Don't remember this, what's this referencing?

There is a lot of funding…

There is a lot of funding coming into the program to boost NIL/recruiting already.  Best guess would be they bring Brohm home, and the alumni infuse as much money as it takes to start winning again.  Could end up with a TAMU scenario, but the money is definitely there to boost recruiting.

Well, they went 6-3 in…

Well, they went 6-3 in conference, which was a record for ISU, even though they finished 8-5.  Pretty sure he's been named the conference COY twice during that time as well.  Lot if talent there, as the Patriots and OhSt.  both tried hiring him to be on staff at one point.

Matt Campbell...liked hom at…

Matt Campbell...liked hom at Toleod as very young HC.  Success at turning around Iowa State already...he would be my first choice.

I really hope no one is…

I really hope no one is laughing, but I guess some may find pointing at higher death rates  between  the US and other countries is a great punch line....

Roughly 50ish years ago…

Roughly 50ish years ago...not arguing either side of this, but in the 50s and 60s, flu killed 100,000+ in a single flu season once each decade.

That was my second thought…

That was my second thought...after I wondered why Jimmy King was in the pic, maybe with his son they're recruiting?

This, exactly.  Both states…

This, exactly.  Both states were hammered, and given the education provided by many board members working in the medical field (much appreciated), it would seem the virus probably has a much harder time finding new hosts (if the idea of immunity/not catching it again right away is in fact holding true).

Favorite Michigan…

Favorite Michigan memorabilia of mine happens to be a football signed by Denard and Mike Martin.  Favorite of mine since they were both great to watch, and from all accounts, good people.  Funny part is the ball was a gift from a huge Buckeye fan who happened to be good friends with them both (especially Martin).

No Spikeball?  Stumbled upon…

No Spikeball?  Stumbled upon a match airing on one of the ESPN channels pitting different college students against each other (seen it played in local parks a few times).  If you're unfamiliar, reminds me of 4-square (?) we used to play on the playground as kids.  I watched for a couple minutes, turned off the TV, and went into the other room to shed a few tears over the absence of real sports.

Not sure a lot of stock can…

Not sure a lot of stock can be placed in a poll of a whopping 600 people though...don't live in Michigan anymore, but the vacation home issue is interesting.   Is it true I could come from out of state to a summer house I own in Michigan,  but Michigan residents can't now do the same in their own state?  Seems like some strangely framed restriction if accurate.

Counterpoint though would be…

Counterpoint though would be injury issues.  Player goes to G-league, blows out knee (is contract guaranteed?), basketball future could be done.  I believe a lot/most of the the larger schools now offer players the option to come back to school and finish degrees after leaving early.  It would be a nice hedge against injury or other setbacks...although I'm sure many are already getting nice supplemental income under the table they do go for a year or two to "play school".  As someone else mentioned, a guarantee for the school to honor $400k for a Michigan degree would be a nice insurance policy to have in your pocket as a backup plan in case a player bailed after a year to take a run at the NBA.

This exactly...work in…

This exactly...work in supply chain/transportation and only issue is shifting enough capacity to move goods to the retail locations at this point.  And we were just informed in our group that most in the field are essential employees, meaning we'll keep the goods flowing as long as they are there to move.

So it would he less weird if he took it out and played with it?

Made me go look at…

Made me go look at recruiting classes for 2020.  Hope those rankings reshuffle die to player development, as OSU has (per 24/7) four WR commits this cycle all in the top 80 overall.  Our highest commit is 95 overall, a WR.  Not a stargazer, but that doesn't make me feel any better about the hope of a fall off for Day.  May take a few years to see much regression from the Urbz-level recruiting at OSU.

Hopefully the team goes out and leaves it all on the table, and can send back a lot of sad cooler poopers after The Game.  Seems like a lot of great kids on this team, and would like to see their hard work rewarded in a big way.

Maybe at Kentucky, but this…

Maybe at Kentucky, but this sounds like recency bias.  I would equate Calipari at Kentucky to Saban at Alabama in regards to being insulated from the "dirty work".  The programs have people in place to make things happen without him getting his hands dirty.  Just ask Don Chaney about Cal's character, which is still an epic public meltdown btw.  He's still a slimy person, but UK's blue blood basketball status allows him to operate cleaner in his position than prior stops in his career.  UMass and Memphis were obvious examples...can only polish a turd so much.

Not sure I completely…

Not sure I completely understand, but they are slotting him as C on the second line at the moment.  With Frans and Val, not sure I get it, but is what I've read from pretty much all the local sources.

Completley agree.  I was…

Completley agree.  I was explaining to the wife during the Iowa game that he also seems to lack the ability to throw to a receiver before he's open.  As you said, I think he lacks the ability to read the coverage and can't throw to a guy not visibly open before he will let fly.  Frustrating to watch, and real problem for any high level QB.  If that can't change, you have to move on to someone else with more ceiling and ability.

But, ironically, something a…

But, ironically, something a LOT of posters were wondering why the team wasn't doing somewhat the first two weeks.  "Why don't we just give the ball to Mason to hammer in close to the goal line!".  Stated quite a bit, and we got what we asked for...

Can't ever really predict…

Can't ever really predict anything with this team, good or bad...hell, beat Pats last year, and nooooobody saw that happening.

Sure, but 2,632 games over 16 years?!  Give respect where it's due, and that record will probably never come close to being touched again.

Almost as sickening as the…

Almost as sickening as the crimes and culture in EL...is the fact it's all subsidized by the hard working state of Michigan tax payers.  That needs to be corrected, especially when these dirtbags start going to prison.  How about some legislation for public university officials, stating if this happens, the school president doesn't get a golden parachute.   Gotta change....

Yep, this is very much about…

Yep, this is very much about dealing with external forces.  China's economy has struggled recently and they are introducing stimulus from their government.  Not a fan of lowering much in case we have a recession, leaving us without a major tool to ease stress within the economy.

So close, but the GOAT was…

So close, but the GOAT was around for the 2000 Orange Bowl.  Best in last 19 years, debatable.

If you can, it's best to make a full week of it here or at least a long weekend.  Plan way in advance to book somewhere to stay, but tons of other things to do while here.  Bourbon trail, Louisville Slugger bat factory, museums, historical sites - well worth a week of your time if you can manage.

I would tend to believe the…

I would tend to believe the high level of compensation attainable at that time in Michigan without a college degree supported that belief.  Skilled trades and Big 3 employees did very well without higher education in the 80s, and even had my own family devalue my educational pursuits.

Pretty sure the write up…

Pretty sure the write up states they "play for free"...with it implied that they are also voting to get rid of offsides in hockey.

Surprised no one is wondering why Kumar goes to his hat, and rubs his fingers right after between almost every pitch?  Not sure matters much, but pretty obvious once you notice...appears he may be adding something to the ball.

First game I was able to watch was last night, and the team seems unwatchable.   Looks like a 100 loss team, but worse is the players seem to know it now too.

Living in KY now, and…

Living in KY now, and surrounded by UK fans, my take is he is the same coach he was at Umass and Memphis.  The only difference now is that he coaches at a school that doesn't necessitate the same level of shenanigans to pull in the elite players.  The fans/alumni handle the heavy lifting when it comes to perpetuating "SEC values", enabling Coach Cal to maintain an image of integrity.  Once a turd, always a turd...
