I live out in Colorado and listen to sports talk radio.  People out here are excited.  Deion is taking over a historically bad team and the culture has to change.  He was hired to clean house and change the culture.  I am sure he has watched the tape and talked to people about the team's work ethic. It is being reported that over 200 recruits and transfers have already reached out to him and many of them are 4 star kids and some 5 star kids. The 5 star CB from Jackson State already inferred he is transferring to Colorado. I think it is going to be fun to watch.  I think it is a great hire. After all, what does Colorado have to lose?

An incredibly bold move from Prime Time - I thought he'd hold out for something a little more his speed - a Florida school, perhaps.  I never pegged him for moribund, staid Boulder, CO - a place Eric Bienemy still says did him wrong racially (not KKK type wrong, but 'special treatment' as one of the few black people in town).  Boulder just doesn't sound like a place that Deon Sanders would fit in!

But I hope it works out for him - if nothing else, they'll be more fun to watch!

Some SM Bro replied to my comment that players hated Ed Warriner that you don't have to love your coach to get better from them, and coddling and love doesn't make you better.  Contrast this to Coach Prime essentially telling his new team to lead, follow, or get out of the way, and the punters say you coach by building up, not tearing down.  Different philosophies, and different people respond different ways, but the coach deserves to have a team that knows how he does things and buys into it.  Michigan doesn't recruit the same players as OSU or Alabama, because we're all looking for something different.

To compare it to my world, consider the premeds sitting in a weedout chemistry class being told, "Look to your left, look to your right, one of you won't make it through this class."  i.e. Quit while you're ahead if you don't think you have what it takes. Starting med school, we were told "pressure makes diamonds."  It's harsh and maybe toxic, but neither medicine or winning D1 football are for everyone.

It makes sense though, from Deion's perspective.  If you're a player and you decide to enter the portal, either you don't think you're good enough to crack the 2 deep or you're giving up on the program.  Neither of those things are what Deion needs on the team and its best for both parties that those players leave.

It's extremely rare that a player enters the portal and its a bad thing for the program as a whole.

The part sermon, part "time for you all to move on because I'm bringing some dogs," mostly self-aggrandizement team meeting?  Yeah, weird.  The AD had to be cringing.  Tarzan and Jane reference, I predict, is just the first in a long rocky road of Coach Prime trying to "be me" at a big university.  Gary Barnett learned the hard way in Boulder.

I thought the reaction to the speech was as, if not more interesting than the speech itself.  Definitely cut into two distinct groups:

A. Group A who thought it was divisive and condensending.

B. Group B who thought it was a message the 1-10 players needed to hear

I mean it was vintage Deon.  Called out the team for wearing hats in meeting while wearing a hat himself.  Told the team he was bringing his "luggage" with him, meaning his son, as the new QB.

I have no idea if the coach Prime experiment will work there or not.  I do know it will be endlessly entertaining to watch.

Yes it's pretty cringy and if he's mistreating them then I don't endorse that, but...

If it backfires spectacularly to the point that his coaching tenure at Colorado is D.O.A., then....what happens?  Colorado football is a tire fire for the next decade?  It already is. His Jackson State squad might well have hung with this year's CU team or maybe even beat them; the Buffs were just that bad that anything and everything will be on the table for a new head coach.

Pros:  Multiple positions open for immediate playing time, opportunities to play against teams that make the CFP at large stadiums with big crowds, NIL opportunities from mortgage bros.

Cons:  Must live in East Lansing and be a Spartan Dawg (tm), coaching, personal development, fanbase

Hey we meme on Sparty a lot, but they've been able to get some guys from the transfer portal and I think they could do it again and they'll have a chance to start fresh, and their bowl game this year will be an excellent place to build some momentum going into next season.

Michigan should target Fentrell Cypress from Virginia. He was a starting CB and is a grad transfer from a top academic school. He seems to fit the mold of what Michigan is looking for in transfers.
