OT: What are you wearing?

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on March 31st, 2020 at 11:02 AM

Am I the only one that pretty much lives in a bathrobe and slippers now?  Apparently people are still buying shirts, but not pants, which I fully support.

Or are you still getting up, showering, shaving, and dressing for work, even though the commute is measured in feet instead of miles?

And thank you to everyone still going to work for keeping us alive.  Doctors, nurses, grocery clerks, warehouse employees, garbage men, gas station attendants, etc.  You're all heroes in my book.

I realized when I went for a bike ride last night that it was the first time in several days that I put on underwear.  Had done laundry & the drawer was FULL.

Pretty much have kept one pair of pants & a hoody to throw on if needed, but living in sweats or lounge pants.

I have shaved once in the past three weeks and have pretty much stopped using deodorant.

I'm gross as hell these days.

I saw a FB post the other day asking how many times a friend could wear her jeans before washing them.

I'm like, uhhhh, I haven't taken off basketball shorts in 3 weeks. Why the hell would you wear jeans just around the house LOL?

Who actually wears a bathrobe?

But I digress...  I am getting up via alarm (though much later than I otherwise would), showering (with all of the associated 'things'), and somewhat dressing - PJ pants in lieu of khaki's.  I have also begun to use the elliptical before showering, since I no longer have to commute 110 miles for work (total - that's ~2.5-3.5 hours back in my life each day).

However, when I do actually leave the house, I try to stay quite safe.  Clorox wipes in the car to wipe everything down once I get back in (hands, keys, wallet/debit card, door handles, etc).  Also try to wear the same pants and shirt, at least until the wife washes them.  I'm not too paranoid about it, no gloves or mask, but yeah, I wipe everything down with bleach wipes and try to limit runs as much as I can.

Sweatpants and a sweatshirt daily unless I'm on a video call for work.

Then it's sweatpants and a nice shirt.

And slippers.  All slippers all the time.

BTW, kinda related to this post, my spending has gone to virtually nothing.  Just food and booze (mostly booze).

Same with the slippers.  Make sure you throw them in the wash once in while though.  Waiting until I could smell them was a mistake.

My spending is also way down.  I filled the cars up 2 weeks ago and both still are more than 3/4 full.  I never realized just how much working from the office, instead of from home, actually cost me.

I wear socks with my slippers.

One of my many quirks is that I really dislike wearing any sort of footwear without socks.  Thus why I stay away from any footwear that looks wrong with socks.  Very much dislike flip flops.

Echo the spending reduction and also echo that most of my spending is going to wine and alcohol.

My wife and kids are still doing some online purchasing.

My U of M freshman son talked me in to a new computer.  What made it challenging is that he's sort of nerdy.  So, the result was the arrival of ten different boxes of components over the course of a week...so it was a constant battle to keep him from bringing the boxes in the house...in an effort to try to keep coronavirus out of the house!

Similar but sweatpants (or workout pants) and t shirt.  Only had to do one video chat and stuck with the t-shirt as it was an internal call.

Barefoot 95% of the time.

Didn't shave for the first week and a half but got too itchy (and too gray).  Shaved it into a fu manchu because why not.  7 year old daughter HATES it and came into the room while we were watching Tiger King and yelped "Daddy that looks like you!!!"

Still spending lots of money on booze too but little else - although we support our local restaurants by ordering takeout 1-2 days a week.  Also drinking alot of the random bottles I somehow accumulated to reduce the overcrowding on my bar cart.. not enjoying it too much but looking forward to filling that newly empty space with more palatable bottles (mostly scotch)

I still shower daily, and shave when my wife says I'm too scratchy.

In terms of getting ready for work, I do change into a polo and jeans (office was polo/dress shirt & khakis). When I'm done working for the day I change to basketball shorts and a t-shirt. Getting into "work clothes" is one of those recommended things for working from home, and getting your mind right.
