The Snowflake Thread: Coaching

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

This will be a snowflake thread for coaching, although we have several and I realize I am therefore contributing to the problem here. Oh well.

Coaching staff has to go, and, another yet another typical coaching performance.

That being said it's clear a large segment of our players are just not as good as the competition.

Will new coaches lead to improved player performance?? I hope so, but they don't play QB, receiver or DB.

There clearly were guys playing hard on both O and D. the defense held decently despite a few glaring gaffes and being dealt the typical horrendous TOs with short rest.

The offense is a train wreck, worse then the Demetrius Brown and Chris Zurbrugg years. And it is not all due to the O line. Devein played and Hayes hustled, but the rest of the skill players were anything but, yes, even Funchess,

There is something systemically wrong with this program and it continues to get worse.

It has to start afresh the Monday after OSU, there will not be a bowl game this year. We may beat IU because they have lost their QB, but not OSU , MAryland or NW.

players, the recruiting services aren't wrong. the kids who have signed with us also had BIG time offers, we aren't the only ones who felt they were good. The problem is what Chris Spielman said, "our coaches do not develop talent." that's the problem. I'm glad it was called out on national tv.

We all know the truth now, that all that talk about the team struggling because the players were just too young and needed time to develop… was a bunch of crap. This coaching staff used that excuse for a long time to cover their tails. We all know the truth now, that it wasn’t really about youth, it was always more about poor coaching that was hindering the development. The oline isn’t a disaster anymore, but they still haven’t developed into a true traditional Michigan line. The oline doesn’t even look like they're on the way of reaching that standard anytime soon. The defense has it’s moments, but they’re far from steady and the offense is just horrible most of the time. Though the coaching staff use to hoodwink us by claiming that everybody was just too young, and that was the main reason for the bad play. Many of us tried to point out that other schools have young players performing well. It doesn’t necessarily take a long time to develop players… this may be a coaching staff issue. Though most of us stuck by what the coaches were saying. Let the truth shine bright as the sunlight.

extremely problematic today: 1) OL is awful - 3 years of utter futility, 2) WRs - just apathetic & sloppy, 3) QB - uh, baffling decisions and poor throws. Everything else is just problematic. Something is wrong with the program. It's not just Hoke; he's accountable but not the sole issue. Nuss' O was awful and I guarantee that he didn't forget how to coach from Bama last year and this year. GMatt has a D that cannot generate TOs or attack the LOS. RR failed at UM, yet he won at WV and Ariz. My guess is simply the overall culture of the AD doesn't create a sense of urgency to win, and win only. Guys were smiling on the sidelines and little anger/frustration. Perhaps the next coach has to pull scholarships to raise the players' urgency and he certainly must hire a S&C coach that creates high intensity because he spends more time with the players than any coach.

I just don't see intensity. Watching this LSU defense, they are always at the ball and hitting. Their intensity is evident on every play. We don't have that. We don't look like that. Sure, a few of the guys seemed to be trying to show some fire, but it just isn't believable. At one point today, it looked like Dantonio was reaming someone after a positive play. It's football. You have to have fire to play it. We don't. I don't know man. I'm just done at this point.

Like that would help. I'm mostly convinced that Hoke writes a playbook and doesn't let his OC do anything out of that book. I mean Borges was on par with this. Hoke is the common thread.

I want new coaches. New AD, just new.

In the last 7 years.... I met my Wife, got married, bought two houses, changed jobs, had two kids, and lost my best friend to cancer.

All the while, the one constant leisure activity: Michigan Football..... Has gone to shit. I'm always gonna be a fan, but I'm tired. Tired of analyzing, agonizing, anticipating the season, following recruiting.....

For what. This program is shit and doesn't deserve that much investment from me u til this university invests in the program

Anything more than yep losses per year : you're fired

Go longer than 3 years without a conference title: you're fired.

We should be demanding that level of excellence.

I absolutely loved (/s) watching the continued slow, plodding play of the offense late in the game when we're down 25 points.  Where is the fucking urgency?  If we hadn't squashed any semblance of a hurry up offense into the ether before this game, we sure as fuck did it in the fourth quarter.  Where's the pride?  Where's the swag?  Where's the fight?  Going, going, gone.  Time for a new regime.  Time for another outsider to take the reigns and reinvent Michigan Football.  Because I cannot stand this utter horseshit anymore.

And you didn't see any sense of urgency in the team and their play. Defense played hard. Offense is a sloppy horror show with no one making a play. Coaches used two weeks to change none of the things that have plagued the team all year. Epic fail.

I appreciated Nussmeier today, his enthusiasm was nice to see and I feel like he got somewhat creative with the offense.  Unforunately we were unable to capitaize on early field position advantages early in the game and, well, the rest is history.

The defense, for the most part, did their part.  Could've done without the 20+ yard plays from MSU but utimately they performed near expectation I would wager.

Hoke.  Well, leave Hoke in East Lansing and see if he really will walk to Ann Arbor.

I apologize to Rich Rodriguez if i ever said he was the worst coach in Michigan history. Clealry Hoke is the only person in that conversation despite Rich having the worst record.
