I don't know why this makes me so sad, but it does. Its amazing what just reading someone's writing for years can do as far as making you feel like you know them at some level. Having suffered from a long-term debilitating condition (from which I have recovered, thankfully) I always have pulled for you. I guess I wish you stuck with it, but that's selfishness talking. Fight your fight my man. You will be missed. Please check in with the board from time to time and update us. I would like to think Brian will have a goodbye post of some sort, but maybe that kind of thing is inappropriate. All the best Ace. You're a great writer. I will be hoping the universe cuts you some slack.

Oh my God. I had no idea Ace's health was in such a dire state. I hope it's not as bad as what it looks like in the video.

Thank you for everything, Ace. You will be sorely missed. Best wishes for a full recovery.

Will miss your writing Ace. You blocked me on twitter for disagreeing with a political take of yours, but I wish you nothing but the best possible health outcome and I hope your life turns out exactly as you hope it will. Get better soon.

Ace, man, you've added so much to this site that has been the singular addictive object in my online experience for the past 10 years. It won't be the same without you.

Live long. Live well. Fight. Peace, brother.

p.s.  Many years ago (late 1990s, early 2000s) I saw a play at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater that included a discussion of a character's diagnosis of ME. Almost all at once, the audience members were whispering to each other, "What's ME?"  I was a grad student in the biomedical sciences and even I wasn't sure.

Maybe with your work and advocacy, some day in the future, fewer whispers. Everyone knows CFS/ME, and as anyone who's spent time in medical research knows, where attention goes, research dollars follow.

Well, shit balls. Ace, you will be missed! Please at least post on the board and let us know how you’re doing. As many others have said, we’re all pulling for you. I very much admire the way you’ve handled your health issues and the resultant complications. You are a tough and thoroughly decent guy. Hang in there. We wish you the best.

Ace,

If a person can be a friend with someone just based on loving their writing and interactions on Twitter, then I consider you a friend.  Either way, I hope sincerely that your health can come around, but for sure, you will be missed.  Thanks for all the GIFs, all the laughs, and all of the insights.

It has been great to follow Ace as he grew into his role at MGoBlog over the years.  It will be more meaningful to watch Ace as he takes on this next challenge.

All the best Ace and keep us up to date. Everyone is rooting for you.

Thank you Ace.  Your writing and your football takes have always been among my favorites.  But you have already been a great advocate for treatment and research into CFE and related ailments, and I'm glad to hear that that's where' you'll focus next, when you are able to do so.  Know that there will always be this corner of the world, oddly brought together by a common bond over a sports program, that gets it and will go to bat for you whenever you need it.

Best wishes Ace. We will miss your work more than you know. Your quick wit,  friendly personality, humble demeanor, and well-researched opinions cannot be replaced.  Thank you for your valuable contributions to the Michigan sports community.

Well, this sucks for all involved.  But you need to have your priorities straight, and it sounds like you do.  Good luck in the future - both now and long term.  And don't forget to check in here every now and then.  I suspect anything you post will end up with hundreds of replies!  Also come back here when you need things - you know this community will respond.

Praying for healing for you, Ace. I’ve come to love your insights on our Michigan fandom.  I loved the enthusiasm in your voice on the podcast and it spilled over into your writing.  May you get well and be successful in focusing your talents on helping others with CFS.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Ace's absence has left such a huge void here this season, was really looking forward to his return. Ace, I hope your journey gets easier, and it says so much about you that you're so committed to bravely sharing your experience to improve others' as well. Good luck, and know you're going to remain a part of our MGoCommunity for many, many years to come!

Ace - not sure if you believe in the holistic route, but ive heard of quite a few people struggling with CFS only to be cured within a few months.  Just throwing it out there, but DBC in grand rapids is fantastic and has done wonders for me.  Bet you a shiny nickel they would help and probably cure you within a short period of time.  Theres still hope man, dont give up!

Hope you get better Ace....

All disease pathways first start with a lack of Vitamin D, and then perpetuate on nutrition.  Take a ton of D3 each day, and only eat things that do not have a shelf life...as in will spoil in four days... typically vegetables, fruits, and the perimeter of the supermarket. Good luck.

I'll add to the chorus. Ace, your writing is second to none, and after years of reading it, I almost feel like I've gotten to know you. All the best to you, and thank you sincerely for giving so much of yourself to enrich our lives.

Usually I'm vehemently against GoFundMe, but it would be a wonderful thing to set up a GoFundMe for Ace.  Don't know what his employment situation is post Mgoblog, but some cushion for him during a tough time would be nice (and a special thanks for his contributions to this site).

That was my thought, too. I remember Ace thanking Brian for keeping him on staff and providing his health care even though he was on a leave of absence.

Ace’s contributions to the Blog helped define what this place is, second only to Brian’s.

Can we give Ace a billion MGoPoints so he’ll always be first whenever the users by points page comes back?

Not only will MGoBlog not be the same, but Michigan sports, for me, will now be different. Get well, Ace, you're going to do even more great things in the future

Such sad news.

Ace, your contributions to this site - the front page, the podcasts, and everything - will be missed. Hopefully, you come back to visit us on occasion, but more importantly, hopefully you can get some relief and improvement in your health.

Get well, sir.
