Shaka Smart rumors picking up steam and Texas fans are estatic

If you believe a prominent insider on Sam Webb's site this is where the winds are blowing currently. Webb also had a big update today on his hot board. Texas fans on their 247 site couldn't be happier btw.

I refuse to believe this. But at the same time, Manuel had no buyout in JB’s contract after he just interviewed for other jobs last year. So he might be this stupid

If that’s what it took then it wasn’t worth it, look where we are now!  So Coach K, Calipari, Izzo, none of them should have buyouts because their respective schools are just so honored to have them and don’t want to upset them?  Coaches have buyouts, this is a business.  There are only two reasons to not have a buyout for your coach: 1. You want them to leave but don’t want to fire them.  2. You have no idea how to run a business.  I don’t understand why people are having such a hard time grasping how bad we just got ripped off.

A $1-5 million buyout isn’t going to stop an NBA team from hiring a coach. Only legitimate reason to not include a buyout IMO is if that’s what it takes to keep a salary way down. Maybe JB wanted $5-8 million a year and Warde said we’ll stay around 4 but won’t include a buyout. But like I said, a few million bucks isn’t keeping a team from signing a coach

Maybe. But let's be honest--this is just the nattering of a thousand lemmings who have zero insight about any of this. A half year ago they were running toward one cliff edge screaming off with his head; two days ago they were gnashing their teach that their recently-adopted god was gone. And now they are looking for scapegoats in the ether. As my wife often says, men are much more hysterical than women.

You convince JB to stick it out ome more year, there's always the chance he'll change his mind and decide to stay in college ball. Not only that, we haven't hired our coach yet, let's see what we end up with before we call it RR part two.

I said this in another thread, but when we don't have a coach, everyone's line is "give them whatever they want to come here" when it comes to good candidates.  But when the good candidate is already here and we give him whatever he wants to stay, people think Warde is an idiot.  That logic makes absolutely no sense to me.  If Billy Donovan said "I'll come to Michigan for Beilein's salary provided there is no buyout" and we didn't go for it, people would freak the absolute fuck out.

Your last line - how can you be so certain? He's not going to be hired by an NBA team with a roster better than OKC's. Maybe he thinks Westbrook is holding him back, and that he would like a second chance to prove his NBA coaching potential. Or maybe he sees the writing on the wall and wants to land somewhere with a little bit more job security - Michigan could conceivably offer more years in a deal than any NBA team would be willing to.

Yesterday you post Porter Moser threads of the sky is falling. Sam comes on the air and says he doesn't think that's happening.

Today it's this.

You're enjoying this aren't you?

Hey Maizen. Why didn't you post the update earlier where Dotman said Michigan IS showing interest in Billy Donovan?

You aren't seeing the big picture. Maizen is part of a vast conspiracy to make us all happy to get Moser.

If you threaten us with Becky Hammon and Shaka, then, Moser seems a reasonable choice.

Maizen is just running interference for Warde on this.
