Submitted by Cruzcontrol75 on March 14th, 2023 at 10:40 AM

Prediction put in by TX insider Mike Roach.  Tatum is a 4* from Longview, composite #36 overall.  Also plays baseball and runs track.

Ran 200-meter times of 22.05 and 22.16 as a sophomore in Spring 2022. Ran the second leg of Longview's 4x100 and 4x200 relays, which each finished in the top five at the Texas 5A state track and field championships.

Earned Co-Sophomore of the Year honors on the Texas District 15-5A all-league team in Spring 2022.
Ran a 23.01 200 and long jumped 19-6 in his only freshman track meet in Spring 2021.
-----
2022: Texas District 7-5A D-I Overall MVP as a junior. Ran for 1,891 yards and 33 TDs on 8.33 ypc. Added 12-160-3 receiving. Helped Longview to a 14-1 record and the Texas 5A D-I state semifinals.

Why would a high potential prospect like Taylor even consider Michigan?

Come on - what's going on in Ann Arbor?

So, there's that two consecutive Joe Moore award winning OL.

Then - there's a solid RB coach named Mike Hart.

Oh - Michigan does seem to have a track record of developing players.

And, the RB room has had a few players recently named Haskins (who is stuck playing on Sundays now) - and Blake Corum & Donovan Edwards at the position today.

The coaching staff seems to like to incorporate schemes - blocking, offensive, etc. - that position players to be productive on Sundays, if things work out.

Culture seems to come up quite a bit too - with the team being "very tight / close / supportive" of each other.

Well - besides that - what's going on?

Does 247 manually update cool-warm-hot interest for recruits for each school? I would think it would be a formula based on crystal balls/time...

Really annoying when recruits are listed as "cool" for all schools so they just list alphabetically.

Also check out an old thread of RB Stewart its good film.  While film and intangibles can be wrong, many here including me weren't enthused with Hokes Derrick Green film at all, he would get taken down with a pinky or tripped on a blade of grass time and time again. Stewart shows superb north south ability, and his ypc I predict will be rather high, like Haskins was, but instead for his slipperiness.

Derrick Green was a top 3 RB recruit in nation, and small group of us here were wondering if the plan was for him to be a LB, because he had the physique but just didn't have the intangibles to be a RB. was physically imposing but never had I seen anyone go down so easily.   I'd be rewinding the tape to see what brought him down time and time again and it was ghosts and finger tackles.

I was the OP of that thread and by no means was I saying that Stewart should be our #1 target. I was more saying he could be a solid fallback option. Taylor Tatum and Jordan Marshall should be our top targets. Marshall is my favorite RB recruit because I love his between the tackles running ability, his ability to make defenders miss, and I think he fits better into what we usually ask of our RBs. Tatum is more of a one cut back, but has better top end speed and is a better receiver than Marshall. Both would be huge gets

I agree 100% with your assessment here-including Marshall being a slight favorite. Both of these players are fine young men but Jordan is special and has "Michigan" written all over him. There is a youtube video interview of Marshall by John McCallister that paints a remarkable picture of this outstanding young man. I believe he is a strong Michigan lean and even subtly hints this in the interview-as he makes a special point of noting that he and Ted Hammonds are very good friends.

Getting Tatum and/or Marshall is just as key to this class as bringing in Jadyn Davis. A team as run heavy as ours needs elite backs and after Corum/Edwards we don't really have anything close to a sure thing. Cabana is an intriguing back, but we don't know if he's a workhorse back yet

If you play: RB, OL or TE I for the life of me can not figure out how Michigan wouldn't be in your list of schools every time. Since Harbaugh arrival it has been very very very good!

Come on down!

Need to put on absolute full court press and make him, alongside Davis, the top priority for this cycle.

Corum is gone after next season. Donovan Edwards is almost certainly gone as well. Maybe Stokes can progress and Cabana can carve out a good role, but you don't have a definitive heir on the roster right now that you can look to and say "THAT'S THE GUY." Tatum could very well be that guy, and Michigan desperately needs an influx of talent in time for the 2024 season. That team's roster, especially the offensive side of the ball, could look very, very different from how it does at the start of next season.

If you're a top OL or RB recruit right now, you should at least be giving Michigan a good, long look. If you're a RB, you can feel confident that Harbaugh is going to want to get the ball in your hand at least 15-20x/game.

To be clear since you never stated it outright, the CB was indeed for us. Wasn't 100% if you meant for us for Texas just by the wording.

Top 50 recruit to replace our Heisman caliber RB and 1st round caliber backup? Yes please.
