I hope he gets his head on straight.  Quinn has all the potential in the world.  He could be the best kicker in the league if he's able to get his act together.

I know there's been rumblings of Nordin being a head case, but is there any actual evidence/reports on this?

From what I've seen, he seems like a pretty normal young guy, not perfect but fine. Outside of the "Do your f'ing job" outburst, which could be chalked up to getting caught on camera being frustrated at blowing kicks, is there any other reason to think he would be problematic? He even stuck around after losing his job to Moody, which seems to speak positively about him.

I'd think his accuracy would be the bigger factor in determining if he has an NFL future since that's been suspect at times and the NFL has short leashes on young kickers. Unless I'm missing something, I don't think his attitude is so problematic that it would ruin his career.

Getting his head on straight / getting his act together can have nothing to do with being an attitude problem. When it comes to place kicking,  so much of the art is mental.   In that sense, it is not unlike putting.    Look out if you get the yips.  And once you go from thinking, "I'm going to make this" to "I hope I don't miss this," bad things start happening.  Just watch how badly I can miss a 5 foot putt for a primer.  Nordin was yanking, shanking and knuckle-balling kicks so much that even PAT's were a high-wire act.  The thing is, we all saw his talent as a freshman and what he was capable of. But somewhere he lost his mojo.  All of us hope he "gets his head on straight" and starts hitting 60-yarders with regularity and makes 50-yarders look like a walk in the park.  At which point, we'll all then think, "thanks, where was this when you were kicking for M."

I sincerely wish Quinn the best. But hopefully he gets things figured out, on and off the field. Yelling at your teammates ("Do your fucking job!") is not a good look. I also seem to recall a situation where an assistant had to separate him and Harbaugh (or am I imagining this?). Belichick doesn't seem like the kind of coach that would put up with being yelled at by one of his players.

Nordin never developed any consistency here.  I hope he can get it figured out for the NFL.  They have pretty much zero tolerance for kickers.  Make most of your kicks or you are gone.

Yep. Quinn's had an NFL leg pretty much his whole time in college but the inconsistency will make his time in the NFL short. I still remember the Lions cutting that rookie kicker from BC when he went 0/3 against the Bills I think like 5-10 years ago. No tolerance for inconsistency

For sure. Coaches value certainty. Especially a coach like Belichick, who has worked with Vinatieri and Gostkowski.

Do you have 1) a guy who's automatic from 41 but basically 50/50 from 42, or 2) a guy who CAN hit from any range up to 55 at about a 66% rate?

They'll take Guy #1 if they have any choice in the matter.
