Overall good not great seasons by both, just sad both are going to end with such a bad taste in your mouth.

we don't pay players or recruit felons and/or rapists.  limits our ability to get the 5*'s that the world craves. oh yeah, and we don't use banned PED's ala clemson.

that should sum up the relevant barriers to football superiority.

Either show the proof that Bama is paying players or drop the lame tired excuses, it’s embarrassing.  We’ve had our own share of sexual assault issues so you can drop that excuse too.  The fact is we don’t recruit well because we don’t win and players quit on the team the last two years, that not exciting for 4 and 5 star recruits.  You can make up you pathetic excuses or, If you’ve watched a game you could stop being an apologist and realize 4/5 star recruits don’t wont to play for us unless they are a fullback.  Our Offense is boring, predictable and stuck in the 70’s.  That may change this year but it sure as hell has impacted recruiting.  Those players don’t have to be paid to go to Bama, they go because they are innovative and they win.  OSU is bringing in top offensive talent because they are setting school records through the air and have had 2 RB’s at the 1000 yard mark.  Wake up.  As stated, show some proof of payment, reduce your cognitive dissonance regarding our player scandals or stfu and realize we are boring and predictable with a coach gaining the reputation of not being fun to work for and if we don’t change that we will be another two decades of making up excuses that don’t hold water.

F you Matty.   Yea I’m a little salty at the 13-7 second half of the season, it was garbage.  I don’t care that we lost to TT, I kinda care that we lost be a record large margin for our seed.  Ps, when you cite 2 games you’re forgetting the B1G tourney game we didn’t play.

That's not true at all. The past like 4 years they've had the highest assist % in the NCAA, hovering around 70% (warriors are around there).

I know 2016 wasn't a great year for us, and it ended hilariously for MSU, but MSU had a very modern offense in 2016.

Just a reminder that TheCube/Maizen/Old98/Diagonal Blue/Hei2man/Bluey/Shawn L Martin has never liked Beilein or Simpson. He called Simpson a bust two years ago when he was calling for Beilein to be fired (ironically, in part due to poor defense, but he was also critical of Beilein not recruiting "inner city players"). So when things go rough, he brings out a couple of accounts and pretends that he didn't disappear when Michigan won B1G tournaments and made the Final last year.

Since posts like this are really roundabout ways of him trying to say "I told you so" without admitting who he is or that he was flat wrong, they look kind of funny. But that's why you see the curious repetition in his arguments.

At least we have players on the football field. The coaching has been the issue there.

with basketball, this team somehow forgot how to shoot during the holiday break. Hopefully some of the young guys make the “Coach B Leap” next year. In Coach B I trust.

I definitely think these guys can score.

Iggy showed several times this season the capability of just going off and scoring a bunch of points.

I think Coach B will find a way to get these guys the ball in more favorable scoring situations next season.  He has all off season to examine some of the issues that were present for this season and adjust.

I think the Big 10 better get used to seeing Iggy flex.

They shoot well, but they need to be assisted. To do that, you need guys that can do more.

It's not like Beilein has somehow failed; he has built a good team with the players he has. But there are things they can't do this year. Nobody can win one-on-one consistently against mismatches; 3-5 are all below-average passers, which means that double-teams against them shut down the offense and force misses, turnovers, or full resets; Simpson can get into the lane but can't score well from there (his hook shots, today aside, are a great weapon, but he uses those from the baseline outside the lane and they don't pull defenders off of other players).

Poole gets too much flack, but there's a reason for it: This team would look a lot different with a 2 guard that could either dominate by driving to the hoop, or create his own 3 and hit it 40-45% of the time. Poole does neither of those things. His 37% 3-point shooting is weighted toward assisted shots, just like Iggy and Livers. The stuff he tosses up from NBA+ range or from stepbacks is considerably worse.

The upshot here is that there is nobody that is terrifying in the pick-and-roll. There are guys who are pretty good, but nobody that can take over a game the way guys like Walton, Stauskas, Levert, and Burke have in the past.

If Iggy comes back he could grow into that player. Maybe Poole takes the next step. But this year we didn't have that kind of guy.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind seeing Purdue continue to light it up and make a real run at it.  It was a fun game to watch tonight against Tennessee.

I think they have a legit shot at beating Virginia.

Meanwhile, MSU has a tough matchup against a very strong LSU team tomorrow night, and if they make it past them, they’ll likely face Duke.  Izzo’s record against Coach K is common knowledge at this point.

Yea when we think championship we think a Natty, not a conference that you SHOULD win every 3 years or so.   What happened this year?  We get racked by MSU during the reg season and they bounced us from the B1g tourney = we regressed.    Let’s just be happy that Sparty owned us and OSU beat us by a historic margin because at least we get our participation trophy’s.

PS.  The suckeys have the 12th ranked 2019 b-ball class with an average ranking over 98, buckle up because while we stand still or regress the rest of the conference is just getting better.  Welcome to the coming d case of “pretty good”. You can grab that participation trophy while I go puke in the corner

we blew the doors off north carolina, villanova, and purdue in the first half of the season, but losing to sparty and to a really good texas tech team means we “regressed” and the window has closed.

youre an idiot.

F u, you’re an IDIOT if you are too ignorant to see that the first half of a season doesn’t mean shit.  How did we do the second half of the season champ?? Go feel good about how amazing we were in November and our Dec 1 season peak when we beat Purdue.  PS, we didn’t lose to a really good TT team.  They are good and lost most of their scoring last year, we had a record setting loss for our seeding and missed the over under by 20 points.  It’s not a loss, it was a disgrace.  Idiot.

you think beilein or any of the players are using the word “disgrace?” of course not.  the only people using that word are whining entitled assholes like yourself who see every loss as a personal affront, and for whom every bad shooting night or bad afternoon passing the ball by a quarterback or running the football is yet another example of “not demanding the best,” or some other bullshit.

news flash - you’re not being ‘’honest” or “realistic.” you’re just being a dick.  i can say with absolute certainty that nobody wants to be around you at a game.  or on a message board, really.
