I’m all in for this season. So much can happen between now and fall 2024. For yours and all of our mental health, enjoy these great times!
I think Davis Warren might get a shot. Might be a 2 qb year. I'm not sure on Davis. I hope he has it but that's asking a lot from a freshman. Underwood didn't make the trip. He's at LSU. This feels... Not great. Would be nice to grab a couple commits this weekend
I really wouldn’t start getting beat up about 2025 just yet.
Recruits will commit, decommit, transfer in, transfer out - you have no idea what the roster or the QB room is going to look like in 2025.
How about we enjoy 2023 first?
Just all for conversation. Our thoughts have no baring on the teams outcome
The poster I replied to was worried about a 2025 recruit (who had already been on campus a dozen times) not attending the BBQ this weekend.
That’s no way to live life, son.
Not worried. Didn't really need a post but since the topic was "future quarterbacking", I think Underwood news is pretty relevant.
That was kind of my thought, I feel like we take a dip unless/until Underwood, 🤞
I see it as a giant nothing burger. He’s visited dozens of times, IIRC there was something about him using Michigan facilities or staff or something along those lines for training, he’ll no doubt be visiting dozens more times. And his tentative commit date isn’t for another 5 months.
I don’t think his attendance for a specific weekend at Michigan means much of anything. Whether he attends the BBQ or not is irrelevant, but fwiw he IS trying to make it back in time to attend.
I'm not sure the mods would approve baring, especially in light of the stories coming from a couple of programs.
Trieu has mentioned that Underwood is trying to fly back in and make it up to the BBQ tomorrow.
I prefer to live in the now. '23 is OUR year.
I understand that 100% but 24 season will come eventually
But you don’t have enough information to make educated forecasts - WAY TOO MANY variables can and will change between now and then.
What did the 2022 season forecast look like in July 2021?
I didn't have much faith in the 2021 team after 2020, but they proved me and alot of people wrong. The team now is so stacked, I'm assuming we will lose alot of players
I know, I know! 'The Kid Can't Throw The Deep Ball'
JJ will stay in order to go 4-0 against the Buckeyes.
that would be so legendary
Yep, the NFL says he’s got things to work on.
Troy Smith agrees.
Too soon?

As long as it’s in the end zone I don’t really care
"That's what she said..."
There will be a QB battle and Davis will start next season. Guaranteed!
If any Davis starts next year, it’s Warren.
Until I read your post, I assumed this whole thread was about Davis Warren! LOL
JJ will be here 4 years.
Assuming JJ leaves, Harbaugh will 100% hit the portal for a QB, at a bare minimum to bring in someone who can compete for the job, if not someone who he expects to win it outright. As far as who that will be….who the heck knows.
Going into spring ball expecting to hand the reins over to a true freshman QB is a very risky proposition, for any coach really. With Harbaugh being as risk averse as he is, I’d be shocked if he doesn’t hit the portal and try to land a guy who he believes can start for a year or two.
Davis is the future, but I doubt Harbaugh wants to hand him the reins as a true freshman.
Harbaugh won’t be here next year… this is it, it’s this year or bust. Half the team is gone, can’t recruit, MSU and Tuck are coming, we can’t beat the Buckeyes, USC will run all over all the teams in the Big Ten…

This guy /s’s.
If McCarthy is projected as a 1st rounder, he goes to the NFL. If Harbaugh is offered a job, he goes to the NFL.
Apparently the league is done with Jim. He’s all ours.
Seriously? You read last off season wrong. Harbaugh wanted to come back because this is the best team he’s ever had, and his best chance to win it all. Next off season will be a different story. As you may have noticed, he didn’t sign a big extension with a big buyout. Whose choice do you think that was?
I just have a gut feeling about Davis Warren. This kid obviously knows how to fight and in matters that are way more important than football. He seems to always rise to the occasion. He has very good accuracy and enough speed and quickness to keep the defense nervous. I think if JJ leaves after this season, he will be the starter next season.
Potential hot take: I kinda expect McCarthy to stay for his 4th year unless he absolutely lights the world on fire.
This will be another RB year in terms of how our offense goes, and while many a QB has made a pro career on the back of a good rushing attack, many of the most recent 1st round QBs had the offense go through them.
JJ can’t be ignorant of what pro scouts want to see. The modern QB has to be able to put the team on his back. JJ is probably close, but I don’t see this year, with Corum and Edwards being Star 1 and Star 2, as the year that McCarthy takes himself pro
This is wishful thinking at its finest. McCarthy is already a top 3/4 QB prospect for 2024, he's already being mocked in the first round.
JJ will be the youngest 1st round QB prospect on the board and NFL teams are obviously aware that Harbaugh's offense doesn't showcase the QB.
If scouts are waiting for JJs 4000 yard passing season he'll *never* get drafted, but they aren't. McCarthy will show more than enough this season to be a top 15 pick.
Coach was not joking when he stated that JJ has the upside of the NFL's 2 best QBs. And I am not going to doubt him in this regard. Clearly he is a very intelligent and physically gifted young man. The rumors from more informed sources are that he is a first round pick right now and possibly #1 overall if he continues to demonstrate signs of ascending. What JJ did last year was despite having no off season. I expect JJ to be a better pro than college player-college coaching staffs play it safe (don't know what to do) with these elitely talented kids which slows down and impedes their development. The NFL can't wait to get their hands on this young man.
Plus all things considered the NFL schedule is much more balanced. Big college programs in the best conferences play maybe 4 or 5 games a year that they could "potentially" lose. Week to week you don't need superstar QB play in college.
Who is mocking him in the first round? https://www.pff.com/news/draft-early-2024-nfl-draft-quarterback-rankings-caleb-williams-drake-maye-bo-nix
There are some excellent quarterbacks graduating after this season, and I do think McCarthy will need another year to get an early first round spot in 2025. Even if we win the National Championship, he could improve his draft stock with another season.
I think aliens will determine our QB next season

Don't think JJ will be a top 5 QB prospect, so I think his NIL potential will make it easy for him to return in 24. A senior year without Corum/Edwards will make his senior season one for the record books.
The OL will still be great next year. Looks like JH has got us back to being an OL factory. I think one of the younger backs will have a break out season in 2024.
Hoping JJ and Dono return for the burn. Nothing like welcoming USC with an L along with more sparty/ Bucky beat downs.
