Ratings for OSU-Mizzou will be...interesting.

Almost feel sorry for advertisers who are paying for spots for the Cotton Bowl. Unless many more viewers than I expect love to see players in their first game.

It's going to be that way for a lot of these bowls. So many players, especially QBs, in the portal or opting out.

Not sure what the solution is. I feel players should have an opportunity to transfer as they please, and December is probably the only window for many of them to do a midseason transfer before the second semester begins. But it is wrecking havoc on the postseason, and I have to imagine there will be some teams that make the playoff in future years that will have depth players enter the portal and transfer in the middle of the playoff.

Sponsors could play the players to compete in the game per NIL rules.  Perfect transition to the NFL.  Win your regular season games, and get a bonus.

The funny thing is that corporate can be so short-sided, they may actually start doing this to make revenue on just the bowls not realizing that the players can just start moving the goalposts.

If Harbaugh had the ability to turn someone into a top prospect, there would be some Michigan QBs in the NFL. The best any coach can do is help a player maximize their potential. There can be no doubt Harbaugh has done a great job at Michigan, but his record with QBs is spotty.

I don’t know about Bama, but 11 on day 1 isn’t good.  These kids couldn’t wait for bowl practices or the semester to end — the second they could, they signaled they wanted out.  If Bama had 20 I can’t imagine it was all day 1.  The list will likely grow for them.

It'll be interesting to see how everything shakes out over the next month or so. The top 4 will surely shed some talent as well post bowl games but yeah....11 is reeeealllly high for early December.

While I enjoy OSU pain as much as anyone I went through the list of players and didn't recognize most of those guys aside Fleming and Honda.  None are "true freshman" types either who left after year 1, so it looks to be a lot of guys in year 3 who are being processed or self processing themselves. Day is in desperation mode.

So just making room for more high 4* 5* incoming freshman and I am sure they are going to copy Michigan's successful process of NIL for older successful college players to supplement their stupid level of recruiting.

I think you nailed it. On the surface it may appear as though the "rats are jumping ship," but it's much more likely OSU is processing (or cutting) players.

I'd rather OSU be stuck with McCord than getting to, in essence, cut him and bring in another, better QB. Hopefully this will turn out to be another Joe Burrow situation and McCord goes elsewhere and becomes a star.

I guarantee that, within 24-48 hours, the narrative at 11W will be: "Our Executive incoming class is so strong that our roster will be even stronger after the portal & NFL departures.

Seems pretty important the family atmosphere that Harbaugh is cultivating in A2.  Not only is it preferable for Harbaugh by disposition (the guy has a massive biological family of his own), but it's a strategic thing to create a sense of belonging that can be a counterweight against bag money for certain student-athletes.  It's no accident that Harbaugh is always referencing "James Corum" and "Ray Sainristil" every chance he gets.

Pretty sure it's up to the school and/or player and depends on the situation. For example, Bryson Barnes from Utah is in the portal but is still going to play in their bowl game. His is a unique scenario, as he's currently the starting QB (and I believe is the only one left on the roster who's ever taken a meaningful snap), but almost assuredly won't be next season as Cam Rising is returning for another year.

There’s part of me that wonders whether the portal is in part to blame for things like tunnel gate. There’s always an intensity around certain rivalries, but at least back in the day most of the rosters were made up of guys who knew each other pretty well in high school and from the recruiting trail. These mercenary squads inherently lack the same connections, which is amplified by the kind of mindset that leads one to be a sell sword in the first place.

Seeing some rumors that Cam Ward is going to transfer there. Which is a big bet, on both sides of it.

Watched a lot of his football and he is either “wtf are you doing, why would you do that?!” to “oh damn, OK I can see why NFL scouts are looking”

but he will make some of the most boneheaded plays sometimes, which seems to happen more often than those eye popping ones

This is my thought. He makes some incredible plays and then turns around and throws a braindead pick or runs out of a perfect pocket and takes a 15-yard sack. Maybe he'll tighten up some of the stupid heroball stuff, but at this point I'd say it's pretty well baked in to his game.

I'm sure OSU thinks they need a gamechanger at QB after McCord, but honestly, he wasn't the problem. Their OL has been really bad (and not just for OSU standards) for a couple of years now. Ward may win them a game with some highlight stuff, but absolutely will lose them one on his own with something facepalm-worthy.
