OT: Urban Meyer predictions

Submitted by Amazinblu on May 7th, 2023 at 2:02 PM

I came across some recent predictions by Urban Meyer for the upcoming season.

First - the best roster in college football - Texas.

Second, the B1G West winner: Iowa.

Third, the Heisman Trophy: Marvin Harrison Jr.  I especially appreciated his objectivity when he said .. “If WE can get him the ball often enough.”    So, apparently Meyer still thinks he’s a Buckeye - the “we” reference - which is neither a surprise, nor representative of an objective analyst.

That’s for now… any thoughts?

Urban gonna Urban. Texas may have a great roster, but they will underachieve. Iowa’s just where the dart landed, and MH Jr.’s chances for a Heisman, at best, hinge on a rookie Quarterback. Give me USC’s QB over Marvin all day.  In other words, Urban is a monumental douche nozzle.

I predict that, unlike Ryan Day, Urban will earn his way to third base through hours of hard work in the bar of an Applebee's outside Dayton.

Marvin Harrison is a 1st round player but didn't do a lot against Michigan last year with Stroud as qb. No way he is winning the heisman with McCord as qb and trips to ND and Michigan with PSU at home. Besides him, you have Egbuka and a lot of unproven guys. Everyone is going to put a safety over to help against him.

MHJ is the best NFL WR prospect next year and probably over the past few years.  He’s an incredible talent, athlete,  and polished WR.  He’s bigger, faster, and stronger than his HOF dad while having all that knowledge, technique and exposure to the game imparted over the years.

In the long line of great OSU WRs, he is the best I’ve seen, even better than healthy JSN. That said, he’s still just a wideout and OSUs room full of 5* WRs doesn’t match up well against UMs meat grinding, bull dozing lines.  Will Johnson with some help over the top is more than enough to hold down MHJ, specifically with a new QB.

TLDR: MHJ is a generational talent, but championships aren’t won with a room full of great wideouts. OSU still soft.

I think he's wrong on all 3 points. Michigan has the best roster in CFB next season, either Illinois or Wisconsin should win the West, and the MHJ isn't going to win the Heisman. No matter how well he plays, his qb will have twice as many tds as one of their WRs does.

He’s setting himself to get the Texas job:

1. Talk up how great their roster is;

2. They underperform with that supposedly great roster;

3. Sarkisian gets fired for failing to get the most out of the great roster that Meyer talked up;

4. Meyer gets hired by Texas;

I think Meyer is looking for his next job and that comment was made with a purpose.  He doesn’t want the NFL disaster to be his final chapter and he knows Texas would be the perfect spot, with an outstanding recruiting base, Arch Manning already in pocket and a long history of under-achieving that has left the fan base thirsty for a proven winner. If Sarkisian doesn’t have a big year in 2023, I would not be surprised to see Meyer coaching there in 2024.

I would love to see Urban vs this current roster .He faced Michigan with Hoke ,Rich Rod and their recruits -- Harbaugh has roster to beat OSU

My thoughts,  Michigan will have a better record than the best roster in college football and wins vs Iowa and the Heisman winner..

I predict Urban will continue to be in media doing bullshit lists instead of coaching an actual football team. How's that?

I recall soundly thrashing them when they had Heisman winner Eddie George.

Urban feels safer predicting the Heisman winner as opposed to, you know,

The Game.

However, McCarthy wins it this year.

Harrison is a contender but with a new QB I doubt it happens, and Day will take heat for this now too if it doesn't happen.  Meyer is promoting Harrison by saying so but it's gonna backfire, just watch.
