OT as it gets: UFO hearings
Between Barbieheimer and Hamburgergate the fact that intelligence officials testified under oath yesterday that the government has “non human” biological remains and craft materials seems to have gone unnoticed. Anyone watch? I didn’t catch it but reading up on what was testified, it seems quite extraordinary. Take me to your leader. (And yes I’m sure the aliens can play DT).
I don't get the impression Grusch believes what he's saying at all. The guy sounds like he took a masterclass in conspiracy mongering and self aggrandizement. I think he says what he can get away with ("subtlety" cloaked hearsay, mostly) and that which will further his notoriety. Some of the other witnesses come across as far more credible but they're also making far less extraordinary claims... Basically "We seen some shit we can't explain".
It must be pretty frustrating for the aliens who successfully travel millions of light years and always seem to crash somewhere in the southwest part of the United States.
It’s gotta be the auto pilot.
Vegas? Aliens love the buffet at the Tropicana.
It's been a minute for me, but IIRC the Rio has the best buffet in terms of roster depth and quality.
It’s like those Godzilla and Cloverfield monsters. They never strike Wichita or Mansfield or Corpus Christi. It’s always Tokyo or NYC.
They must be seeking PR - go where all the people are.
Gotta build that big monster brand.
The "intelligence officials" source? Trust me,bro.
As much as I want this to be true, as we have seen time and time again, including the past POTUS, government officials testify under oath all the time and lie all the time. Given the further caveat that this is testifying before Congress and not within the court system, it's even less likely we'd hear the truth.
Apparently, all of his sources are classified and not protected under the “Whistleblower Act”. He testified for 9 hrs in a sub committee where he was able to divulge classified materials (name names and places. )Again this is all in the notes from yesterday. Apparently some of the house members and senators in attendance were left speechless and was enough for Schumer to create a ufo disclosure bill that is attached to the defense bill.

Dude in question says Mussolini recovered a craft in 1933 and the Vatican helped turn it over to the US after he fell. And it's been kept secret for 90 years. Produced no actual evidence better than the government's denial, which is catnip to the conspiracy minded. Which sadly includes a lot of Congress.
It's a fact that Mussolini also made the UFO's run on time.
What big story out of DC also hit yesterday that this was meant to cover up?
I would lean towards this being bogus. And I don't mean that the government officials who testify are full of it- I think it would be easy to trick someone into believing they saw something and then testify about it before Congress.
Why would the government do this? They are always trying to keep their new technology secret, so why wouldn't they? Is it so hard to believe that the military has some sort of secret hologram projector that also creates a radar fingerprint?
And for those who want these aliens to be real... No you don't.
This guy Fermi Paradox’s
Seconded.
If there are aliens capable of reaching us, we better pray to whatever deity of our choosing (that allows for the exitance of other sentient beings) that the aliens don't spot us. If there's an alien species out there capable of reaching us, they're a metaphorical lion and we're ants. There is no upside to an ant begging for the attention of a lion.
There may be UFOs, but these UFOs are not aliens from another world. That's not to say there are no aliens from other worlds out there, just that the laws of physics severely impedes anyone from contacting them.
Not disagreeing but our laws of physics are infantile when it comes to understanding the universe.
Not really. The laws of physics are supposed to be applied evenly throughout the universe. For instance, nothing can go faster than the speed of light, so it would take even the most advanced civilizations many many years to reach us.
Nothing can go faster than the speed of light? Says who, our primitive, new life form? A million other life forms out there, past or current, are probably saying hold my beer.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love for us to learn how to go faster then the speed of light (i.e. folding space?), but there just isn't any evidence that anything can do so. And this has been tested over and over again by some of the most intelligent humans.
What I think is happening is that these "UFOs" are cool new human technology that was meant to remain confidential, but got out.
My point is, humans are at the infancy of their own evolution. Look how much we have evolved in 10 years. 20 years. 50 years. 1000 years.
And technology is accellerating at a greater and greater pace.
Im sure faster than light travel will be achieved (as long as we don't kill ourselves) and that even another technology will come along after that making that technology obsolete.
Sure. We've evolved really fast, but there are natural limits to everything. I put faster than light travel in the same category as time travel - purely fictional, but would be super cool if it could happen.
Infantile? I don't think so.
Yep. Aliens are real, but they've never been here, nor anywhere close.
Our laws of physics fall apart when meshing them with quantum physics. What if some other being has figured out the missing pieces we don't have?
Exactly. It’s not as if they actually would fly here. Probably bend space/time etc.
Space/time bending aliens, bothering to secretly visit earth, then often crashing and being seen/recorded.
vs
People buying into bs.
... Equally plausible.
While I'm no expert, but isn't quantum physics at the sub-atomic level, which would not apply trying to get a major spaceship to go really really fast.
Sub atomic aka what everything consists including space.
Would have been nice to read the comments and not see any political statements.
I've always wondered if an alien race would have politics. Like, what if they are on their way to attack us, and then they have an election and the incumbent loses. And the winner is a more progressive anti-invasionist and they decide to pull out at the last minute. Or they fail to agree on a budget and the alien government shuts down.
I think they are just private citizen space pervs who like doing anal probes.
Fair point though.
I think they are just private citizen space pervs who like doing anal probes.
I thought this was a safe space where we don't kink-shame
Sounds nonconsensual to me. I've never heard of anybody asking the aliens to do anal probes.
It's a moot point. We have reached the limits of what anal probing can teach us.
I mean, THEY have reached. They.
Back to evenyoubrutus's point. I would think anal probing costs money, right? Should be a line item in the alien space budget. Now how did that get past the alien legislative, financial oversight committee?
Unless they are some sort of Gestalt consciousness, of course they would have politics. I don't think you can remove politics from life without removing individual agency.
The only way possible is if they are eusocial in nature but I think that a eusocial species would never achieve the sort of engineering technology possible for intergalactic travel. That sort of technological achievement requires individual creativity and competitive nature.
¯\_ (ツ)_ /¯ One can dream, no?
People say a lot of shit under oath to Congress and nothing every happens with it, so put me in the "doubt" category
It's an indigenous spieces that lives in the Oceans, like spongebob; and SURPRISE!: humans are the aliens.
Try again M Night…we all see that twist coming 3 minutes in…
Truther than strange.
For the old Orbit readers.
Based on a cursory internet search I think these are the same retired guys who made similar claims months ago. They testified but also..."under oath" here doesn't necessarily mean anything because they're the ones making those claims. DOD said in response:
On Wednesday, Defense Department spokeswoman Susan Gough issued a statement saying the Pentagon's inquiries had not turned up "any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently," as The Associated Press reports.
If you want non-human biological remains you can come over to my house and clean the litter box. Win-win.
I'm all for aliens if we can find an under the radar (off the radar?) "3 and D" wing for Juwan.
I'm all for aliens if we can find an under the radar (off the radar?) "3 and D" wing for Juwan.
Look, I know you all want to think that aliens have omnipotent technological prowess but interstellar travel and particle beams are no match for the intransigence of Michigan's transfer admissions department.
My stance…who knows if it’s true. My other stance, if you really think we are the only life forms in the universe the odds are greatly against you.
I mean, their are at least trillions of galaxies with quadrillions of solar systems.
