Best: The Ref
Worst: Jingle all the way

Top spot has to go to A Christmas Story, all time classic.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:04 AM ^
My wifes favorite movie... we've even been to the Christmas Story house in Cleveland. They have a little gift shop, too.

In both nightlight and desktop sizes.
Fun fact, the guy that had the idea to start making and selling those is now very wealthy.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:39 AM ^
We also have said lamps in both sizes... not my choice, though...

Flick who?

Christmas story is absolutely fantastic and a must watch for me every time Christmas comes around.
I was so excited to watch it with my kids as when I was their age I thought it was the best, and it BOMBED with them. Thinking about it, I realized as a child of the 80's the experiences I had growing up were broadly similar to Ralphie's experiences in A Christmas Story, maybe it was a little old fashioned but I could relate. For a kid now, A Christmas Story must seem like it was filmed on a different planet.
You know what movie they just loved though....Home Alone. Not sure if I should be happy they started drawing up plans for defending the house or worried that I have my very own generation of Jigsaws growing up under my roof.

In addition to ones that have been mentioned, I enjoyed the animated "A Christmas Carol" (Jim Carrey as Scrooge). Looks like it'd be for kids, but definitely isn't.
Also It's a Wonderful Life, every Christmas Eve.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:03 AM ^
Scrooged, Die Hard, Bad Santa, and Elf are all watched annually in my house. But I'll watch pretty much any Christmas movie or cartoon. Especially the claymation suff from the 60's.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:04 AM ^
I always loved Home Alone, my girlfriend is unhealthily obsessed with Elf.
I also have a soft spot for Jingle All the Way (a.k.a. "Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad battle over a doll") since my little sister used to watch it every year.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:13 AM ^
And Phil Hartman is great in it!
You also get to see Vern Troyer get punched (mini Santa). The movie is terrible in every sense, but that's what makes it great. Arnold is such a terrible father.

PUT ZZZZZ COOKIE DOWN!
Love Jingle All The Way. Even funnier/more messed up as an adult. Bombs in the mail, children being kidnapped, poor parenting hahaha.

Home Alone 1 and 2, the Grinch, and the George C. Scott Christmas Carol.
edit: and somehow I missed It's A Wonderful Life.
Worst? A Christmas Story is probably not the worst, but it's thoroughly overrated.

Christmas Carol is definitely a solid #4 for George C Scott, after Patton, Dr. Strangelove, and:
<DOINK!>

Trick question, there are no good christmas movies.

Trading Places!

"OK, Google.. is Die Hard a Christmas Movie".
Google: "WTF"
Actually, I did google this and there are many sites that consider it so.. although I wouldn't consider it as such.

Hey, the Don was shot right before Christmas, Kay and Mike discuss Christmas presents, Sollozo and Tom Hagan meet somewhere with Christmas trees for sale outside.
Yep definitely a family friendly Christmas movie classic.

Probably the only series ever when two movies back-to-back make a marathon.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:10 AM ^
Can't do it. Won't do it. But some of my faves include:
Elf, Scrooged, White Christmas (Bing Crosby version), Its a Wonderful Life, Christmas Story, Home Alone, Christmas Vaction, and I agree with MaizeandBlueWahoo....the George C Scott version of Chirstmas Carol is the best.
Worst? Saving Christmas (Kirk Cameron) and I'm not fond of Surviving Christmas either (Ben Affleck).
December 10th, 2015 at 11:40 AM ^
But we can agree on another Affleck epic - Reindeer Games. That's probably top 5 films all time, right?

Its right up there with Gigli.

Beat me to it. I was scrolling through amazed that no one had mentioned this.

Always thought of that as a Halloween movie really.

Best: Bad Santa and Scrooged
December 10th, 2015 at 11:12 AM ^
Gremlins is one of my favorites. Not often thought of as a holiday movie. But I dig it.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:12 AM ^
Best Classic Christmas Movie: "It's a Wonderful Life"
Best Family Christmas Movie: "Home Alone"
Best Comedy Christmas Movie (3 way tie): "Christmas Vacation," "A Christmas Story," "Scrooged"
Best Action Christmas Movie: "Die Hard"
Best Hipster Christmas Movie: "Happy Christmas"
WORST CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVAR: "Love Actually"
December 10th, 2015 at 11:19 AM ^
That movie is so damn bad. The kid-love-story is cute, the rest is trash. The worst is the dude who the movie makes you think is gay, but turns out he's just in love with his best friend's wife! Then, he does this whole "cute" confession of love to her! you know, HIS BEST FRIEND'S WIFE!
Trash.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:21 AM ^
LOVE ACTUALLY IS THE BEST MOVIE EVAHHH PERIOD
Oddly, it is my favorite christmas movie as it has the best drinking game to go with it.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:27 AM ^
Please share the drinking game rules.
Unless they are "Turn off Love Actually and go to the bar" I have a hard time seeing a drinking game making that movie tolerable.
December 10th, 2015 at 1:19 PM ^
Anytime someone swears, kisses someone, or says "love" you drink. This alone will put you well on the way to black out.
Also anytime you see Mia (the girl who tries to get Snape to cheat) you scream (Insert favorite word for female of promiscuously loose morals) and drink.
Anythime you hear the old rockstar dude's song.
There are more but that should be enough to make you either not remember the end of the movie or make you drunk enough to think the ending is cute and heart warming (which it is).
I have a group of college friends across the country who i don't get to see alot. We all watch it on the same night and skype/facetime each other during. This part is probably why I love it.
December 10th, 2015 at 12:00 PM ^
Its so funny! The aging rock star cracks me up every time.

I will probably watch the Home Alone movies as many chances as I can get during the holiday season. My personal favorite. I also like the Grinch with Jim Carrey.
December 10th, 2015 at 11:14 AM ^
Forcing my family to sit through The Muppet Christmas Carol is among my favorite holiday traditions.
