hmm.. I remember in 2014-15 season when Beilein's team missed all tournaments.

I also remember the 2015-16 season in which we squeaked in as one of the play-in teams and got beat down by ND in the first round.

Were you amongst the fans screaming for beilein to be fired then? You should have been. Going from 2013 National championship team to missing the tournament.

Nope, because I wasn't on here.

You should have been. Going from 2013 National championship team to missing the tournament.

Yes, a guy who literally built competent. winning programs at every place he had been and had spent decades as a head coach should have been fired a year after taking the program to within a few minutes of winning a title.

That's the exact same situation we are in now where the coach we have has never been a head coach anywhere, took over a Top 10 program and turned it into the worst team in the conference in his first 20 games, and has coached his seniors into some of the worst regression maybe ever witnessed.

Those two are the exact same situations.  /s (in case it was obvious)

I don't know if you are just the ultimate troll or really just don't know that much about sports (and remember that context is key about sports).

Whether you like it or not, current, the recruiting class is ranked 4th Nationally.  That's a fact, so yea, its pretty much the best class Michigan has had in a very long time.  Even if Todd never stepps foot on campus, we still have 3 Top 100 Players.  Facts are Facts.

Everyone, fans and pundits alike, knew this year would be a down year for Michigan Basketball, it was to be expected.  You made a comment down below that if JB came here this year we would be top 3 in the conference, are you seriously?  Ok fine, reverse the jobs:  JB walks in with no Mathews, No Poole, No Iggy and No Yak...yea sure, we would be top 3 in the Big Ten.  Give me a Break, we would probably be in the same boat and I bet you no way we have a Top 4 rated recruiting class.

Speaking of recruiting, Yea a PG (Zeb) that doesn't start for his own team.. Did you forget the part where he transferred to Montverde Academy, the best team in the country and is sitting behind 2 guys that are ranked in the Top 10.  Nope, you conveniently left that part out.

Stop Cherry picking facts and look at the whole in context.  This bad year was expected.  Do I wish we were winning more, hell yea I do, but it is what it is.  Not to mention, If you aren't calling for Harbaugh's head yet, then shut the fuck up about Howard.

i.e. "You don't post masturbatory comments about how great Juwan is, therefore, you are a troll, or a stupid doo-doo head who "doesn't know sports" like I know them!"

Starting out great here!

Whether you like it or not, current, the recruiting class is ranked 4th Nationally.

Where did I say it was untrue the class was top 5?  I didn't.  Facts are Facts.  I said Todd isn't coming here.  And the Todd is the only reason the class is in the top 5 is because of Todd.

Everyone, fans and pundits alike, knew this year would be a down year for Michigan Basketball,

"Down year" =/= dead last in the conference and having 2 senior multi-year starters regress to freshman-level play.  But sure.  I would agree with you here that pundits and fans all felt, in the summer and early fall that UM wouldn't be a top 10 team like they had been so frequently under JB.

You made a comment down below that if JB came here this year we would be top 3 in the conference, are you seriously?

Yes, I was serious.   How many games has UM lost because of dog shit coaching from Juwan and his crew?

  • Minnesota
  • At Iowa
  • Illinois in Crisler
  • PSU

Flip those 4 games and the team is 6-2 and in 3rd place.

Give me a Break, we would probably be in the same boat

Disagree.  JB proved himself as a head man for decades.  JB wins those games with better coaching decisions in-game and better practice principles before them.

I bet you no way we have a Top 4 rated recruiting class.

Again with this recruiting class meme.  I can't wait for the 2020 class shit to end.  When Todd and Christoper are playing somewhere else, maybe then everyone will realize Juwan's reputation is smoke and mirrors.

Yea a PG (Zeb) that doesn't start for his own team.. Did you forget the part where he transferred to Montverde Academy, the best team in the country and is sitting behind 2 guys that are ranked in the Top 10.

So he isn't as good as his teammates, but he's a huge coup for Juwan who has already proved that PGs regress under him, even multi-year senior starters.  Great!

Stop Cherry picking facts and look at the whole in context. This bad year was expected.

Not a single solitary soul predicted UM would be 1 game way from dead last place in the B1G.  Come on man - you know that's true.  Juwan is far worse than anyone guessed or hoped.  This is worst-case scenario type stuff and but in hindsight, pretty much exactly what we all should expected when they hired a guy who has never been a head coach anywhere and hadn't been anywhere near a college team/game in over 2 decades.

This was a disaster waiting to happen.

Not to mention, If you aren't calling for Harbaugh's head yet, then shut the fuck up about Howard.

Now we are bringing football in a discussion about Juwan Howard? Harbaugh has nothing to do with this situation.  We are talking only about Juwan.  Let's stay on topic and shut the fuck up about anything else.

Speaking of shutting the fuck up -how about you actually expand on why Zeb isn’t starting and tell the whole picture instead of acting like you’re the fucking High School Basketball King? Zeb left Toledo to go play with his friends on a National level. A choice he made on his own accord. Also gave up the “more than likely” chance of also being named Mr. Basketball.

I am unsure I agree with "this bad year was expected"....2.5 starters back and quite a few quality sophomores along with two quality freshmen....as I have said on numerous occasions...I was not expecting a B1G title but there is more than enough talent to finish near the top of the league....I hope Howard and company will figure it out.

Michigan was named the top athletic department in college sports recently.

It's about more than just football and men's basketball here. Maybe not to mental midgets like you, though.

Well, if DDJ wants to be the starting PG next year, this is the beginning of his official audition. Sucks to not have Simpson on the floor, but I have to believe there was a good reason for the suspension.

this game is less of a "must win" and more of a "absolutely cannot lose"

Winning doesn't really help, but losing will put us on a runaway train into the NIT.

I really hope the guys can pull this off

I think this is shaping up to be a lost season. I guess that's fine in the grand scheme of things since it was going to be a rebuilding year anyway, even if Beilein hadn't left. Beilein only won 10 games in his first season, which is probably fewer than Tommy Amaker would have won (he also had an embarrassing loss to Amaker's Harvard team). And yet, I think Beilein worked out quite nicely.

I'm still excited for the future of the Juwan Howard era, given how he's been recruiting. I just hope he's learning on the job and that his gameplanning, X's and O's, and lineup choices are vastly improved next season (and I'm sure they will be).

I mean, I get your point but it's a binary result so must win and cannot lose is the same thing.  Winning helps tremendously in that it means we didn't lose to Nebraska and fall to 2-7 in the conference which would indeed put us barreling toward the NIT.

Well, this ain't no good. I don't think he's ever missed a game in all of his 3.5 years on the team, for suspension, injury, or any other reason. Let's hope DeJulius/Brooks can step up.

As an aside, when the majority of replies to a board post are about nitpicks on the post itself rather than substantive commentary on the subject of the post, you know the board has gone off the rails and is in need of some corrective action.

Zach Shaw tweeting that they were unaware of whatever transpired to earn a suspension:

@_ZachShaw

It's obviously a press conference, so take that for what you will, but both Eli Brooks and Jon Teske said unprompted that they didn't know what happened with Zavier Simpson. Simpson apparently texted everyone that he wasn't traveling to Nebraska, but not much else.

I’m not sure why everyone isn’t saying the obvious. Juwan obviously reads this board, saw all the posts asking him to give DDJ a shot & now he’s responding.

This is Juwan giving the board what they want.

I think Xavier being out could end up being a good thing for the team.  Watching the games, he’s a great player, but he’s doing too much.  We need more players involved/stepping up.  1 or 2 players touching ball each possession is not going to win many games.  I’m hoping his being out gives inspiration to DDJ, Brooks, and Wagner to step up and play better as a team when they don’t have anyone to lean on.
