So, who is coming back next year?
Obviously the season isn't done, but I'm trying to figure out who is likely to come back or can come back? I'm not sure how the whole covid year thing works or if it still does, but I figured someone here would know much more about this stuff.
To all those that are moving on congrats on everything you accomplished and good luck! As always Beat Ohio Again.

I bet Corum is a Baltimore Raven by this time next year.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:21 PM ^
Ravens fans: Can we please get a Corum?
John Harbaugh: We already have a Corum at home.

Except with NFL money and NFL exposure his reach could be larger with his community outreach.

I'll be back next year. And the year after that. And every year.
What a magical ride. Go Blue!

Take a minute if you are a top recruit and look at the freshman playing a big role. Hence, coming back.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:15 PM ^
i’ll be there, for sure.

Big questions for next year:
1) Do the guards leave early? Keegan is a 4th year player with I think sophomore eligibility because COVID silliness. Quick scan says not really on NFL draft boards, should be back. Zinter is a third year player (also sophomore eligibility). He does appear on draft boards, looking like a 2nd or 3rd round pick. That's a tough call for him.
2) How much of a step back do we take from Olu? (hot take: I have him in my Heisman top ten, but I like taking weird positions for that) Seems like we have some guys we like and did well in mop up time, but Olu is incredible.
3) Do any of the pass rush potential dudes become actual dudes?
4) Who's the non-Colson LB?
5) How good can Mason Graham be, anyway?
6) College kickers?
November 27th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
I know Seth said Barrett has one last year of eligibility, this could be worth exploring for him if he sees any potential at LB at the next level. If he’s gone however, Rolder got meaningful snaps all year and you’ve got to think between Rolder, Colson, NHG, you can be confident there and that it’s possible some of the other young guys hit a level of playable. Guys like McLaurin and Pollard would be nice to see get to the levels of seeing extended time against bad non-con teams and when we’re up 3 scores on a west team or IU.

Sainristil does as well, and Harbaugh is lobbying both of those guys to come back. Getting Sainristil back would be a huge deal, incredible nickel back.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:36 PM ^
Sainristil's season was just absolutely incredible. He stepped into Dax Hill's shoes and hardly missed a beat
November 27th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Would be good, since he could play both ways, a la Welborne and Woodson
November 27th, 2022 at 1:52 PM ^
Sainristil had the type of year I wanted Jabrill and Dax to have. They were both awesome but I think people threw away from them, making the quieter than you would think. Sainristil was freaking everywhere this year.

4) Who's the non-Colson LB?
Hill-Green, right? Or is his injury a career ender? I have no idea what even happened to him. In my head, I imagine a knee injury?
November 27th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
I have been told only a season-ending injury for NHG, not career-ending… hoping that is still true.

And who's committing next year. Some 5 yr handshakes? Great to be in this position, great to be a Wolverine. Was a great Thanksgiving as well.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:40 PM ^
Hopefully all of the coaching staff.
November 27th, 2022 at 1:55 PM ^
That would be great, but it hasn't been our luck. Fingers crossed!!!
November 27th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
Already lost Poggi… hopefully that’s it.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
The biggest potential loss, and no one will want to hear this, is Harbaugh. I know what he said and I don’t think he will actively seek an NFL job, but if a good opportunity seeks him out it’s going to be hard for him to say no. And I think this year’s success has made him a more attractive candidate. I hope it doesn’t happen.
But regardless of which players leave, there’s every reason to think they can be as good or better next year than they are this year. McCarthy should be better, which is the biggest reason, and Edwards is obviously excellent. Hopefully, an impact receiver emerges from the current group or a transfer and they seem to have an inexhaustible supply of competent O-linemen. And Loveland is going to be a star and the best Michigan TE of the Harbaugh era.
On defense, Graham is also going to be a star, and there other promising young guys in the middle. I’m thinking the edge might be better, with Moore making the jump in his sophomore season and another year of Okie. The linebackers should also better, with a healthy Hill-Green and a more experienced Colson. Will Johnson will be yet another star in the secondary. The only significant downgrade may be the loss of Jake Moody (I assume he’s leaving), but also we have no idea how good his replacement is.
Meanwhile, OSU loses Stroud, Harrison Jr., Smith-Njigba and it’s best O-lineman. They’ll no doubt be replaced with talent, but there’s going to be a drop off. Michigan will be favored in next year’s Game.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:22 PM ^
Harrison jr. is a sophomore
November 27th, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
Not sure who exactly, but pretty sure that everyone returning will be either B1G Champs or back-to-back B1G Champs
November 27th, 2022 at 2:05 PM ^
Coach Shaw resigned from Stanford we should find a spot for him on the staff
November 27th, 2022 at 3:12 PM ^
He’s a great coach and educator and could probably fill Biff Poggi’s presence as Jim no doubt respects him
November 27th, 2022 at 4:58 PM ^
He's a great coach? At what? I don't know much about the guy.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:12 PM ^
I put this on another thread but Cade will go to Wisconsin or maybe Iowa and be really good
November 27th, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
I will contribute to any school outside the Big 10 recruiting McNamara. I do NOT want to face that guy.
November 27th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Just on speculation on who leaves, I would think next year our starters will look something like:
QB: JJ (Warren)
RB: Edwards (Stokes & Mullings)
WR: Anthony (Morris)
WR: Wilson (Clemons/Walker)
Slot: Henning
TE: Loveland
TE: All
LT: Persi
LG: El-Hadi
C: Crippen/Anderson
RG: Zinter or Barnhart if Zinter leaves
RT: Jones
Defense
DT: Graham
DT: Grant/Benny
DE: Moore
Edge: Okie/McGregor
LB: Colson
LB: Hill-Green (does Barrett have a year left still? If so him)
CB: Turner
CB: Johnson
Nickel: ? if Mikey leaves
S: Page/Moten
S: Moore
That is a damn good squad even after losing a lot of talent
November 27th, 2022 at 3:17 PM ^
I think Jenkins comes back which would be huge. Barrett has a Covid year left and coach wants he and sainristil back for that. If Sainristil goes I think Rod Moore plays nickel and you see Moten and Paige at safety with
November 27th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
The outlook for arguably the two most important position groups in college football looks great for UM next year with both elite talent and depth.
QB: JJ/Warren
DL: Graham/Grant, Jenkins/Benny, Okie/McGregor, Harrell/Moore
November 27th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
They need a wr. No confidence in Anthony. Can’t catch as we all know and seems to not correctly run routes.
November 27th, 2022 at 4:42 PM ^
Mike Barrett's dad liked a tweet that said "Both likely back." in reference to Sainristil & Barrett coming back next year
November 27th, 2022 at 5:06 PM ^
I’m really interested in if the following players will come back:
Rod Moore, Rj Moten, Sainristil. We’ll have lots of good competition with Keon Sabb, Zeke Berry coming into their own as sophomore
Erick All: he’s shown he’d be valuable in the NFL from what he’s done so far but I don’t think anyone not with the program knows the details on his surgery and prognosis to return to old form.
November 27th, 2022 at 5:39 PM ^
Don’t worry guys, I’ll still be here.
November 27th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
I plan on being back, hopefully not going away any time soon.
