why would we want hill? I'm not saying that he wouldn't be great by the end of the year, but look at rudock early season compared to late season. I don't want to deal with another qb playing shitty because he hasn't fully learned the offense yet. I think we have a really good team next year, give me okorn

If it was a possibility of Hill transferring this past season I'd be all for it. That said, we got O'Korn, and Gentry whom both had a year in the system. Plus Peters is coming in as well, besides Hill hasn't made it through a full season since 2013.

That's just a bunch of names. With the exception of O'Korn, all are either true freshmen, RS freshmen or possess miserable statistics. And it's not like a guy who was up and down at Houston is a sure thing.

The QB depth chart isn't fixed. It's getting there, but for 2016, it's a mess if O'Korn gets hurt or doesn't pan out. After all that Michigan has gone through at QB in recent years, it's kinda crazy that people are still like, sure, let's throw a freshman out there.

Bronco applied for the Wisconsin job last year, right?

Anyway, if the rumors are true about Dino to Syracuse, the ACC is getting stronger it seems.

Not this time actually. It has never been a hard and fast rule that the first thread on something is necessarily the one that remains. If a subsequent one is generating more discussion, that will actually win out most of the time, as was the case here.

As for the move itself, I was surprised as others were - I didn't think Mendenhall would leave the confines of BYU anytime soon, but still this is actually a good get for Virginia, I think. I wonder if anyone on his staff follows him actually.

He is very hands off with the offense. The current OC spent two seasons with RichRod at Arizona, so he tried to implement a spread here with Taysom Hill. The current scheme is more of a passing spread. When he first started as coach he had two good QBs (John Beck and Max Hall) and they ran more of a West Coast offense

Bronco is known more as a defensive coach. He has played the 3-4 in the past, and likes to mix up the pressure and bring linebackers and safeties from different places. The defense has been solid, but not great, this season.

Chalk up yet another example of "This guy is happy at <insert small program here> and he is never leaving for <insert program that will pay him more>" being wrong.

Plain and simple if byu was truly the nd of the west he would have never left. BYU independent is just as bad as BYU in the MWC. They need to get over the no sporting events Sunday and join the big 12 or pac12. BYU will continue to trail Utah if they do not join a major conference

I am currently a BYU student and all of the reasonable BYU fans are sad about Bronco leaving.

I think the reason that he left was that he was no longer content here. There is a very vocal element of the BYU fanbase that is very irrational. They think that BYU should win a national championship every year, and are never satisfied. Especially with Utah having a fairly good season, Bronco was taking unjustified heat from the fans.

A lot of people wanted him to be fired last season (which I think would have been crazy), and people were also mad about our 9-3 season this year (with a true freshman QB). I think he was a great coach, and will be hard to replace.

??? You're right, that's some Grad A Irrationality. BYU's only NC was a fluke of scheduling and all the other important programs having a loss or two, and then playing an undermanned Michigan in the Holiday Bowl. If they'd played Florida, Nebraska, or OSU they'd have gotten smoked.

My dad was was in Daytona beech the spring break following BYU natty. They saw Harbaugh down there and started to give him shit on "what happend in the BYU game".

Harbs freaked out on him. I could just picture him doing it. Probably ripping his shirt into two. Lol.

Anyway I hope we land T.Hill.

Excellent hire by Virginia given Mendenhall's track record at BYU over the past decade+. He must've felt really constrained by the finances/other stuff (you know what I mean) at BYU since it's been a substantially better program than Virginia.

The ACC got a lot more interesting with Fuente, Mendenhall, Richt, Fedora doing things at UNC. Maybe Syracuse will get a good coach too.

Why follow Mendehall to UVA?  That would be crazy.

If Taysom Hill loveed Mendenhall so much, he would not have let his desire to transfer out be an open secret.  Hill now has no reason at all to stay for a 5th year at BYU.

Mendenhall is no QB whisperer.  Harbuagh is.

And UVA is terrible.  BYU has a far better team than UVA.  Hill won't impress NFL scouts surrounded by a terrible team at UVA for 1 year.  He might make it to the NFL, however, after some time with Harbaugh.

If he wants a shot at the NFL, he will come to Michigan.

And if O'Korn beats him out for the starting job, then that will mean O'Korn is really good.

Either way, Michigan wins.  With the better of Hill or O'Korn, as long as Michigan solves the LB riddle, it looks like a very serious shot at the playoff.
