The Snowflake Thread: Coaching

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

This will be a snowflake thread for coaching, although we have several and I realize I am therefore contributing to the problem here. Oh well.

Is a sad day for Michigan football. IF coach Hoke loves Michigan like he claims he does he would not ride back with the team. He would resign tonight! The defense played pretty well , but the offense was TERRIBLE. Devin funchess will lose money every drop he has from today on. I will support Michigan football until the day I die, but hoke and company have to go NOW! I had to have a written note in front of me saying " it's just a game" to get me through it.

HC should be fired.

Defense is overrated.

Offense sucks partly due to gameplan, partly due to personnel.

When does Coach Heck get some heat for the shit that is our WR group? Multiple drops per game. Sloppy route running. Did I mention the drops? Not to mention they can't get open to save their lives

- it's not a bad thing to rip your players every now and then - clapping isn't always the best remedy - stop pampering them - example#1: lose the legends jerseys - stop dancing and laughing and having a good time - you're not good so why celebrate, last time I checked losing wasn't fun - don't worry about hurting other people's feelings (see Mark Dantoni) - don't just preach a "business-like" approach, embrace it - players too - coaches need to take respect back from players

Horrible as the game was, this is never a viewpoint i can get behind. "I had a bad time watching, so the players should have a bad time." Get over it. It was a terrible game but it's a game. The players should get what they can out of it, they don't owe you sadness or anger just because you feel it.

The defense played hard, but made several stupid mistakes, they don't learn from their mistakes and that is on the coaches.

Hoke is an idiot.  I don't care how much he cares for his players.  YOUR JOB IS TO WIN FOOTBALL GAMES!!!  And Hoke has no idea what he is doing.

This team hasn't been prepared to play one single game this year.  We are now lower than Purdue.

IS there anyone sticking for Hoke or Brandon now???  FIRE THEM ALL NOW!!!  The season is lost so who cares.  I hope there are 10k empty seats next week to guarantee Brandon is fired.  This program is a train wreck.

On first snap after that last TD hand to ref & everyone just walk off the field, locker rooms & home. Guess we'd have looked like petulant crybabies as well as losers but that was plain & simple rubbing our faces in it. Total DB move

Hoke sucks, most of plays were bad but I though there were some good calls and our guys didn't catch the ball. I thought he oline did fine, and Gardner played scared. Granted, there were some bad calls but I think they are called because our qb is not good, which is the coaches fault too. Funchess is not a first round talent. Needs another year, I'm sorry.

There are no positives to take from this game.  The team is bad, the coaching is horrible and the execution is simply not there.  They looked like a high school team today.

If the play gets worse every week, who do you blame?  THE COACHES ALL OF THEM!!!

A FG makes it a 3 score game.  Hypothetically, if everything after that would have played out the same way, we could have cut the lead down to 28-14 after our TD in the 4th Qtr.  I would have taken the three points at the time and at least kept ourselves in the game mentally with it being a 3 score game.

Is NOT a very good coach! Fire him and let nussmeier coach until the end of the season. Send the message that it's a privilege to coach/play at Michigan and not a right!

We can type in ALL CAPS all frustrated and it was gut wrenching watching that team on the field today. That's not the Michigan I grew up with or saw with Bo, Mo, Lloyd. That's probably the worst part for me. I feel for the athletes who are not trying to play badly. They are not trying to lose. They have been failed by the coaches who have not schemed well enough or put them in position to win.

Hoke had four years. He hasn't gotten it done. That's it. It's time to move on. Nothing more nothing less.

That said, as long as the narrative is about "how" Michigan wins (all this business about "the right way etc.) vs. simply winning then nothing will change. Michigan needs to accept elite candidates (Miles, Harbaugh etc.) with their issues, pay them whatever they need to and leave them alone (I'm looking at you AD office).

of watching Hoke's hand-clapping on the sidelines. Leave that to the team. Quit being a cheerleader and be a COACH. When we throw an interception, have a coaching moment and SHOW Devin what went wrong. Tell ppl when they blow coverage. You don't have to go all Brian Kelly on the kids but you have to step up and coach them. Makes me sick.

Eight weeks and counting.  Hoke should have never been hired, should have been canned after the bowl game last year and now must absolutely go.  Hoke simply is incompetent...a detriment not an asset.  Go home Hoke!

Honestly, I'm at the point where I'm not sure anything anyone would have done would even have mattered. Their players were obviously ready to run through a brick wall for this game; ours looked ready to survive 60 minutes so they could go home. That's a function of the entire damn thing having the wheels fall off.

It doesn't help when you're still running a draw on third and long, but really, we were cooked as soon as we hit the field today. Fire everyone.

then this program is in serious trouble for the long term.  He should be fired this week and Brad Bates needs to be hired ASAP.  Tehn talk to Jim Harbaugh and do whatever it takes to get him to sign a contract to come here the day after his season is over at San Fran.

This program needs someone who will HATE Dantonio as much as he hates us.

One more thing, I wish Mike Hart would have kept his arrogant mouth shut.  It has become the most embarassing moment this program has seen in a long time.  We are the little brother and will continue to be until Harbaugh can save this program.

So wrong. A basic power run play, everyone in the stadium knew it would be a run, they'd been running the ball EVERY FRIGGIN PLAY. They just said, "Stop Us." UM couldn't and now a bunch of pansies are whining about how classless Dantonio is while he beats the crap out of UM every year.

Loser's Refrain.

Mike Hart didn't fuck up the first, nor the second coaching search. Mike Hart didn't make sure that there was a succession plan in place in light of Lloyd's impending retirement. Mike Hart isn't coaching this damn football team. Did his words fire State up? Yeah, but why this team isn't reciprocating that same fire and hatred towards them falls squarely on the shoulders of one Brady Hoke.

The QB is the leader of a team especially the scoring side of the team..we have been plagued by bad QBs since 2008 and all these losses and not being able to compete with good teams are a reflection of it...DG makes DR look like Tom Brady..DR was a spread style QB but lets not forget how horrible his accuracy was, and once other defenses figured out how to stop hom then the game was lost, but at least he made people miss and the offense was built around him
msu last year played 3 diff qbs until they found Cook, why couldnt we do the same thing?? Also msu has had good qbs to make that program who it is..remember 2012 msu that went 6-6? How bad was their qb??
This game proves that not only coaching sucks but we dont have a skilled qb who can play and we have not had one in a looong time..i use to get mad at Chad Henne and his mistakes...i would kill for a guy like him now

the host of the "eye on college football" radio program had an nfl "insider" on who said look for chip kelley and Greg schiano to be connected to the Michigan job (and FL). said people in nfl are saying kelley belongs in college and that he prefers it to the nfl. thought that was interesting since I've never heard anything about kelley moving from nfl considering his success.
