OT: Favorite quote or phrase?
I hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday. I was just having a conversation about the best quotes that people have said or just sayings that you like to say.
Some of my favorite quotes and sayings are listed below in no particular order. What do you guys think of these? And what are some of your favorites? I hope everyone has a blessed safe weekend.
How can you get bored doin what you like to do. (Old family saying)
One crowded hour of glorious life is worth an age without a name.
A moment of pain is worth a lifetime of glory.
That is why no one will remember your name (said in response to someone telling you you’re crazy for attempting a hard feat)
You go on living life the best that you can and you try to have some fun along the way. (I try to live by this one)
6 one, one half dozen the other.
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
Harbaugh specials... “who’s got it better than us?”
”Fight on my men, I’m a little hurt, it not slain. I’ll lay down and bleed awhile and then I’ll rise to fight again”
He was great for me in NCAA Football.
So was Boubacar Cissoko!
I knew Boubacar slightly when he was here through his friends Meena & Liz, they called him Booby Car. He was funny and happy go lucky the times I was around him. No idea what was up with the crime spree :(
What a shame.
"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you." - Lewis B. Smedes

You have no chance to survive make your time.
Say goodnight to da bad guy
There's never gonna be another bad guy like me.
Not sure how well known factoid, but my man Zeke said in his book "Bad Boys" that the whole Bad Boys persona thing came from himself in response to some crap the team was getting from former Bull's exec turned NBA enforcer (Rod Thorn) for his airness and the press. Zeke had a meeting with the crew - starting with Lams, I'm sure - took this scene from Scarface, added some lightning and Bam! The Bad Boys were born.
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Literally Shawshank Redemption. The entire movie.
I didn’t see your post before I posted, but you are so right.
Get busy livin or get busy dyin.
Every man in Shawshank felt free. (not the greatest quote but my favorite scene)
I got champagne dreams but a beer budget.
There’s no such thing as a stupid question; just stupid people asking them.
Reminds me of.. “stupid is as stupid does”
“it comes down to a simple choice, really, get busy living or get busy dying.”
Great quote.
"Gas, Grass or Ass. Nobody rides for free." - some Hippie
Not really inspirational or anything but I mutter "Shut the fuck up, Donny" under my breath a few times a day when conversing with incompetent people.
Close but no cigar
Can't dance, too wet to plow
the last one usually stops my kids in their tracks, with a big "Huh?" as their response

not really a quote - but someone once told me ‘do something hard every day’. can’t say i’ve followed it to a t, but it’s a great piece of advice and, imo, really helps with personal growth/extending your comfort zone
"Man with hand in pants feel cocky all day" - most likely Confucius
Man who go through turnstile sideways Bangkok.
Elevator smell different to midget
-Confucius (allegedly)
This is the beginning of a new day.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever,
leaving in its place something I have traded for it.
I want it to be a gain, not a loss;
good, not evil;
success, not failure —
in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it today.
Love it, great quote.
my two favorites are from our locker room at yost back when i was playing (for a short while...):
'discipline, drive, desire'
'you are either getting better, or you're getting worse'
and one from the football side of things:
'those who stay will be champions'
Those who stay....great quote and likely couldn’t be truer
Funniest take on "those who stay": "And those who don't will be doctors, lawyers and captains of industry." From Bo's book, attributed to a lineman named John Prusecki, who didn't stay and became a great lawyer.
This made me think of one from my college weight room. Your opponent got stronger today what did you do?
"Sorry if already posted."
Raise the roof.
Get busy living or get busy dying
You can get what you expect or you can get what you accept, the choice is yours.
Pretty sure they’re all inexact at this point, but:
Do not assume malice in another’s actions when stupidity is an equally likely explanation.
Never use a five dollar word where a nickel word will do.
Write drunk, edit sober.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
The plural of anecdote is not data.
The road to hell one was a favorite of my mother. She also liked to tell me when I ask for something she deemed unreasonable: “People in hell want ice water, too”
Pretty much every Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) line from Heat.
"You saw a guy... on the street, who's an ex con? Well, I am OVER fuckin' whelmed."
"Who? Who? What are you, a fucking owl?"
"Cause she's got a great ass... and you got your head all the way up it! Ferocious, aren't I? When I think of asses, a woman's ass, something comes out of me."
"Ralph... You know, you can ball my wife if she wants you to. You can lounge around here on her sofa, in her ex-husband's dead-tech, post-modernistic bullshit house if you want to. But you do not get to watch my fucking television set"

Don't be on the tracks when the train is coming
Started a a job about 35 years ago after my freshman year, old guy says one of the first mornings “Summer help, some are not”. Still one of my favorite jobs —patching roads for the DPW in Wyandotte.

I had to think for a second about the name, but I knew the quote for sure. Saw them at the Fillmore last year. Still put on a good show.
If you waste today crying over yesterday, you'll be able to waste tomorrow crying over today
