Imo the inistence on Johns over TWill and not getting Frankie more play are both bad decisions tonite. Sure, the team missed wayyyy too many shots, but questionably sticking with Jones and Johns are on Juwan. It was just bad all around.
Always easy to say this or that guy should have played--and this or that guy certainly would have altered the equation--but Juwan couldn't make the free throws or the layups. That's a six point win--or, let's be more modest in our assertion--a close. ass. game., one that nobody's complaining about rotations with--if we do those things.
Now, tell me that Juwan coulda shoulda had them playing with more composure or confidence. . . maybe. I was a little surprised by their jitters, given how well they played in the first two games.
Juwan didn’t miss point blank shots and free throws.
Team just had an off shooting night. It happens sometimes in the tournament.
Overall a decent season. Sweet 16 is not a terrible place to exit. Very hard to make elite 8’s and final 4’s. Just ask the rest of the big ten.
I thought he did pretty well. I think the switching of Villanova really slowed down the team the same way it did against OSU. The defense played pretty well to me as well and Dickinson did a decent job handling the 5 out stuff.
Good game against a better team. Exceeded expectations in the tourney. Cheers.
Were they really better?
Tonight they were. The missed shots down low were challenged, rushed, or forced.
Would Nova beat UM more than 5 times if they played 10 times? I dunno. This was a very, very winnable game. *shrug* I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
Fitting - Houstan misses another. Really disappointing in spite of the fact they probably shouldn’t have made it here
Horrid offensive effort and once again, rotations sucked
Stank it up pretty good and still could have won with a little composure. Missed free throws and layups. Oh well.
Well, Nova will killed by whoever they play next
Not upset with the loss, I kind of expected that. But I'm very disappointed in the way they lost. This game was winnable, should have been a win. Nova didn't do anything to look like the better team.
Proud of our guys. They went farther than anyone expected. The future is bright for this team. Go Blue!
You’re making huge assumptions about who’s coming back to say that the future is bright. At this point there’s no reason to believe that they’re shooting is going to improve.
Too many blown cribs
How??? Why???
Fuck. We were competitive though.
Well we didn't have a great season, but we had a nice run here on the big stage.
Its a success given expectations in March, and a bust given expectations to start the season. Your mileage may vary.
Michigan has no three-point threat from outside that any defense has to be concerned with. There's no reason for tall guys to consistently missed layups and dunks, or not know how to dunk a ball. I don't think these players are ready to go pro, weather NBA, or anywhere else. But sadly money calls and too many young guys ears are listening. They'll settle for a fast food hamburger today instead of eating steak in a year to buy working hard
Oh well. I’m not going to criticize them for anything. They had a very off night at a bad time.
Go Blue.
What a ragged team.
55 points in a game for the Elite Eight is pathetic.
Oh well. They had multiple chances and didn't get it done.
As they say in soccer: "Fair Result".
Nova is just a better team. They play very solid and show their strength. Older, smarter team.
UM had a lot of chances and couldn’t finish, a lot of FTs that were missed, and a lot of loose balls lost by weak hands. Just not quite good enough.
no they are not--- we missed almost every layup -- and most of out free-throws!!!! we should have beat them!!!!
Fire Juwan
relax. I’m joking. But seriously we need some shooters.
I would love to see our fg% from within 2 ft. Has to be like 10%.
Was a fun run! On to next year!
Disappointing way to end it, especially when the opportunity to win was right there. Hopefully they see what it takes to get to the next level, strong fundamentals, taking care of the basketball and the ability to knock down shots. Overall a nice ending to an other wise disappointing season, happy for the players that they were able to taste some tournament success. GO BLUE!
Juwan's rotations boggle the mind....but in reality the team is just bad...williams gets wayyyy too much love here....everyone was bad except 2nd half Eli...Diabetes has been really bad lately....he thinks he has wayyyy more of an offensive game than he has....this roster was poor and I don't see it any better next year....

I hope your diabetes gets better
Gonna miss rooting for you on the court Eli Brooks! Sending good vibes in all your future endeavors.
I’m not sure I’ve seen a worse offensive game in my life. That 2nd foul on Dickinson in the first half was such a wasted opportunity. Soul crushing FT%
Villanova had no business winning that game.
reload, let’s go blue!
Juwan didn’t make them go 7-14 from the line and miss at least 15 bunnies but he sure as fuck decided it was a great idea to put our 9th best player on the team out there tonight for major minutes. Might as well have put Nunez out there as well if you’re gonna play Johns that much. The team talks too much shit, can’t shoot and lack serious fundamentals.
Major minutes to Johns in this game absolutely baffling. But be ready for the Johns apologists. “He plays good defense.” Ha. Was smoked repeatedly on D and missed every shot he took from near and far. Terrible decision to have him on the floor.

Ha, I saw that too UM Indy on Page 6.
Johns did have 2 blocks, but went 0-5, didn't make any of his free throws and was blown by multiple times while getting 17 minutes, while T-Will was getting pine splinters.

And he was blown by on both of those blocks, only got them due to his teammates being in great help-side defense.
Not much to legitimately be mad about. All of that seemed pretty repeatable, both ways.
as typical, Michigan shoots a little better and they have a chance. Villanova shoots a little better and it is a double digit game. Defenses had a lot to do with the poor shooting.
Like the UCLA game last season. Given every chance to win the game. Couldn’t hit shots even from point blank range. Frustrating as hell.
We had 4 chances to win or tie in the last 12 seconds last year. We missed them all.
Michigan desperately needs to learn how to finish.
I'm well aware. I was there.
Hope you weren't there tonight.
Nope.
Rough showing there with all the missed bunnies and free throws. They had their chances just didn't capitalize.
Hopefully they find a shooter for next year. Eli seemed to be the only constant. Hard to win in basketball with no 3 point threat. Need a floor spacer that defense has to worry about.
21-61 34% FG 7-14 50% FT not going to beat anybody with those numbers
You are correct. Michigan shot 47.1% and 62.5% on FTs in a game and lost by 10 at home to an awful Minnesota team. Tonight’s numbers aren’t beating anybody.
Why is there not basketball being played right now? CBS scheduled these games awfully.
Wow, we played on the second weekend for the Elite Eight and we didn't even finish with 20 wins.
I remember years with 20 wins when we didn't even make the tournament.
I guess we were lucky to see a sweet sixteen.
Jay Wright coached to win. Juwan and team just happy to try to win. Levels. Crazy thing is we shot better 3 point percentage and still lose by 10. Villanova bigs played better than Michigan bigs.
I thought we would have to shoot well to win. I was right but I was thinking 3 pointers not free throws and layups.
I’m not mad at Howard, but if you want to be, be mad that he didn’t pull any shooters from the portal. Johns is pretty bad, but Dickinson played like he was 6’5” for most of the second half and he would have been exhausted covering smaller guys for that long. It’s not rotations that made Moussa look totally lost or made Houstan invisible yet again.
I'm not seeing anybody who is an NBA player on this team. They should all come back.
Chunk that many fucking layups and you lose every fucking time. Jesus

I think this was Dickinson worst game of his career. We have seen him struggle before usually against taller, more Athletic guys. But he was getting great looks repeatedly but just couldn't finish. Dixon probably played a role in that he made HD work hard to get the shot. Oh well without HD we're not even here.
