To watch the Final Four or not?

Submitted by Jobu on
Am I off base or crazy for not being that interested in the Final Four anymore?

We lost a heartbreaker today plus I only have 1/4 of the Final Four correct.

Does anyone else not have much of an interest in it after today's game? May hurt watching.

To add to that, it seems like UM seems to always run into a guy that shoots lights out against us: Donald Williams, Luke "40 year old virgin" Hancock, and now Aaron Harrison...

To answer the OP's question. Yes I will watch but not with the screaming I did during our game.

Winning the Big Ten Championship means something. I want a Big Ten team to win the National Championship too.

On Wisconsin. Fuck the SEC.

I'll probably end up watching Wisconsin vs Kentucky, should be a good game. I'd prefer if Wisconsin won, but at this point, I don't care that much either way.

Probably a stupid question, but who would be our starting center next year assuming mcgary leaves? I mean I think horford is too thin among other things to legitimately be our starter. What other bigs would we rely on? Is donnal (sp) big enough and capable enough to do what Morgan and mcgary can do?

Yes, I'll watch. I'm not so butthurt that I'll refuse to watch college basketball's biggest stage.

seems I'm never completely happy about reffing, and then there's all the bixing about reffing I hear from people on all sides, game in and game out. This is a field of endeavor in which I don't know whether to believe my lieing eyes or not. Could reffing possibly be as bad as people say it is year in and year out without affecting the integrity of the game? I always feel partly like a fool to give in to caring about the outcome of a form of sports in which refs play such a major role, but then M starts to put something together and I get caught up in it year after year. The indefinably elastic role refs play in the whole bit makes the outcomes seem almost dreamlike and surreal to me. The only part of it that seems for real is the fact that people on both sides of almost every game will be railing about the distortion of the natural outcome of the game by reffing perfidy. After Tennessee, I went to some Tennessee blogs on a schadenfreude safari. It came as an initial surprise to me that they thought refs had ruined the game for them. There was rueful embarrasment over the out-of-bounds call, which they considered payback for a full first half of reffing bias and stupidity. There was unanimous outrage over J-Mo drawing the charging foul. After reading all this, I decided to take a step back from the narrative of dirty teams gaming the system by building their gameplan around copious fouling and getting away with it, because it appears that no one is ever happy about the refs, myself included. For the time being, I'm considering this an existential and not an institutional problem.

That is the plain and honest fact of the matter. Sure, some fans will always complain no matter what or want every call to go their team's way even if it isn't the right call. Tennessee fans complaining about that  call even though it was a textbook charge is an example of that.

In general though, many people like myself, would be satisfied if they actually showed the ability to call games in a consistent and objective manner, without being influenced in a significant way by things such as homecourt advantage, angry coaches, etc.

Basketball officials also tend to have larger impact on the ebb and flow of the game compared to other sports. When you combine that fact, with them doing a substandard job on a consistent basis, it is no suprise it results in pissed off fans.

I was sitting in seventh with six people in front of me choosing Sparty to win. All I needed was the boys to beat Kenfucky and I was assured first place and $1,000. I still have a chance for $100, but it would have been great to sit and watch Michigan play Wisky with a grand in my pocket.

Double indigestion...

No reason to watch the absolute joke of a game that basketball has become. When a 180 man using an elbow is deemed more harmful than a 225-250 pound man lowering the shoulder that's when it has crossed the line for me. Off to baseball.

I'd be perfectly fine with any of the other 3 winning. Plus I really hope the moron who got the "Kentucky 2014 National Champions" tattoo earlier this year is confirmed as a moron instead of a propher

Even in all those years when we didn't sniff the Tournament, I would watch simply because I enjoy college basketball and am a student of the game. Most years, this is perhaps the single most consistently entertaining exhibition in sports at any level and it can hold my interest whether or not we're in it, althought admittedly it is a bit more interesting when we are in it. Actually, it makes for much easier viewing if you don't have a dog in the fight, as it were, but all that being said, I wouldn't be upset if I had to miss a game for whatever reason at this point.

Who wins then watch. I never watch a game if I don't care who wins. I'm one of those weird people in today's society that thinks winning is the point if playing. I won't watch because I don't care who wins. Still a good season for us, but college sports end for me when Michigan. is done. If you choose to watch, great. I hope it's fun

I can get on with my existence, breathe. Will probably peek in on the proceedings, but--maybe I'm getting old--I don't get real excited about other teams.

It will undoubtedly be a UK/UF final. I'd bet my life on it. And on the basis, you can be assured of a Wiscy/UConn final -- which is must watch television.

Of course I'll watch.

There are 64 teams no longer playing, so they should all pout and go home?  The single elimination is what makes the NCAA Tournament so compelling.  We were all part of that marvelous show.

Yes, we should watch.  We deserve to watch.

Calipari is a pariah for college hoop so I don't want to see his face anymore. I really thought Sparty was going to win it all and imagine the amount of insufferable BS we would have to listen to after them winning the Rose Bowl, the BTT, and the NC. So I'm glad they lost to UConn. Our club is better than Wiscy, don't want to see Count Chocula lift a trophy with Brust by his side.

I've already invested too much "tube time" in watching the tournament. I'll be traveling on Saturday anyway, so I won't have a chance --- nor will I care --- much about what the teams do. If the Badgers make it into the finals I'll probably watch, but a Florida/UConn - Kentucky matchup will not be all that attractive.

I was hopeful about the refs after watching a number of games in the first two rounds.  They all called the game pretty well.  Now we get to the finals and they bring in the "best" and they are terrible.

Can't really stand any of the teams.  Want all of them to lose.  As that is impossible, I can only be disappointed at the outcome, so why bother?  I do want KY to lose most of all; as someone else pointed out, they epitomize everything that is wrong with college basketball these days.

Depends on what I am doing saturday evening and monday, but I doubt I will watch very much if at all.  Now that Michigan is out, I really don't care who wins, and if I am watching TV can probably find a few things more interesting.

Probably won't watch if only to give my wife and son a break from me raving at the television like a lunatic for the past couple of weeks.

That being said, UConn seems the least odious, to me, if I had to root for a team.

This is our last chance until fall to watch one of the big two college sports, and I love college sports. I'll watch what I can in that regard no matter what. I used to think that way, where if Michigan lost I lost interest, but then you're just extending your lack of enjoyment longer, IMO. All the emotion and great college basketball will bring me back next week. This tournament has been filled with really great games.

And I can't believe I'm saying it, but I'm pulling for Wiscy big time. I've seen more human qualities from Bo the past few weeks than I have the whole time he's been at Wiscy, and after their win over Arizona, when he spoke about his Dad, I almost started tearing up. So put me on the Badger bandwagon for this one.

When he lost it about his Dad, I started tearing up as well. Loved the tories about his Dad, and I hope he can win it. He probably won't because Kentucky MAN ball won't committ a foul. However I won't be watching. No more this year.

So tough to lose the way we did, but I'll watch. I really don't like any of the teams in it (although I have no real issues with Donovan or Kevin Ollie, both seem pretty cool). I despise Calipari and Ryan.
