I promise that I will not be the starting Quarterback next year.
I agree with pastaParty, Orji is a contender in 2024, presuming JJ leaves. I love his legs, and his passing in the spring game was much better than I expected. Can he master the offense? Don’t know, but I don’t know if Davis can either.
No need to worry about next year, especially with a chance that a) JJ returns, (b) Underwood arrives or (c) the portal offers plenty of options. The portal alone changes everything for a school like Michigan, which will tend to get the pick of the litter. Plus Davis or Warren could step up. So many possibilities.
Underwood will not be here next year as he is a 2025 QB.
Underwood is not even committed and we will be for a massive fight to win his services. Also…he will be a senior in high school in 2024
Given the portal, I don't think that recruiting QB out from high school is as important as before.
This tracks for every spot. Portal has changed high school recruiting.
Doesn't Tuttle have two years ?
Most likely a grad transfer qb in 24.
Wow! We're talking national championship or bust this year and you're talking about next year? Enjoy the moment, my dude.
Davis Warren ?
Davis Warren looks really smooth to me in limited snaps. My prediction is he is the next starting QB and will play great ball.
I think if we win a NC this year it will be mission accomplished and JJ will head off to the NFL (may be Harbaugh as well?). If we fall short again, I think JJ will be back for his 4th season. Jaydin could start as a Fr in 2024 if JJ leaves for the NFL. But we'll see if he is the best QB after spring and summer camp but one of these years he will be the starter.
One word, "Orji"
Davis Warren? We will see how he does in some mop up duty this season. There are always possibilities of taking a transfer who is ready to play.
Every year the portal has many experienced QB wanting one chance to play for a championship. If you take one, at bare minimum your QB room has depth and leadership even if they don’t start. Seems like scholarship limits are a thing of the past with NIL.
Too soon to worry.
If McCarthy had a.great year and goes pro, more than likely there will be no shortage of QBs available via the portal
these days, why worry about it?
Very strong rumors that the Smith twins might both flip to Kentucky. That would suck
It is not a rumor that you make more unfounded, outlandish statements than anyone else on this forum.
Go Blue
I get the urge to look ahead, but as someone that has been a die hard since the early '80s strap in and enjoy this season. Next year the playoff format changes, the conference changes, lots of stuff changes. This is the most anticipated season since at least 2007 (hopefully it goes better obviously).
There will be a time to talk next year, it is not now.
Go Blue!
I too think Orji has a chance of starting next year. On top of that, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a role this season; not as large as JJ McCarthy‘s freshman year role, but, a roll with packages design specifically for his skill set. I would trust Orji handling the ball in the red zone, near the goal line, more than a linebacker turned running back. God bless Kalel Mullings.
I want to enjoy this season and won't think about the 2024 QB situation until the 2023 concludes. We all want the same goal for this coming season for this team. Hopefully, it will come to fruition.
Michigan is a favorite to win a national championship and the Lions are expected to compete for the division and make a playoff run. I have enough anxiety/potential heartbreak to get through this year, much less thinking about next year. Let's hope the team can stay healthy, play to their potential and bring home the natty.
BPONE is like herpes. You have it for life.
True freshmen are coming in more and more ready from the get-go nowadays, but don’t sleep on Davis Warren. He has a lot of talent. Also, I don’t think it’s a sure bet McCarthy leaves.
No way Davis starts next season unless he is the second coming of Trevor Lawrence.
Davis Warren has a very good chance $.02
Cumong man. We are set up for a great 2023. Anything about 2024 / 2025 play on the field is pointless -- so many things could happen between now and then. Hell, we appear to have a fantastic team culture right now, and JJ just might decide to stay on for 2024.
Hahahahahahahaha!!
Michigan feels good after getting Bryce on campus this weekend. They believe Campbell has really done a great job with his recruitment. Kirk is an ascending coach. Don’t be surprised if Campbell becomes a CO-OC once Moore moves on to be a head coach somewhere.
