OT: What is your Christmas dinner?

Submitted by Kevin C on December 25th, 2023 at 12:01 PM

Pinwheel ribeye caps for me.  (Best part of the prime rib, in steak form).

Salad, veggies, and rolls on the side.  Shortbread cookies and ice cream for dessert.

Changed things up this year.  Korean barbecue.  Pork and Beef on the grill this very moment.  Rice, kimchi, garlic, lettuce, bean sprouts and more.

Same.  Just finished a veggie egg caserol bake with bacon, pancakes and toast on the side.

Started the day with mimosas and shifting now to Christmas Ale (Thirsty Dog brewery) to watch football.

Will eat the Thai carry out leftovers from last night when I get hungry again.

Merry Christmas!

Seafood!  My wife's aunt had a different take on a seafood dinner yesterday.  She made baked salmon, baked cod, scallops, crab cakes, and shrimp scampi.  Also had the sides - baby red potatoes, green beans, broccoli, orzo, hollandaise, and the breads.  It was all soo good - that woman can cook!  It was such a nice change from turkey...

Prime rib with rosemary thyme garlic butter and homemade horseradish sauce. Redskin taters and asparagus sides. Meijer does a prime rib sale every year at Christmas (7.99/lb this year) and it has become a tradition for us.

Marinated beef tenderloin roast (rosemary, garlic, red wine vinegar, olive oil and soy sauce)

baked cheesy hash browns with sour cream (easier and better than twice-stuffed potatoes),

green bean casserole with mushrooms and crispy onions,

my own garden salad (romaine lettuce, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, cucumber, croutons, chopped red onions, sliced mini peppers, shreaded sharp cheddar cheese, balsamic vinegar vinaigrette dressing)

coconut custard pie

Filet Mignon sea salted and peppered, seared in butter and soy sauce. Broccoli with butter, salt, and shaved parmesan. Homemade honeycrisp apple bread (moist brown sugar cake) with pecans for dessert.

Enjoying the football games today, zipping up the house tomorrow, and starting the 2100 mile drive  from Detroit to Fort Mohave AZ first thing Wednesday with wife and dog. 4 months of sunshine, and when thermometer hits 100, coming straight back to the great state of Michigan.

Merry Christmas and Go Blue!

Today we feast. The highlights are city chicken (veal and pork), kielbasa (smoked and fresh), pierogi, mashed potatoes, and some sort of vegetable dish my sister brings that everyone pretends to enjoy.

I usually bake something, but this year I cheated and bought a cake from New Palace Bakery for dessert. Also, when did cakes start costing $30?
