OT - Michigan Question on Reddit College Football Trivia
So, I partcipate in reddit's college football page and they have weekly trivia on Tuesday. This week they had a question about Michigan and since it is OT season, I wanted to see if anyone can get it. I looked it up now and know the answer.
Question is: Only 4 current D1 teams have a winning record (strictly greater than .500) record vs Michigan in 4+ meetings. Name 2 of them. Can anyone name all 4. I will update in about an hour or so with the answers.
EDIT -- The correct answers are Cornell 6-12, Army 4-5, Utah 1-3 and USC 4-6. Those are the only D-1 teams that Michigan has a losing record against and has play 4 or more games. My source was the following link http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/042109aaa.html
Alabama and Florida State?
Didn't look anything up so neg away if wrong.
Florida State we only have played three times so it wouldn't count for this activity. and Alabama we are 2 and 2.
read that wrong. Carry on!
You are right that it is a Ivy League school. You have a one in eight chance to get it right.
Vance, Corley, and King
Got Army and Utah right away. One other comes to mind but I looked up and confirmed that way, no credit. When I looked that up, I discovered the other one, which I probably could have guessed but in reality was nowhere close to.
USC because of all of the losses in the Rose Bowl. I remember Army being a monster back in the day and that leading to Michigan's specialized platoon system, so I guessed them.
Forgot about Utah entirely, but probably should have known that. Cornell was a no way I know type answer.
2 out of the 3 are correct and the other two are not a Pac 12 team.
Bama
Florida State
USC
?
Bama we are 2-2 and Florida State 1-2 (doesn't count for this question). Usc is correct however.
Dammit.
Feels like the Texas Rose Bowl loss. So close. Could have gone either way.
We have not been on the winning side of one of those - a razor close coin-flip win against an elite opponent - since Alabama in the 2000 Orange Bowl. (I don't think of VT as truly elite.)
but "Under The Lights" was a pretty damn good feeling. And the reason we haven't come out on top, is because we haven't had many chances against elite teams. We were the Jews wandering the desert for 40 years (2007-Harbaugh). Things will change
The three you listed are correct. Yale is incorrect as we are 2-2 which is not above .500 but it is an Ivy League school.
Washington we are 7-5 but that is a good guess.
Utah is correct and I agree we need to get them back. I don't want to have a losing record to any Division 1 school
Princeton we are 2-1 all time against.
Isn't one someone like U of Chicago?
No, we actually did quite well against Chicago with an all time record of 19-7
gotcha, thanks.
...they've been D3 since they reintroduced football in 1968.
Yes, Yes, No, and No.
Yes, no, yes, and no. Notre Dame we have a 24-17-1 series lead.
Washington
USC
Ohio St. (I actually don't know this series)
Texas
Ick. Only one. I was going to go with Utah instead of Ohio St. actually. Texas was a throw away, knew that wasn't it.
No, yes, no, and no. We are 7-5 against Washington all time. We lead the series with OSU 58-49-6 and Texas we only played once and we won.
Michigan lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl though...
You are correct i looked at the 1 and thought it was in the win column my apologies.
We've only played the Longhorns once in our history.
I think this is 3/4 correct, with Nebraska being the exception.
You stole my thunder but you are correct. Nebraska is not the 4th.
I'll take USC, Army, Utah. Possibly Navy, but don't think so.
I will go with either Mississippi State or USC (South Carolina) as the other losing record based on recent bowl games.
Or FSU or Kansas State for that matter...sigh...
Navy is a no. We are 12-5-1 against Navy. We have a losing record against everyone else but we haven't played them enough to qualify for the question.
