Sad if he goes, but happy for him. He was never going to jump to DC here.

This could be a win-win-win for Michigan, Ol Miss, and Chris if he proves himself there and comes back here to replace Brown in a couple years.

Yeah, what? My head is asplode at everything in your post. I wouldn’t be “happy for him”, (not that I don’t wish people the best, but happy? No part of me. Maybe I’m just a bad person.) I also wouldn’t categorically say he would never make the jump here, (Don Brown is no spring chicken, after all). ‘Ole’ Miss has an ‘e’ in it, and if he proved himself as a DC there, it’s highly doubtful he’d come back to Ann Arbor in the same capacity.

A “win-win-win.” Jesus Christ, it would be a major blow to a program that needs exactly what he offers.

I swear, the phony baloney altruistic white-knighting on this board sometimes...

The fact that other big time schools have come after him with either a co-DC job or in this case the presumed DC role should signal he can and probably should be the at least the co-DC here. The fact that he is not is mind-boggling. Also maybe meritocracy is does not apply to the coaching staff lol

I usually like your comments.

But what are yo8 talking about here. Greg Frey was fired from Florida St. The O Line was bad. Dan Enos was fired. What affect has Tim Drevno had at USC? Wasn't almost everyone relieved when Pep Hamilton left? I could go on, but isn't this enough?

Enos never actually coached here. Frey wasn’t the reason Florida state’s line sucked before he got there, it’s because jumbo fisher left a tire fire behind on his way to a&m payday. I will give you Hamilton and Drevno being mediocre to bad. If you are going to cherrypick your coaches do a better job.

Harbaugh has a solid track record bringing in position coaches.

I simply said they are being poached, nothing about success in the new job.  It's about JH's assistants being successful enough or respected enough to either get promoted or laterally move into another job elsewhere.

Here is a link to a 24/7 piece with facts.  There had been 13 leave as of a year ago when it was written:

Durkin, Baxter, G. Jackson, Fisch, Wheatley, Brian Smith, Kevin Tolbert, Frey, Enos, Drevno, McElwain, Mattison, Washington.  13 in 4 years seems like a lot to me (this is year 5 so we will see how many are added to the list).

I didn't make the list, the author did.  If you want to make a different point about subsequent success, fine, but the fact is the assistants are being poached at a high rate due to their perceived value. OK, make it 12 w/o Tolbert, it's still a large number.

Leaving on your own for an equal or better job is a "poach", such as Fisch who went from passing coord to OC.

Again, people like to shit on JH but his coaches are eminently employable and desired.

While I imagine this would be hard to pass up, Partridge is going to be walking into a shit show program with a immature coach and a conference where he has zero chance of ever winning. Hopefully we can pay to keep him

I’d hate to lose CP to anybody, but he’d be making a huge mistake in joining Kiffin and Ole Miss. That’s an inevitable train wreck.

I'd rather lose Brown if it meant we kept Partridge

What upside does Brown have when he's been pasted in the biggest games and he's going to retire soon anyway? Worst case scenario is that Partridge struggles as DC and we'll have to make a hire later that we'll probably have to make anyway. In that scenario at least recruiting won't drop off
