OSU goombas at 11W think Michigan is stopping B1G football purposely

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on August 20th, 2020 at 1:23 PM

What a bunch of fucking loons.

They’ve completely lost cabin pressure. Apparently it’s Schlissel and the MI governor who are threatening to sue the B1G.

Everything in their lives revolve around Michigan.

Hmmm.  Lets see.  Russian collusion vs QAnon.

Collusion: bipartisan report led by Republican basically says that Manafort colluded, Trump (best memory ever) couldn't remember the nature of his discussions with Stone, but because of a high requisite standard of proof couldn't make the ultimate leap of collusion.

Qanon: There is a cadre of cannibalistic Satanists who run the country, traffic in children for sex, and make pizza (and pornstar and Epstein lover Trump is the only thing preventing them from taking over the world).

Its close but I'm pretty sure I can pick the crazy...

Intersting take. In my younger years I was a Democrat and didnt pay nearly the attention that maybe I should have to the more conservative world. Interesting that they have become more conservative at the same time...I assumed conservatism was a relatively static beast. I am now an Independent because the Democratic Party I once knew and supported is gone. Things said by some members of the Democratic Party today are the same policies Republicans and Democrats lamented years ago regarding the former Soviet Union. I used to laugh at materials pushed by the American Socialist Labor Party and other extremists....thats what Democrats and Republicans did.  Now sadly rhetoric from some Democrats today hauntingly echoes that crap from long ago.

Conspiracy theories are for the easily manipulated and generally dumb populations of the world. All it takes is for them to read/watch one article/video with no real sources, studies or references and then they believe the earth is flat or that the government is implanting micro chips into their brain when they test for Covid. You don't think that there would have been a whistle blower by now like Snowden to reveal that the government (democrats) are making up Covid to control the masses? We used to think this idiocy was small population. The past four years have shown us that this group is very very large.

"Conspiracy theories are for the easily manipulated and generally dumb populations of the world."

I don't think this is completely true anymore.  I know a good number of otherwise very intelligent people who have bought into some of these crazy right-wing conspiracy theories.  There are more college educated people that think covid-19 is a "scamdemic" than you think.  It's pretty scary.

Experiments have revealed that feelings of anxiety make people think more conspiratorially. Such feelings, along with a sense of disenfranchisement, currently grip many Americans, according to surveys. In such situations, a conspiracy theory can provide comfort by identifying a convenient scapegoat and thereby making the world seem more straightforward and controllable. “People can assume that if these bad guys weren’t there, then everything would be fine,” Lewandowsky says. “Whereas if you don’t believe in a conspiracy theory, then you just have to say terrible things happen randomly.”

"a conspiracy theory can provide comfort by identifying a convenient scapegoat and thereby making the world seem more straightforward and controllable"

But here's the thing I don't understand about that, most conspiracy theories make things more complicated and go against Occam's Razor. Saying Covid is a deep state Democrat conspiracy to win the election is definitely not more "straight forward and controllable" than there is a dangerous virus that we all just need to take precautions against

It's more so assigning a reason and solution to a problem. Saying Covid is a deep state Dem. conspiracy assigns blame (to democrats) and a solution (get rid of the democratic party). The more difficult concept to grasp is that the virus mutated naturally through a series of congruent events that overtime adapted into what it is today and has spread through the human population like wildfire. No one is to blame and there are no immediate solutions other than to quarantine. But quarantining and wearing a mask is against our social freedoms (I guess...), so it's not a real solution. Therefore, let's make up a story about a bad guy who is doing this to us and how we can vanquish evil and uphold our freedoms. Literal fiction that people believe. In my mind, its similar to people who don't believe in evolution because they believe god created adam and eve. I guess we shouldn't be all that surprised at how many people are conspiracists...

But for a population that has been fed that their sworn mortal enemy is a Democrat, and the only encounter that someone has had with a virus is the seasonal flu, it seems to convince them that their source of information is true, trusted, and steady.

People don't want to believe the reality in front of them and/or they hate the idea of Occam's Razor. It's not that something happened for fairly mundane reasons. No, it must be because there is some global conspiracy. It's fantasizing which can be fun, but some of the QAnon folks are seriously disconnected from reality

Ah.  This explains so much.  On that "Tom Mars..." thread yesterday, an unpleasant Ohio State fan--even more unpleasant than most, I mean--posted this:  "Can we blame that **** Gretchen Whitmer yet seeing how she’s the one basically blocking the B1G from playing this year?" (vulgarity redacted)

I didn't want to ask him what he was talking about because it would have just meant interacting with an Ohio State fan and all that entails, but I thought it was just a weird thing to write.  What in the world would Governor Whitmer have to do with this?

But apparently this is the party line down south. Bizarre.

Haha haha an OSU buddy of mine sent me a text saying the same thing. Bunch of fucking losers.

You can hate on Harbaugh/UM all you want, but to say it’s Michigan stopping everyone from playing is asinine.

Harbaugh would strangle Schlissel if that were the case.

Plus the conference caters to OSU, not UM, so they wouldn’t listen to them anyways.

You know, pretty much everything about this year sucks but I am more than happy to take solace in the schadenfreude of these assclowns.

Like at this point, I am pretty sure that at least 75% of these chumps think the coronavirus was engineered to prevent Ohio State from winning a natty.  Even though there's already a 'C' word that does that.

That’s the kicker in this 11W post. Using misinformation by some dumb fuck on Twitter looking to gain followers and nothing else. Dude wasn’t right about a single thing he tweeted yet this dumb shit posts it like it’s coming from Schefter or Woj. Actual I think there was a dumb fuck on this site that posted the same garbage.

Ugh. Can't believe I clicked it.  All started by our favorite 12 year old "Sir Yacht," who is clearly just throwing chum into the water for those idiot, OSU pea-brains.  This kid is a complete twat and most certainly a Qanon believer, too.  The fact that anyone believes a random twitter account's "sources" is a reflection of everything wrong today in society.  End rant.

It’s all part of the simulation.....no really, if I was an OSU fan I would extra pissed the season was cancelled because their team was supposed to be very good and maybe win it all.

Now, they’ll end up losing a lot of good players.

I am telling you all, the script will flip.  Meyer is gone, let's see what Day does in a few years when Meyer's influence and recruits are diminished. The biggest discrepancy has been the QB position.

Neg me all you want, but Harbaugh will get us back on top of the big ten, even if it is taking longer than we all expected... and that bullcrap first down they gifted OSU did set us back several years in terms of recruiting.

But our time is coming.  I don't care how badly it looks now.  I know because it all correlates to my man cave.  We've sucked since I moved up here to Portland and have been watching the games in a shed.  But thanks to covid and all the time I've had to work on it, It's worthy of a big ten championship right now even as I write this.  But by the time we actually play next game I'll have the drywall and new floors in, so we'll be talking about making the playoff... that's right, bank it

You know what's funny?  I live ten minutes away from downtown and I drive through it everyday (been working mostly from home lately but still going in several times a week)

I learn about all the drama going on in downtown Portland from PBS newshour, BBC, Reuters, NYtimes, etc, which I read or watch avidly on a daily basis....I'm a news junky.......and if not for these national/ international sources I wouldn't realize all this drama is even happening

Dude, Portland is totally fine. Unrest happens in a 2-3 block radius from 12-3am and the rest of the time it’s business as usual (well, COVID usual that is).

Ive lived here since 2010. I would feel completely safe taking my wife and toddler downtown right now for a nice stroll, were it not for COVID.

There is also few places I would rather live in the US besides Portland. Beautiful, progressive city, amazing beer, wine, food etc. Beach 1.5 hours away, mountains 1 hour away. Pristine nature everywhere. Love it here!

Lay off the Fox News for a bit.

The video I've seen is horrible.  Some guy got out of his truck and went to the aid of a transwoman who had been beaten and robbed.  The mob turned on him, beat him and one of them kicked him in the head while he was down.

I read about it on the Washington Post website, not Fox News.

Horrific.

Did this not happen?

I have not seen that video. Care to link a source? I have lots of videos as well of Trump’s goons attacking peaceful medics, moms, vets, etc. It goes both ways, like most things in life.

Also, neither of us ever claimed that no crime is committed in the entire city. Where do you live? I’m sure I could find some bad actors there as well.

That doesn’t change the fact that the city is completely fine. No war zones, no revolutions, no anarchy. There are hundreds of peaceful protestors and a few bad actors. They congregate in a 2-3 block radius downtown, and after midnight they occasionally scuffle with police.

I stand by my original statements. I would take my family downtown any day of the week and not think twice. And I’d still rather live here than almost anywhere else.

Now do you want to continue claiming that you know what’s happening in my city better than I do?
