SP+ and PiRatings both put the projected line at Wisconsin -0.8 points, so I guess it's not that far off.  I didn't like Wisconsin's secondary vs MSU, so I think Purdue will definitely score.  However, Purdue gave up a lot of explosive plays to Nebraska and might not be able to get their defense off the field.

Yeah, entire B1G west is a shitshow, which has given Bert the ability to build Wisky 2.0 at Illinois.

The Illinois game terrifies me in that they are physical, and even if we win, we have to deal with that 1 week before the Game.  Ideally we get up big early with some chunk plays and put it away so we can rest the starters in the 4th.

But first, need to embarrass little brother. Expose them and their cliche machine coach as frauds.

I know that Purdue can be sporadic, but they’re underdogs to Wisconsin?  Really?

Syracuse/Clemson might be intriguing…although you get the sense this is one of those games that Clemson usually wins 38-37.

I kinda think both are overrated -- and the ACC in general is junk -- but Clemson is more overrated in the average college football fan's mind, whereas everyone knows Syracuse isn't great but they are 6-0 in P5 so we are obligated to rank them.

I really wish Clemson could get exposed but the ACC doesn't have a team that can do it.  They'll probably win this one 30-20 or so

Agreed. Iowa’s D won’t get paved. OSU will win easily but I don’t see them covering. Iowa will keep things in front of them and make OSU work for it, unlike most opponents. OSU put up just 21 on Notre Dame and haven’t played anything else resembling a defense. I think they sludge their way to an east victory

It will be a fun weekend to "just watch" other teams of interest.   And, I have a wedding to go to this Saturday - so, unfortunately, the DVR will be on double duty.

Wisconsin over Purdue?  I don't think so.  Yes, the game is in Madison, it will be a tougher test for Purdue, but - I wonder about how much Wisconsin really has this season.

Minny at Penn State.  White Out.  Both teams need a win.  How nicked up is Clifford?  It will be fun to see what happens, and, I have no horse in this race.

Syracuse at Clemson.  IF this game was at Syracuse, the result might be different.  But, it isn't.  I think the Orangemen cover the spread.

Northwestern at Maryland.  Will Taulia play?   I don't think it matters.  Unfortunately, the Wildcats don't have the depth, and the Terps both win, and cover.

UCLA at Oregon, in Eugene.  The crowd is going to make a difference.  Game Day will be there.  This is only the second road game this season for the Bruins (the first being at Colorado).  Another great game to watch.

I would add two other game of interest.

Mississippi State at Alabama.  The line is Bama by 21.  I like Mississippi State to cover.  And, wonder just "how much fun" Bama practices are going to be this week.

Texas at Oklahoma State.  Texas favored by 6.  I'd pick the Cowboys.

Enjoy...

6-19-1 ATS to be exact (I had been broadcasting that stat for awhile now) ......... however, they are also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 in that same spot (all those 5 games from November 2020 onward).

I would always advise my gambling friends of that PSU stat when they were in such a spot --- I don't anymore.  I feel that stat has become "too mainstream known" and the odds have adjusted for it.

Thoughts on Franklin/ direction of the program?

I'm guessing the locals are not too happy, but that extension seems to have handcuffed the program - did the admins really think that PSU can't recruit itself and a better gameday / developmental coach wasn't available?

MSU is a sad, desperate program that plays 1 game a year of signficance (their Super Bowl vs. UM), and everything else is gravy.  So their desperate 10 year $95mm contract for a .500 career coach / cliche machine at middling schools kind of makes sense for sharty.

But PSU locking into Frames made no sense to me.  PSU lucked into the B1G championship in 2016, despite being the 3rd best team in the division that year.  Frames plays OSU close, but really has no other top tier wins to point to except Saquon doing Saquon things.

Harbaugh was getting shit after 3 years despite knocking in the door multiple times with UM - surprised PSU fans aren't coming after Frames with the pitchforks and torches right now.

I don’t think Iowa will score all that much, but I also don’t think Iowa’s defense will yield anywhere close to OSUs passing average or receiving tds. The final score and whether OSU beats the spread will come down to day being willing enough to win more with the running game than trying to keep strouds Heisman campaign going strong.

I am really out on a limb here, but I am going to double down. Iowa's offense is bad. They don't even look like a good team apart from below Umich special teams. But OSU somehow always plays poorly about this time of the year. Under Day they haven't been losing this game, under Meyer they did many seasons. While i cringe to even think about how Iowa can win this, OSU has pretty bad special teams and Iowa can play defense. Not against this pass attack, but Iowa could scare them. I still think OSU is the best team in the nation and they have a very good defense to match a #1 offense. But they haven't played a good defense since ND, and that defense held them to 21. Iowa is...<,>,=ND? Probably better than. So that plus a few turnovers and Iowa could pull this off. OSU has had an easy schedule, much like all of us. At some point they have to play in a real game. Iowa wins (worst take ever). But why not?
