A rational article on the national media coverage of signgate
Didn't see this posted yesterday. Just thought the author did a good job of laying out the crazy runaway train that the national media has been with all this.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:03 PM ^
So, a notional rational national rationale?
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Not to mention nationally rotational.
November 2nd, 2023 at 3:57 PM ^
+1 informational.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:04 PM ^
And here's a rational international article, for good measure:
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:47 PM ^
It’s the same article
November 2nd, 2023 at 3:51 PM ^
But smarter.
November 2nd, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
You have to read it in an English accent.
November 2nd, 2023 at 4:04 PM ^
With tea.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:04 PM ^
Thanks for the link as the article is spot on. Michigan should not be facing any sort of punishment prior to the completion of an investigation.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
Why? The info they have is enough to punish.
Those responsible should be gone.
The players did nothing wrong. The team should play on and surprise, they will still win.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Is this sarcasm? If not, show an example of a coach or program getting meaningful penalties for any violation in the past ten years.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Not sarcasm. Check posting history.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:35 PM ^
Not sarcasm.
The team has the components to win and win big.
Why allow tarnish and/or jeopardize Ws and titles?
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:59 PM ^
What came out? One staffer may or may not have done something wrong. No proof and not even clear if it is not legal. UNC was proven to have faked it for 200 students. Did they fire everyone top to bottom all the professors, admin, etc. NO. So, get this shit outta here.
November 2nd, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
Hey, the NCAA can come down hard when it needs to and it's warranted. I remember there was a team back in the day that had extra practices or stretching of some kind, as well as a non-coaching assistant providing tips to the players which constituted coaching. Surprised they got off as light as they did and didn't get the death penalty for such an egregious violation of the rules and damage to the integrity of the game.
do I really have to /s?
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
Nine years of trolling? That's an L itself.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Anyone who fails to agree with you is a troll?
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:01 PM ^
obvious troll is obvious
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
Bit early in the day to be hitting the bottle, isn't it?
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:19 PM ^
I was thinking more along the lines of crack pipe...
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:34 PM ^
There's literally 0 evidence provided.
Go get fucked, Dumbass?
Can I say that? Don't care, just did...
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:46 PM ^
Sure, that's it! It's all made up! That's the reason the lead perp was fired and the HC is on the hot seat.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:56 PM ^
Still suspended with pay, isn't he?
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:00 PM ^
Hot seat? LOL. They are trying to extend his contract because he is so HOT
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:38 PM ^
Buckeye troll loser shit right here.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:21 PM ^
Stalions is suspended. You even asserted elsewhere (incorrectly) that he was fired, which means you already thought he was gone when you made this post.
So what are you even concerned about?
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:31 PM ^
I hope you are not an attorney.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:44 PM ^
What information do you 100% know “they have”? Not news leaks with unnamed sources. Actual facts
November 2nd, 2023 at 4:08 PM ^
So this is what you decided to go with for your first post in two years? Bold strategy, cotton.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:37 PM ^
Dewey was a lawyer. I've heard stories that when he'd enter a meeting, people would often hum or whistle "Hail to the Chief" even years after this headline.
Brutal.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
You'll never guess the latest scandal that's hitting the news now. I'm not posting it.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:28 PM ^
Let me guess...does it include the phrases "Zach Smith," "Instagram," and "underage solicitation"?
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Ooohhhhhh... The author, Christopher Breiling, is going to lose his access key to the executive rest room inside the 'journalist' secret enclave...
November 2nd, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
He's the Michigan writer (and fan), so not surprising that he took a measured approach to the article - which is more than anyone can say for the muckrakers out there like Thamel, Dinich, Steven A Smith, Mandel, et al.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:11 PM ^
We have come full circle now. Didn't SI start all this? Now we have SI calling out anyone reporting rumors and all the media douche bags who are just spewing nonsense.
I like the article and I am glad someone wrote it. I also like the fact that he specifically said about waiting to know if coaches knew anything about this.
Hope more articles come out like this.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
Proof of an organization where the Left hand doesn't know what the Right hand is doing, all for the sake of driving clicks.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
No. SI posted an article about Stalions but ESPN and The Athletic have been the primary culprits. Yahoo Sports dipped their toes in but decided this was too stupid to swim.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:42 PM ^
Oh there are. I've seen a couple other recent published articles that more or less articulate that the media is just out for clicks and the situational facts be damned.
November 2nd, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^
Didn't SI start all this?
Uh, no. It was Yahoo. Also, this is an article on basically a fan blog section of SI.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:12 PM ^
From the subtitle to the article: "as well as producing a lot of clicks along the way".
Do any of the pundits, or authors, of "stuff on the web", including perspectives and speculation about this issue - actually care if they get "a lot of clicks"?
My view - many of those pundits and authors care more about clicks than the content of what they produce.
Thanks for the link...
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
Even Urban Meyer basically a lot of reporting is bullshit.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
Yes, but notice that the slimy fucker got his shots in after positioning himself as a voice of reason / restraint:
“I also heard people say that ‘Well, everyone does that.’ And Tim, no one does that," Meyer continued. "I’ve never heard of that in 40 years of being around the game."
Yeah, right.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
If Urban Meyer said it, it must be true…
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:02 PM ^
Well, let us give him the benefit of the doubt. He only knows how to kick people and finger them.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
Michigan and Jim Harbaugh mouthpiece, pfft...
Ps. Yes, this is sarcasm.
Go Blue! Beat Purdue.
November 2nd, 2023 at 1:25 PM ^
And I’d add a rational local take, before any of us jump off the ledge, read this:

November 2nd, 2023 at 2:05 PM ^
Pretty much sums up how the majority of this board is thinking.
November 2nd, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
Exactly.
