He is known as a top recruiter and a very good DL coach.

Michigan wanted him last year. He's a big-time recruiter. Huge loss for them.

I know they didn't love Rahne, but I've heard some mixed things about Kirk Ciarrocca. He loves the outside zone play-- and I'm not so sure they have the line to pull that off this year. It's a pretty big change from how they've blocked in the past. RPO stuff is the same, but no one is talking about his OZ philosophy. It only really took off when Minny had two monster WR threats...

They could be a regression candidate this year.

"Spencer has served as the Nittany Lions’ defensive line coach since 2014. He’s also the running-game coordinator and holds the title of associate head coach."

DL coach and running game coordinator?

I have never heard of a college coach having major responsibilities on both sides of the ball simultaneously.

I think they're starting to designate run / pass game coordinators for defense now, similarly to how they started doing it with offense 15 years or so ago.  I noticed this on someone else's bio recently but can't remember who it was.  Another way to give psuedo  promotions I suppose.

He's a great dude.... my better half went to college with him and they've stayed in touch.  I was hoping we were going to hire him away from PSU when matty left...

Great for him to get an NFL gig.   hope psu recruiting and Dline play suffer.
