Taylor Lewan: Maybe Growing Up
I, like many of you, am quick to point out flaws when it comes to Lewan’s actions throughout college and into the early years of his NFL career. Tonight, however, Mrs. LSA Aught One told me that the hospital where she works received a large number of flower bouquets from Taylor Lewan. He wanted to express his gratitude for their hard work. I think our guy may be growing up!
I don't care how many flowers he buys, he's a douche.
Edit: you talk about how he sucked during the early years of his career. He got pinched for PEDs last year. He's a douche.

Second that. Assholes are indeed capable of doing nice things from time to time.
Lewan gave you a dirty look one Friday at cottage pizza... Right?
I bet you're fun at parties
April 22nd, 2020 at 10:27 AM ^
Lewan threatened to rape a rape victim. Not liking him doesn't really have anything to do with "being fun at parties."
6.9.1If flowers erased all the douche bag moves any man has made...there would be zero divorces.
April 21st, 2020 at 10:43 PM ^
No, a very large number of women are absolute jackasses. The divorce rate probably still wouldn't change much.

Thank you for ruining the joke, Men's-rights guy.

This is basically the same point that huntmich made but everyone's upvoting it? Make up your minds, people.
April 21st, 2020 at 11:47 PM ^
Not even close. Huntmich made a personal attack on an individual. Lakeyale is making a general observation.
Taylor lewan does not exhibit the personal characteristics that Michigan cultivates in its alumni.
Also, to suggest that my insult to Lewan and Lakeyale's insult to people buying flowers to not be viewed negatively are materially different is intellectually dishonest.
Anyone who uses the phrase "intellectually dishonest" on a sports forum is a douche.
April 22nd, 2020 at 10:45 AM ^
"intellectually dishonest" That doesn't mean what you think it means. You were being a dick, he was being humorous.
Pro tip: presentation can be important.
That's the end takeaway: it was the same point presented in two different manners.
Also, being a dick about someone like Lewan doesn't really piss me off considering Lewan has a track record of being human trash.
Maybe he should bring flowers to the girl he helped Gibbons assault.
Lewan should go away. He's trash.

"But he's our trash."
-Mgoblog
Could you imagine if we behaved that way? Why that would almost be like having a player kicked off the team for domestic assault (allegedly) the years later being featured all over Michigan Football social media as a conqu'ring hero.
But Michigan would never do that
Classy move.
He has from time to time shown a very considerate/empathetic/relatable side.
It's the other side that's the problem. That side that leaves most people with common sense shaking their head. If he can outgrow that, we should all be proud of him.
Flour woulda been slightly more practical.
Are people actually having a hard time finding flour? I always see it on the shelves...

Scarce where I live - along with pasta, bread, tomato sauce. Found it at an off the beaten path market - and plenty of all of it. Arab market that I found and fond of with very good selection and prices on produce and - Mediterranean foods. Zero selection of booze or pork anything.

I shit you not, found a gold mine of toilet paper at a Chinese market by me (pun intended)
April 21st, 2020 at 11:55 PM ^
I can't find any brand toilet paper anymore. It's all off brand or store brand. This confounds me.
April 22nd, 2020 at 12:23 AM ^
Some of the store brands, Meijer for instance, are actually better than some of the name brands. Others, not so much.

Amazon is getting back to normal on TP. I got a case of 36 rolls for $20 and it only took 2 weeks to get delivered.
I went to Costco today for a variety of items. One of them was paper towel. The only paper towel in the store was a brand I'd never seen before with extremely low quality packaging. It looked like the company had been started in the last month to account for the paper towel shortage.
There's a big, huge difference between making TP for home use, and TP for industrial use. You think anyone will buy the junk we get at the office? Nope... It's taken some time to switch from making business TP that has far less demand, to home TP that has far more demand. The changeover in production and shipping takes some time.
I have noticed that stores are now able stock stock paper towels and TP for longer periods of time. But I suspect we'll see another shortage at work, when we get back to the office...
Found some for you!
Each flower represents a sexual assault Lewan help cover up.

Meh. I hope for his sake he is. But shitty people aren’t shitty people because they are shitty all the time. It’s a pattern of behavior exhibited over time and habituated in sufficient quantity while harming others. One nice gesture does not a decent person make. I don’t know anything about Taylor of today so here’s to hoping he’s changed for society’s sake. Dude sucked when he was in school here.

Michigan Football needs more players of Taylor Lewan's football talent without the character issues. Unfortunately, many star athletes (and coaches) are assholes who show redeeming qualities from time to time.
Ex: Michael Jordan. Amazing basketball player. He may or may not be the GOAT. But I wouldn't necessarily want to be friends with the guy. His contact info in my phone? Sure. Be friendly with him? Sure. Friends? Doubt it.
Don't we wish that all people could be like Denard Robinson? What a happy place we'd live in - you couldn't help but smile every time you see that guy's smile!
Favorite Michigan memorabilia of mine happens to be a football signed by Denard and Mike Martin. Favorite of mine since they were both great to watch, and from all accounts, good people. Funny part is the ball was a gift from a huge Buckeye fan who happened to be good friends with them both (especially Martin).

Its almost as if basically no one is either completely bad or completely good.
I have a counterexample for you but #nopolitics.

He's one of the few U-M alums I don't care to follow at all. Donating a few flowers doesn't change the damage he and Gibbons did to that girl's life. Fuck him
April 21st, 2020 at 11:27 PM ^
Very cool gesture on Taylor's part to send the flowers.
April 21st, 2020 at 11:39 PM ^
It's funny. I'll bet no one in this post has ever met him or spent any length of time around him. He's a good dude and he knows he's made some mistakes but he has some level of introspection to recognize that. Air your dirty laundry.
April 21st, 2020 at 11:59 PM ^
I've met him. I had lunch with him and Patrick Omameh at the Women's Football Academy ten years ago. Both nice and personable guys. Beyond that, I can't comment.
April 22nd, 2020 at 12:06 AM ^
No one is irredeemable but this doesn’t really move the needle for me. Lots of bad people do nice things, there aren’t that many true sociopaths. And sending flowers is not that big of a deal
April 22nd, 2020 at 12:25 AM ^
Tiniest of baby steps. Miles to go.
April 22nd, 2020 at 12:29 AM ^
You don't bring me flowers
You don't sing me love songs
You hardly talk to me anymore
When I come through the door at the end of the day
Where do we all stand on Lewan now?
Flowers look and smell nice but PPE or money to buy such things is a better donation at this time.
Exactly. Flowers are a nice gesture, but they're a gesture that will be dead in a week.
Hospitals don't need flowers; they need PPE.
And stupid gestures aren't benign; medical staff are dropping like it's a goddamn warzone so every unnecessary social interaction is like more bullets flying at them. They're also people so I'm sure they get he meant well, but it's not what they needed.

I hate it when people that are working really hard are given something that is 100% supposed to give them an appreciated and feel good moment, and just might make a difference in their mindset as they continue on with their work.
While it’s a nice gesture, it doesn’t really mean all that much. People of all ilk do charitable things.
If he apologizes for what he did in undergrad and starts fighting (and it doesn’t have to be grand public gesture) against the misogyny that led him to do what he did, then we will be able to say he’s changing.
One upside to our current reality is that people are seeing the insidious nature of narcissists and their enablers. They used to be able to operate in the shadows.
