What games today impact our bowl opponent/ destination?

What games today help decide our bowl opponent/ destination? What is most likely outcome? When do we find out?

There's a really good chance Utah ends up in the Cotton Bowl.  The Cotton Bowl has to pick the highest-ranked team in the CFP poll not selected for the CFP, Orange, Rose or Sugar.  That's Utah, Alabama, Auburn, and maybe the Big 12 loser (if Georgia gets in ahead of the Big 12 winner).

Utah probably won't drop out of the top 8, and Alabama and Auburn seem unlikely to pass them.

Georgia vs LSU will likely have a big impact on Michigan's Bowl destination.  If Georgia beats LSU, and then also makes the playoffs,  it means that Florida will be heading to the Sugar Bowl and the Orange Bowl will choose either PSU or Wisconsin (Whichever is not in the Rose). This outcome would mean that the Citrus Bowl would not be able to select a Big Ten Team, making the Holiday Bowl the likeliest destination.

If Chalk holds, it will come down to Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota for the Citrus.   Minnesota didn't draw well last time they were there, Wisconsin hasn't played there in awhile, and Michigan was recently there.  At this point it is probably 50/50 between the Citrus and the Holiday Bowl.

The Gator Bowl is a "Possibility" but that would require the Holiday Bowl to pass on Michigan, which is highly unlikely.

Yep--I think this is 100 percent correct.

LSU wins?  Citrus Bowl vs Alabama (or maybe Auburn if Alabama selected for Cotton Bowl)

Georgia wins?  Holiday Bowl vs USC (or maybe Washington or even Arizona State or Cal if Utah selected for Cotton Bowl).

A quick summary of how I get there--

LSU wins:  OSU, LSU, Clemson, B12 winner to playoff.  PSU or Wisconsin to Rose, Georgia to Sugar, Florida to Orange.  Cotton picks highest ranked of PSU/Wisconsin, Alabama, Auburn, Utah.  I assume that will be Utah but you never know.

Georgia wins:  OSU, LSU, Clemson, Georgia to playoff.  PSU or Wisconsin to Rose, Florida to Sugar, PSU or Wisconsin to Orange.  Cotton picks highest ranked of Alabama, Auburn, Utah, Oklahoma/Baylor loser.  I assume that will be Oklahoma or Baylor but you never know.  Alamo picks next highest ranked P12 team, which would be Utah (if they're not in the Cotton) or USC (if Utah is in the Cotton).  Holiday picks next, which would probably be Washington, ASU or Cal if USC goes to the Alamo.

I would like to play Alabama as long as our guys decide to play in the bowl (sounds like they will). No Tua, this would definitely give us a chance to win and put a feather in our cap on the recruiting trail. It could be a big opportunity.

Oregon defeating Utah last night was possibly very consequential for who we will face in the Holiday Bowl. Given how bad Utah looked (and that they have no ranked wins), I would think they will plummet (Alabama did last week for much less), meaning they will push USC out of the Alamo Bowl and into the Holiday Bowl.

I think USC vs. Michigan would be a great matchup for the Holiday Bowl and much rather would have that than another stupid bowl in Florida.

I'd love to see Michigan vs. any of these teams:  Alabama, Auburn, USC.  Would be fine with Utah as well, but that seems less likely.
