Roll Call - UM fans attending/staying home & reasons

Submitted by 907_UM Nanook on January 6th, 2024 at 3:08 PM

We need the best fan juju attending the game in Houston, and fans who seem to only attend games when the team loses - take one for the team & stay home, buy a bigger flat screen.

I personally fall into the latter category, having traveled from Alaska to watch Michigan/OSU losses between '17 - '19 & the Bball Natty in San Antonio in '18.

Please, for the team, look yourself in the mirror & be honest with yourself today. We only need the best fan juju in Houston, there's still time to sell your game tix to "winners".

Staying home.  Wife and kids all go back to school on Monday, and struggling to find a job after completing my master's has put a bit of a dent in my travel budget.

But the family will be wearing team colors and rooting hard.  I hope everyone going to Houston has a blast, and that the good guys bring home that trophy!   GO BLUE!!

After a two-week work trip in Sweden, I’ll be home for 36 hours before flying back out to Houston Monday morning. MGoWife (a Badger) is doing me a real solid.

When I wear my jersey for regular season games, Michigan is 35-0 but when I wear it for bowls they are 0-2. I did not wear my jersey on Monday and do not plan to this Monday either. I solved the juju, guys

Prompted by OP, I just reflected on my history as an in-person fan and realized I haven't seen Michigan lose since the Missouri game in 1969 (my sophomore year).

That's not why I'm attending Monday night. I'm doing that because it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Michigan go for a national football title (at least so far!). Yes, I watched the 1998 Rose Bowl on tv.

Today, we bought our tickets (Section 338, on the Michigan side), got our hotel room (I think the last one close to the stadium) and our flights (and they were scarce).

To everyone who, for reasons of superstition or despite superstition, will be in Houston, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU. GO, BLUE!!!

On my way down tomorrow for the 3 and half hour drive but no ticket yet. I’m 2-1 for 〽️ games attended. Ever since Blake mentioned coming back to win the championship at the hockey or basketball game last year…I have to be in Houston. Looking forward to the most magical ending to such a trying season. Go Blue!

Humor aside, I want to be on record as overjoyed for any fans that can attend the Natty in Houston! Definitely agree that if you picked the Rose instead, that was totally worth it.

I've become superstitious since I've owned boats, probably just need to go to an early season MAC game to get over the schneid. Go Blue & someone buy Craig Ross a beer for me.

In my Hotel room in Houston. I'm in section 139. I bought my flights and tickets for the Rose Bowl and Title game on August 18th. Took a leap of faith.

If I'm not working on Monday, my client loses her husband's life insurance. He is terminal. God has a plan. I didn't know until yesterday. I struggled so much last week. I am at peace now. Go Blue!!!

They have never lost a game I've attended. Both Orlando bowl games against Florida in Carrs last game & Jim's first in '16 and Michigan Illinois at home in 2012. Alas *insert Kevin Hart joke* the way my checking account is set up, these games will never be in the cards for my occupation. I hope all that are going bring the best of luck.

Lived and when to school in Ann Arbor from kindergarten through college.  Was a freshman when Harbaugh was a senior.  Never went to a bowl game until this year.  Moved to San Diego in 2020 and said if Michigan ever goes to the Rose Bowl, I'm there.  So my wife and I went and it was worth the wait.  Unbelievable atmosphere and obviously the ending couldn't have been better.  Right after the last stop on Milroe, my wife asked how much were tickets to Houston.  We decided to save the money (2 kids in college) and watch at home.  CAN'T WAIT.  GO BLUE!!!

It's a lot of fucking money, if it wasn't for that we would all be there.  Idk, im nervous for tomorrow and this post just seemed really aloof.
