I'll need to consult with my family's Nigerian prince.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:11 PM ^
Only do that after you provide all relevant financial information including routing, account numbers, and balances.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:24 PM ^
Or what? You're not going to unlock my computer and stop the annoying siren "Microsoft Windows Help Desk" associate!?
September 14th, 2023 at 6:21 PM ^
Fuck I don’t remember my password from 1996.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
1996?
Was the password in sanskrit?
September 14th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
Cuneiform
September 14th, 2023 at 8:37 PM ^
I think it was yrddub. What ever happened to bud dry?
Please don’t hack into the three emails I sent during college.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:34 PM ^
I miss telnet.
There, I said it.
September 14th, 2023 at 8:31 PM ^
You can still use it in some places...
September 15th, 2023 at 11:47 AM ^
Like, the Pentagon?
September 14th, 2023 at 9:56 PM ^
Can I get a ytalk? Finger?
Anyone?
September 15th, 2023 at 7:14 AM ^
Omg, wow, I had forgotten about those. Used ytalk all the time.
September 15th, 2023 at 7:27 AM ^
Try Biakabutuka313. That was like half of all umich.edu passwords in 1996.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:29 PM ^
Just don't make it the same password that an idiot would have on his luggage.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:35 PM ^
I use the password 12345, personally. But NEVER give out your password to strangers.
September 14th, 2023 at 8:12 PM ^
mgoblog is like family, so no problem
September 14th, 2023 at 6:34 PM ^
Nobody will ever guess my password. It’s the most secure password on earth! I’d like to see some random blackhatter guess that my password is 87&:@;)Ah&12as.._weQ1
No way they’ll guess that at random or via brute force. Maybe next time, hackers.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:34 PM ^
You should have added characters like `70}C$$0f{(59}]]Y/',GB^*
September 14th, 2023 at 8:21 PM ^
That password looks like a post from ghost of Jerome or whatever the username is.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:35 PM ^
You're not the boss of me. I'll do what I want!
September 14th, 2023 at 6:43 PM ^
When I was a student, way back before electricity, everyone's University ID # was their Social Security Number.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
Yikes!
September 14th, 2023 at 8:40 PM ^
At the time, nobody thought anything about it. Heck, I used an engraver to put my SSN on my bicycle to ID it if it was ever stolen. It was a beauty...a Dutch-manufactured Pegasus c. 1972. Wish I still had it; hope hackers don't trace the bike back to me and steal my identity.
September 14th, 2023 at 6:49 PM ^
In typical UofM fashion, they “corrected” that issue by adding one digit to the end of the SSN.
BTW, 35 years later and my UMich email lives on. Speaking of ancient technology, I forward my umich email to my aol account.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:00 PM ^
Are you checking that AOL email using Netscape Navigator?
September 14th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
I'm still accessing my email on my PS-2 via Prodigy.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
Is that 14.4 modem still going strong?
September 14th, 2023 at 7:30 PM ^
So your AOL email account has been pwned at ... four different companies now?
September 14th, 2023 at 8:31 PM ^
Looking my Gandolf lighting up at the moment.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:37 PM ^
Yep, and we wrote that "student ID number" on everything. Blue book exams, papers we handed in, you name it. We were still doing this in 1999. Granted, like someone mentioned, there was an additional number at the end of it, but still, people would react with horror now if that was still the policy! And yes, I just changed my UM password on my account from 1995. I keep it for the nostalgia.
September 15th, 2023 at 2:26 PM ^
We were still doing this in 2017 lol. Still have that UMID # seared into my brain.
September 14th, 2023 at 8:21 PM ^
I still have my ID card from 1987 with my social right on the front. The entire thing, not just the last four numbers.
September 14th, 2023 at 11:38 PM ^
Circa 1981, replacement card my senior year (hence lack of term validations)
September 16th, 2023 at 7:53 AM ^
Wow, the image of that card sure brings back memories for me.
September 15th, 2023 at 6:28 AM ^
The military still uses your ssn for most everything as far as I know. They try to keep it to just the last 4 most of the time but it always feels weird giving out the whole thing when I go to the VA or something!
September 14th, 2023 at 7:13 PM ^
I just use 8 asterisks since that's what always shows up when I type
September 15th, 2023 at 1:01 AM ^
Fockin' Brilliant.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:13 PM ^
Everyone at UM. Students, alums, faculty, staff, and retirees.
September 14th, 2023 at 7:52 PM ^
Thanks, Weiss
September 14th, 2023 at 7:52 PM ^
nice try hacker
September 14th, 2023 at 7:58 PM ^
What password would you prefer?
September 14th, 2023 at 8:00 PM ^
Thread appears to lack at least one earnest response; so, thanks! Officially. Updated.
September 14th, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
How do I trust this isn't a scam itself!?!?!?
September 14th, 2023 at 8:25 PM ^
The intruders must have gotten away with the password hashes. What a mess.
September 14th, 2023 at 8:55 PM ^
my ctools account! Is it safe? Is it alright?
September 14th, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
14 characters!!! 14!!!!
That’s how many games we are gonna win before we get to the national championship.
September 14th, 2023 at 10:38 PM ^
Only 14? They made me type 15.
