Sparty appears to be rebooting FB recruiting
Not surprising given how their 2023 class ended…
Smoking Doobies 4 Life?
Sausage Dip 4 Less?
Sucking Dongs 4 Loot?
Selling Defeat 4 100 Large?
spartan ($100 million) deal 4 life?
God I hate the "Spartan Dawg" thing so much. It is the cringiest thing seeing a middle aged white guy have a shirt that just says "Spartan Dawg". Is being a Spartan not cool anymore so you also have to be a Dawg?
18 year old Football players like to describe themselves that way (as a dawg) and that's fine I think that's cool. But to make a whole marketing ploy by the university is just so fucking cringe man

It's been dumb since it started. It reeks of their insecurity that their generic-ass mascot doesn't stand on its own. Rather than lean into their original brand, they put on addendums to try to make it stand out.

If anyone wants to see this ugly ass trike,it can be seen at zeigler motorsports in Kalamazoo. I was in there in January making a purchase. Had on Michigan gear, I was sitting at the salesmans desk waiting for paperwork to sign. Salesman pointed out the trike on the showroom floor. Melllllllvin bought the trike there and stores it there during the winter. Told the salesman Id like to drop a deuce in the seat. He shrugged his shoulders.
Go Blue
MSU has been letting go staff left and right. At least he'll always have Jet's Pizza delivery driver to fall back on.
Recruiting is always going to be harder at MSU. Their sole recourse over time has been hiring really good coaches. Is Mel that guy? I, for one, have my doubts.
I read something recently—today? the Athletic?—about the difference between places that will win because they're recruiting juggernauts (Mama, Georgia) and places that require great development, i.e., good coaches and longtime defensive coordinators, like those at Iowa and, formerly, Northwestern.
MSU ain't no juggernaut—naut jugger?—so they're left hoping the coaching improves.
naut jugger
noun
a younger male sibling with a massive inferiority complex
STAEE is a nut juggler.
Mama is a recruiting juggernaut? I feel there's a joke here, but then I remember that you probably meant Bama and then I think about Nick Saban and I start to get nauseous.
So, uh, never mind, and in conclusion autocorrect sucks.

Dantoni was a$$ but he was feared because he developed players.
Tuck doesnt develop anything. He takes 4* to 2*. 3* to 1*. Best defensive player is a guy he poached from UNLV. Best offensive player he poached from Wake Forest. He sucks at developing his own guys and RCMB and the rest know that and refuse to acknowledge. They will blame COVID til 2028. Perfect!
Hating on their 2023 class is a little ironic considering ours wasn’t the best. We have more recruits but their average is higher. This is probably more of a result of them losing interest from the 2024 cycle than anything else.
Our worst class of the Harbaugh tenure is still better than Mel’s best. Add in transfers (his supposed specialty, but where UM crushed it this year), and overall talent coming in is not even close for just this cycle. - This all after the Harbaugh NFL flirtation and negative recruiting.
Our 2024 class is shaping up to be a monster, and if Jadyn commits, the dominos could start falling for it to be Harbaugh’s best.
we can definitely mock them for paying Melllllll $100mm
Transfers are already an important part of recruiting but you're generally not going to be able to build and maintain a roster with them. The talent pool in the portal will be smaller than the regular pool of recruits, and (despite the occasionally home run like Olu Oluwatimi, Justin Fields, Joe Burrow or Kenneth Walker) a lot of them are transferring because they're not getting playing time at their current school.
I have to wonder if part of Tucker's success came because he was paying more attention to it early on than other coaches were; if so as more teams start to use the portal it'll be harder to replicate this.
Having said that, the portal can be great for plugging holes and/or quick rebuilding of a depleted roster.
Introducing new GM Matt Millen.
How many people could say they'd be equally capable in the pros and in college?
I picked the wrong time to see your post as I sipped on my beer. +1
shame. wish he stuck aroud for a few more years lol.
A lot of negative comments… which is unfortunate.
I love MeLLLLLLL and hope they are smart enough to extend his contract and give him a raise.
Hahaha. I pickup what you’re putting down.
I hope he is there for a lonnngggg time, well… he will be with that prison contract.
terrible coach, culture is pure trash, and they will be mediocre, at best, during his full tenure. He should still be kissing the universes ass for landing Walker. Terrible program
Looks like this guy was very highly regarded when he left Wisconsin to come to MSU.
Where’s the threat
MSU has to solve a huge dilemma: Mel had 1 very good season by striking gold with Walker and a bunch of transfers. He has 2 awful seasons at MSU and 1 awful season at CU. His roster looks middling for 2023 and even weaker beyond. Poor game management and mediocre player development, and now recruiting is below average. He is owed ~$80m at this point.
Meanwhile, UM has back-to-back championships and a strong roster for 2023 with even more recruiting momentum for future years.
So, who else can MSU possibly get to fill this role? No top coaches were interested 4 years ago. Their only rival is now really rolling and I doubt $95m guarantees are in the cards for future offers.
Just looked at their upcoming schedule. Ceiling is 7-5, with losses to M, OSU, PSU, Washington and 1 other. I suppose 8-4 is remotely possible. But with their mediocre roster, doubtful. Zero chance Sparty is contender.

The Sparty fandom will love 7-5 or 6-6 or 8-4 if a win includes Michigan. The 95 million is worth it if MeLLLLL has a .500 record against Michigan.
The problem was that Dantonio spoiled that fanbase in terms of success but also enjoyed said success when teams like UM and PSU were relatively down. It's not surprise that the minute both those teams started performing like their historical averages MSU has returned to being basically a .500 team. Sure they'll have some aberration seasons where they win a ton of close games but more often than not they'll be the 4th best team in their division and that's it. And you can't buy yourself out of that position when everyone else around you has money.
I do think they'll benefit from the dissolution of divisions in the conference. They won't have a clear shot at the conference title but they can absolutely have those years where they miss one or two good teams, get an upset here or there, and win 9-10 games. Tucker can probably pull a couple of those off because he is a competent coach. But he's getting paid to be a transcendent one and he just isn't that guy.
Bronx, the timing of Dantonio’s departure is what brought MeLLLLLLL to EL.
It’s a parting gift, after Dantonio cashed in on a bonus - and, that gift will keep on giving.
Bronx, this is exactly right. Sparty took advantage of M and PSU having historically bad runs at just the right time for Sparty. Not to mention OSU’s poor transition year in 2011. If M and PSU had been at their historic averages during Mork’s tenure, they wouldn’t have won anything of note.
To be fair, he beat OSU a couple of times, maybe more, won the BIG, made the playoffs, and did well in bowl games.

MSU will absolutely benefit.
The last six MSU-OSU games have had an average score of 46-10. All were decided by at least 20 points. Not having to play OSU annually (which MSU likely wouldn’t in the new world) is the biggest gift State could possibly get.

I’ll bet that a lot of coaches would be interested at $95million over 10 years.
Literally just Walker carried them in 2021 (with also an absurd amount of luck). The other transfers weren't even good
but this jackass still has his job:

Don’t you mean “Pussy Of The Year” Ben Mathers?
oh yeah, that guy...
Total "bad ass" when the cameras are on and fucking scared piece of shit when he doesn't know he's being recorded 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕

They hit on one player from the portal, walker, have one good season, translate that to 10 years $95mm and tuck is the jimbo fisher of the B1G

Tunnel vision. Beats me who they might single out.

For his next act, Tuck should do porn. At climax he should scream Tuck cuuuuuuuumiiiiin! Sure to be a hit.
9 more years left before Sparty has a chance at relevance again!
