Meh,

Start fielding a team that can compete with OSU and is competing for championships and we wouldn’t be hearing Herbie type “hawt takes” about ducking games.

Instead, the conversation would be about what a shame it is that two potential CFB playoff contenders don’t get to play. Warde’s “righteous indignation” is 4 years too late for me...should have called out the refs in 2016.

Wake me up when Warde addresses the coaching situation which is way more important than putting Herbs in his place. People stopped caring after last night when Herbs apologized.

Honestly, Herbstreit is a punk, and people who say Michigan should duck OSU are punks. I assume a lot of them are not graduates, and may not have quite the pride and investment in the SCHOOL that those of us who went there do. Their egos are less important--amazingly enough, even now--than the kids who go out and have fun playing the sport. Screw them for their lack of backbone and decency.

Michigan is pausing this week so the team is healthy to play The Game.  No matter what, we hate those fuckers so much that any chance to play that game we will.   In a parking lot if needed.  Bring those fuckers on.  That is our mantra.  Michigan backs down from no one, fucking forever.

I thought Herbstreit's apology was enough. If he wanted to stomp on Michigan, he's had 15 years of opportunities to do it. I think Desmond is more of an obvious homer, when it comes to Gameday broadcasts. He slipped up and apologized. If Warde wants revenge, go find us a coach who can make things closer to an actual rivalry. The sad thing is that OSU is more concerned with us playing so they can get their guaranteed win and games-played limit, than they are about actually entertaining the idea that we could beat them in a football game.

That's an angry-but-thoughtful response, and I'm glad he made it.  Herbstreit has always struck me as a bad-faith speaker, even when his arguments sometimes can be passed off as objectivity.  And to think that a team of college players and coaches who have found a way to remain free of this pandemic for this long (something OSU couldn't do a couple of times) only to fake it all now is idiotic and deserves all of the vitriol he's gotten, not only because it's false but also because it feeds into this pernicious and dangerous sentiment that this pandemic isn't serious or has political motives.

I'm pretty soft on Herbstreit. I don't know him. But he is from very near to where I am from, and I've heard multiple stories about him being a friendly, approachable guy. But if I am to be harsh, I'll say that he has to be understood as someone who does not realize when he is out of his depth.

The thing that pisses me off about it is it's the same type of stuff being pushed by a certain orange man in the White House, and there are literal millions of people that believe that the election was "rigged" just because it sounds like something that happened.

Here you have Herbstreit making the same outrageous accusations of a team faking a covid outbreak in the midst of record case numbers across the country because they're "scared to play OSU", and there are many people who think he did nothing wrong.

Apology or not, he fucked up big time and I won't soon forget it. Any respect I had for him, even after what he did with the Les Miles stuff in 2007/8, is now completely lost. He seems reasonable on the outside, but on the inside he's the same Buckeye homer that they all are, just more insidious than most.

Great

it’s nice to know that Wardel Manuel cares. Any time Hebie gets slapped a little, I am all for it.

still it does not remove the fact that the “winningest program” has not won shit in the last 20 some years. Does not remove the fact that the “winningest program” just lost to a 0-5 team and needed overtime and a lot of luck to win against Rugters, for Chist sake. Saying Michigan and “winningest program” in the same sentence is an insult to all those Michigan teams that played about 100 years ago. This will be the first year Michigan will be winless at home since,,,wait for it,,,,1883 !
I want to see Wardel Manuel get mad about that and clean the freaking Big House

Warde is man responsible for an entire athletic department. Herbie is a talking head who has no more responsibility than his kids he brings on GameDay. Enough said.

If we play, and I hope we do to show just how far the gap is between the two teams and coaching staffs, but this could resemble something like the 1989 Houston - SMU game.

Jack Pardee as Houston coach had his 2nd stringer throwing passes in the 4th quarter and won 95-21. Pardee showed what a dick he was with Andre Ware and then David Klingler slinging the ball up by 50+.

The Cougars went for 2 up 79-21 and made it.

I expect Day is going to do something really aggressive when he has us down 40-50+.

But as for Warde, glad he spoke up today - as for the most wins, that is what we should ASPIRE to uphold on the field. No problem with it. Now get us a coaching staff that can win 10+ games a year, beat OSU 50% of the time, and Sparty 75%+.

That Houston team came to the Big House in 1992 and Moeller handed their ass to them, 61-7.  When asked why he kept scoring in the 4th quarter, he said "when you play by the sword, you die by the sword" (or something to that effect).  I remember that coaches and AD's from schools that Pardee had run up the score called for weeks after to say 'thanks'...

I don’t disagree. But Herbstreit gave credence to dipshit message board conspiracies, and created a rubber stamped ESPN narrative™️ in the process. All Warde did by acknowledging it is make Herbstreit look right if covid prevents Michigan from being able to play on December 12.

Even though it didn’t come directly from the team, maybe this can be OSU’s comparable moment to Dantonio’s bullshit field walk. At the time, it seemed to be the last straw for that team against MSU. Now the honor of the university has been challenged! If there was ever a reason to dig deep and find motivation to beat our rivals it’s got to be for this. Go! Confront the problem! Fight! Win!

It’s interesting getting the opinions of Michigan fans because pretty much everybody else nationally, including Klatt, is coming to Herbstreit’s defense saying they are hearing the same thing and mocking Michigan and Warde.

Michigan fans think one thing and everybody else thinks the opposite. People are laughing at the statement.

Personally I’d like to see Warde get as fired up over the fact that Harbaugh is 0-5 vs OSU, and they have absolutely pantsed us the last two seasons, than over what a little pissant like Herbie says.

But that’s just me.

This is dumb. Herbstreit sucks and so does Warde. If the outbreak is bad enough to cancel the Maryland game then based on the rules put in place by the Big Ten there is no way Michigan should be playing OSU either. The fact that OSU is trying to play this weekend is irresponsible. The safety of the players comes first. All other Big Ten teams have missed two games after an outbreak but it is clear OSU doesn’t care about the health of their players and will do anything to play. This season never should have happened and it is sad how OSU is treating their players. Make no mistake Herbstreit can act like this was all a misunderstanding but he knows exactly what he is doing. He knew reporting Les Miles to Michigan would torpedo the deal and he wanted to screw Michigan. He is doing the same thing again. He should be fired.

Good for Warde to defend the integrity of the program. I know Kirk apologized but it was a low blow.

If Michigan had any guts, they’d use the comments as fuel and play with a little fire and send Ohio State out with a big fat loss and spoil their season but alas we can’t have nice stuff like that.

Glad to see it. Herbstreit's comments, whether he meant them to be malicious or not, were an unwarranted personal insult to every coach and player on the team, and he deserved to be called out for it.

I sure would've liked to see Warde get this pissed over the 2016 OSU game and all the BS penalties OSU got away with, not to mention the spot, but it is what it is at this point.

Warde responding is the equivalent to an O line man jacking up the DE that just took a cheap shot at the QB,

The head coach getting tossed from the baseball game when his team is getting blown out.

The enforcer beating someone's ass for putting a puck on net after the whistle blew...

I'm glad someone is showing a little fucking fire, maybe the God damned football team will catch on!
