuuuuuuuuuu
November 7th, 2018 at 10:49 AM ^
This may sound like an attempt at humor, but I had really been hoping for a glimpse at Kurt Taylor in a Tru Wilson-like role.
Also Peters with a better OL and the other RS-Frosh/sophomore RB, and OT/OLinemen
November 7th, 2018 at 1:20 PM ^
Buddy,,, I got some bad news for you
November 7th, 2018 at 10:50 AM ^
Arthur Sitkowski
November 7th, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
We need to see Brandon Peters more than Milton, actually. Since Dylan is out for the season, Brandon needs to prepare as much as possible in case Shea goes down.
November 7th, 2018 at 10:57 AM ^
Black & Peters.
