In this context it's obvious that I am referring to his inability to stay healthy. That does not mean he isn't tough.

I have to point that  because someone plays football that does not mean they know how to fight. You also have no idea who I am. I could be Chuck Norris for all you know. Toughness also isn't measured by fighting ability. Only neaderthals use that as a measure of toughness.

I realize Peters is really good, but I am very wary of a true freshman starting QB. I would hope that O'Korn, at this stage, after playing a year and sitting another out at Michigan, is more prepared and the better option, and that the staff is able to red-shirt Peters.

I agree with your thoughts.

On a larger scale, the current staff really has not made a concerted effort to recruit a read option quarterback. They've recruited Gentry and Peters and brought in Rudock. I'd be surprised if they would bring in a 5th year guy to run a read option offense for only 1 year.

I have a friend in development at the Univerity of Utah.  He has a LOT of connections in the state of Utah, and especially in athletics (as he played basketball and became something of a local hero at the U).

This friend has been telling me for a year that BYU is shutting its football program down.  The difficulty is what many of us predicted:  Trying to pretend you're Notre Dame and going Independent is not a great plan if you're not Notre Dame.  BYU football has been hemmoraging cash, the football program has had difficulty putting schedules together since most teams are in league play for most of the season, and the Church leadership doesn't really care as much about football as most BYU alums do.

The prediction seems to be one more year, tops.  The stadium already has an interested buyer, Utah Valley University (not long ago Utah Valley State College).

While it appears to be something of a step down, Bronco read the writing on the wall.  In his view, it's a step up over nothing.

But they haven't had success.

The MWC would be happy to have BYU back, but BYU doesn't think joining the MWC would work for them financially.  Despite Boise State's presence.

Unfortunately for BYU, and despite media chatter, the Big 12 hasn't been too keen on BYU's addition.

Independent with no hope of ever making the CFP to theoretically having a chance because of the ACC.  Va is fertile recruiting ground with access to the mid-atlantic/south vs a school in the mountains with an honor code that forbids making the poor decisions that are the best part of the college experience.

UVA seems committed to upgrading their sports.  Basketball and baseball on the men's side is more than solid.  They stuck with a loser coach for far too long or football would be on the upswing.
