OT: Indiana QB Peyton Ramsey transferring to Northwestern

Submitted by Maize in Cincy on March 9th, 2020 at 5:49 PM

Northwestern picked up a solid grad transfer QB.  They don't play UM but they do open the season against Sparty on Sept 5 so hopefully Ramsey will start off with a W.

Indiana will rely on the young and powerful Michael Penix.  The big question is can Penix stay erect all year, as he has had trouble finishing B1G games.  If he can, he will be coming into the big house the week before the OSU game.

While this topic was highlighted in the "over capacity on Sparty posts" thread, your title is much more effective and far less cryptic.    Upvote deserved.

Also, Northwestern is getting a decent QB option in Ramsey.    I fully expect the moribund Northwestern offense to benefit.

Is it Ramsey’s significantly higher completion percentage, better ypa, higher QBR or something else that makes you think Ramsey it worse than Patterson? Just wondering for those of us that actually pay attention. What’s the “sane fan” argument for Patterson being better? Better receivers? Just wondering how Patterson was so significantly better.

Agree.  I’m surprised Harbaugh didn’t make more of a push for him.  He’s not a stranger to transfer quarterbacks and with the recent Debord hire, this would’ve been an obvious move.

Lets just all hope this means we are so stocked full of talent at the QB position that Harbaugh isn’t worried.

Penix is a solid battle hardened kid. Other teams try to keep him down...but he can stay up all day and night if there is a night game. He just seems like he is full of blood and throbbing with energy..the way he thrusts the ball effortlessly. If the team can't get it going he can enviagraorate the offense. I mean he can throw it really sling it around and shoot it all over the place. His long game is solid but he needs to get a little thicker. Man that Penix if he gets as thick as I think he can get he'll split the competition wide open...nobody comes harder if he wants it he takes it!

Plus I heard he has a huge cock (Norm McDonald voice).

Hope he starts the season very well against Staee. QB could be very dicey for Staee this season. They could improve their O-line play but it may not make a huge difference if their QB is terrible.

Penix is long and thin, unorthodox motion, but accurate at finding targets.  Most  comfortable staying in the pocket.  Effective going deep, doesn't often rush, and will turn it over at times.

While I agree that Ramsey brings a lot to the table, I think you'll see a vas deferens in the Indiana offense next season with Penix under center.
