OT: What will preoccupy your time this fall aside from Michigan football?

Submitted by Hail to the Vi… on August 27th, 2021 at 11:43 PM

For me, I have a couple DIY projects at the house. Painting and refurbishing the living room and upgrading the master closet. Taking a long weekend road trip to Virginia Beach in early October to visit some old friends.

As for the lazy Sunday's I have available, probably the same routine of flipping channel between the Lion's getting smoked and whatever movie TBS is playing that I've seen a thousand times.

Ehh I was just fucking around. Not in a bad mood at all.

But in the spirit of the thread, I got a TON to do this fall/winter.

Now that 1/2 inch OSB is down to $14 a sheet I am going to finish putting plywood over the insulation on the walls of my 25x36 ft shop. About 1/2 done so far. Ceiling is ~14 ft. Insulating the ceiling is next year. But it would be nice to be able to have full insulation since I have a fridge, furnace, couch, chairs, coffee table, tv, etc. in the shop along with the tractor and some toys. Movie night with the boys is always fun. Soon to be a urinal in there.

Until then, I have to build a table for the new table saw. Need the table saw to be able to rip more 8 foot sheets of plywood. Also would like it as a supplement to my chop saw to build the bed my wife wants. We sleep on a California king and she wants a red oak floating bed with a 7 foot wide headboard (or salvage old barn wood) with matching end tables.

That by spring. At some point I need to finish the basement too. Wife is more ambitious with my skills and age than I am.

Yeah. Young kids for me too. While my son was humming the Blues Bros yesterday, they don’t have nearly the attention span to get through much of a football game. Even on tv. So as Michigan falls apart this year (I hope not but feels likely) I will easily give in to their asks to join them outside or playing wherever.

Getting remarried in September, maybe a bit of fall golf. Looking into doing a fall color tour in the state forests with the new side by side 4 wheeler. Just enjoying life and time with my new lady.

My surfboard and my Corvette.  In fact, if the surf is gnarly I may just record the game and hit the beach.

There is an old saying in the surf world:  if the waves are good enough--BREAK PROMISES!

Well, planning to leave Korea after this semester, January or February, so probably should get on some things like selling my snowboard and bike and seeing what else I can start doing. My university is private and said we'd be online again this semester. If things get better in Thailand I'm hoping I can teach while hanging out in Chiang Mai.

JV field hockey man. She's a goalie.

As intensely as you ever watched a M football game - never comes close to watching your own kid compete. I'm up and down the sideline pacing like early Schembechler.

Also, she's a pitcher and has the fall travel softball season coming up. When she pitches I basically don't breathe

Counting down the days until football season is over. Don’t watch Michigan games live and there is more than enough to keep me busy. Mowing the lawn, raking leaves, other random projects that will pop up around the house. Also will usually go for a run to help me avoid the game.

Moving. We have been renting since we moved to South Carolina 6 years ago and we are finally buying a house. To top it off it’s brand new too! Closing in early October.

Moving  a UniSaw into my basement. MFer is heavy. Broke down into 5 main pieces and still feel the base is too heavy for a 60 year old to move up steps and back down another set of steps.

Need a new TV and want that hooked up before the Washington game. We are in the caveman era, still have a "fat TV." Don't have a clue as to what I will and no longer need from Xfinity. Suggestions?

Taking care of my own yard, and just my own yard.

Mostly moved the table saw just now. The table alone is 113 lbs. The motor is 77 lbs. My back is not meant for that kind of lifting anymore.

It is a beautiful antique. My father had it in his basement for as long as I can remember. I am sure it has cut miles of wood and at least one finger.

I will watch far more Washington football and the NFL on a whole than college. I'll attend some Ohio U football games, and catch a Michigan game here and there if I'm out somewhere with games on. Other than that it will be Halloween stuff and camping!

Another trip to the UP for the fall colors.

A possible road trip to Nebraska, combining football with a visit to my niece & her family in Missouri and a couple scenic side trips.

I got new onewheel xr that I'll be trying to not kill myself on! Only have about 10 miles on it so far so I plan on getting some more miles under me before winter.
