OT: Late night laugh: Brian Kelly speaking like a true Louisianan
There's a video circulating on Twitter of Brian Kelly doing his Tressel-like welcome speech at the LSU basketball game, complete with his new southern accent. Authenticity is not that guy's strong suit.

I am very much looking forward to this dude getting smoked in the SEC. He probably won't last longer than Orgeron since he will finally be playing a real schedule for once.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:53 AM ^
Mama said "Brian Kelly is the devil".
Imagine the devil going on a recruiting trail with a fake southern accent. Hope is prepared for gator BBQ.

Just further proves the point: When you get your Bachelor's degree at Assumption University, you make an ass out of you and me
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:05 AM ^
This is cringe.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:17 AM ^
What an asshole. Seriously, how does that little act seem like a good idea to him? Why is he trying to sound southern? They know damn well where he is from. Lots of Northern coaches go down south and 99% don’t end up sounding like foghorn leghorn on ludes.
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:47 AM ^
Dang, this is the third time this Fall I’ve had coffee come out the nose! LOL, Foghorn Leghorn on ludes…!

LSU looking for a new coach in 3 years?
December 3rd, 2021 at 2:24 AM ^
What a phony. He's from Boston. And all of the sudden, he starts talking like Huey Long.
This shtick will wear off quickly if he doesn't win big within 2 years.
ND recruits well with most top kids from Catholic high schools in this country. The school recruits itself and so does the lore of the program's history. While Louisiana has great talent, you have much more competition in the SEC for top kids than you do at ND.
In the words of your Boston neighbor Will Hunting, "Do you like apples? How do you like them apples?"
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:23 AM ^
Baby Huey Kelly?
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:37 AM ^
Are you really arguing that ND is easier to recruit than LSU? I did a quick peak and ND has only 3 classes ranked higher than LSU in the last decade and if you took the time to average those classes it probably creates an even bigger gap.

The Purple Carpetbagger
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:53 AM ^
Brilliant, ROFLOL! I hope others on this board appreciate the clever humor of this comment!
December 3rd, 2021 at 2:41 AM ^
That phony will bark like a dog twice a day for 95 million dollars if you asked him to.
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:52 AM ^
So would I.
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:01 AM ^
Oldest trick in the book. Wherever you go, make them think you're one of them.
Politicians do it all the time.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:26 AM ^
Pretty sure he's the son of a politician.
December 3rd, 2021 at 4:31 AM ^
A total phony. Complete douchebaggery. Only thing authentic is his purple face. And for everyone who says he’s a great coach, just watch what happens when he doesn’t have the benefit of Notre Dame’s candy ass schedule to protect him and prop his team up.
December 3rd, 2021 at 5:00 AM ^
Nick Saban did the same thing. Accent appeared over night when they introduced him as LSU’s new coach.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:27 AM ^
At least Nick is from West Virginny. BK grew up in Don Brown country.
December 3rd, 2021 at 5:08 AM ^
may his time in baton rouge go as poorly as his faux-accent.
head shakingly bad. and the kids at ND who see this? i bet the social media response will be merciless and funny.
December 3rd, 2021 at 5:32 AM ^
LOL, I can't even bring myself to watch it.....
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:00 AM ^
"I haven't even won all my games yet."
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:23 AM ^
This is the real problem. The accent is ridiculous, but what kind of football coach talks about “his” wins?
In a sport in which you have a hundred players on your roster and a cadre of coaches and support staff. What an asshole.
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:10 AM ^
We all know the adage… “Speak softly, and carry a fake twang.”
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:21 AM ^
He is the epitome of an Asshat.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:09 AM ^
Close - his face reminds me more of a raging hemorrhoid.
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:31 AM ^
I watched the clip and didn't notice an accent. Of course prior to moving to IN I spen most of my adult live living in the South so maybe the accent has to be thicker for me to notice.
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:05 AM ^
Disappointed. Thought Crawfish Kelly would be barefoot and sporting cutoff jean shorts. Maybe that'll follow now that the accent has arrived?
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:15 AM ^
I do declare we’ll have the best football team this side of the Mississippi!
Just don’t kill anyone else, BK
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:39 AM ^
I hope the contract stipulates no access to a scissor lift when the winds blow in off the bayou. Of course, it's LSU, so as long as they win...
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:25 AM ^
This guy is a joke
December 3rd, 2021 at 10:55 AM ^
a bad, cringeworthy, embarrassing to even watch joke. Just wow.
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:26 AM ^
I could see why elite athletes in the most talent rich state per capita would want to stay in state and play for Coach O.
I can’t conceivably think why any of those athletes would want to play for Brian Kelly
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:54 AM ^
Hoo-eee! We’re gon’ beat them fellers over in Tuscaloosa next year.
I gar-own-tee!
December 3rd, 2021 at 7:59 AM ^
Am I the only one offended by the phrase "WON ALL MY GAMES"?
Those are team wins, university wins. They don't belong to you and you can't win alone.
I really hate to see people move and then fail as it is so damn painful for all involved (as long as Michigan wins it all) but this feels like a disaster about to unfold.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:15 AM ^
I also noticed, apparently 15 minutes after you. See below.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:14 AM ^
Tressel-like in one sense but—credit to Tressel—not really Tressel-like.
Tressel was about the team. BK leads with “I haven’t won all MY games yet.”
Not saying it makes him a bad coach, his teams do well. But it does make him a bad leader. His lack of leadership defies his football success. I guess he should be admired for that.
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:18 AM ^
Has he killed any LSU students yet?
Hurricane season should be interesting
December 3rd, 2021 at 8:29 AM ^
If you really want BK to feel at home in Louisiana, call him a Coonass. It's okay, honestly.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
read a few more lines into that link. not only is it okay, it couldn't possibly be more spot on:
The most popular folk etymology, however, stems from late Louisiana congressman and cultural activist James "Jimmy" Domengeaux, who maintained that "coonass" derived from the continental French word connasse.[2] According to the French Wiktionary, the French Larousse dictionary, and the French Wikipedia, connasse entered the French language at the beginning of the 19th century and the term translates loosely to "dirty prostitute".
bwahahaha

Asshole
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:00 AM ^
I have heard politicians put on phony accents all too often (insert your favorite here). First time I have heard a football coach do it. Hey, Brian, Saban doesn’t talk like that. Accents don’t matter, results do.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:16 PM ^
Aight
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:30 AM ^
Wow. Who is buying this ? Kind of insulting.
December 3rd, 2021 at 9:41 AM ^
Not gonna lie, I thought someone inserted the fake twang thing over the real audio. I thought....no fucking way is that real. I'm dying over here. How can you honestly even look these people in the eye and think they will believe ANYTHING you say.
Also, the whole "I haven't won all my games yet" is super cringy.
December 3rd, 2021 at 10:15 AM ^
My favorite part of Kelly going to LSU is that the whole CFB world is final realizing that Kelly is a scumbag
December 3rd, 2021 at 10:45 AM ^
I think Kelly is pond scum and has been for some time.
At the end of the 2006 season, Kelly left to accept the Cincinnati coaching vacancy three days after CMU won the 2006 MAC Championship. Kelly was named Cincinnati's head coach on December 3, 2006, following the departure of none other than Mark Dantonio. In an unusual move, Cincinnati elected not to appoint an interim coach and asked Kelly to assume his duties immediately by coaching the Bearcats in their bowl game. Central Michigan was also preparing for a bowl appearance, so while Kelly was in Cincinnati preparing the Bearcats, much of his staff remained at Central Michigan to coach the Chippewas. Following Central Michigan's 31–14 win in the Motor City Bowl on December 26, most of his staff joined him in Cincinnati, where they went on to coach Cincinnati to a 27–24 victory over Western Michigan University in that year's International Bowl on January 6. Cincinnati's victory gave Kelly the unique distinction of having defeated the same team twice in a season as coach of two different teams (Central Michigan had defeated Western Michigan 31–7 earlier that season).

Holy cow. That is .... not a really good southern accent, my dude.
