Next Season- Stay or Go?
I realize generally when the Mgoblog community knows something, its usually posted here pretty quickly. However, since the departure of Harbaugh and various other assistants (and new hires to replace) we have not heard much in the form of transfers with the exception of the following
Keon Sabb (hopefully we can bring him back)
Amorion Walker
Reece Attebery
Noah Stewart
Matthew Hibner
Darrius Clemons
Jake Thaw
Cameron Calhoun
Joey Velazquez
Leon Franklin
CJ Stokes
Of those, Keon Sabb obviously hurts the worst. There was some grumblings early on that Kenneth Grant would be entering the portal but I haven't heard anything since.
My questions to the large community we have here is, have any of our "insiders" reported that the new players love our new coaching staff and that's why there hasn't been a mass exodus so far? I know Coach Moore's staff has not been in place very long at all, but I was hoping for some good news in this area.
Thanks guys and Go Blue!

If you go there will be trouble.

Si voy habrá problemas. Y si me quedo habrá doble. Entonces tienes que avisarme si me quedo o si me voy.
I love The Clash. Police On My Back, Spanish Bombs, and Lost in the Supermarket are my jams.
February 20th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
If you've not heard the original Police on my Back, I encourage you to do so! It's by the Equals, Eddy Grant's band before Electric Avenue times, way back in the 60s...
February 20th, 2024 at 12:40 PM ^
Thanks! I will do so!
February 19th, 2024 at 4:28 PM ^
And those who stay will be champions
February 19th, 2024 at 4:50 PM ^
Yeah, but those who left are Champions too! They're ALL Champions! Go Blue!
February 19th, 2024 at 4:09 PM ^
I don't think speculating on what players might leave, based on no information, is helpful.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:25 PM ^
Exactly right. The truthful answer is:
1. All of them might go, Each and every player could possibly leave.
2. All of them might stay. Not a one hits the portal
3. A combination of the above. Some leave and some stay.
Asking this question now, five days before the portal closes, is like asking "so, when do think you'll probably die?"
February 19th, 2024 at 4:40 PM ^
Exactly right. About the only thing to add would be the question, "In regards to NIL, have you done your part to help us keep those we want to keep?"
February 19th, 2024 at 4:43 PM ^
"so, when do think you'll probably die?"
The older I get, greater chance the answer is "sooner than later."
February 19th, 2024 at 5:40 PM ^
I always find it funny when a reporter says, “The announcement could come as soon as today.” or anything “as soon as today.” Because it certainly won’t be coming yesterday.
February 19th, 2024 at 8:12 PM ^
I wasn’t aware the purpose of the forum is to be “helpful.” I thought it was to discuss topics, like this one, that relate to Michigan sports.
February 19th, 2024 at 8:41 PM ^
It's always bad form to speculate on player departures
February 19th, 2024 at 9:09 PM ^
Pretty much all sports talk is speculation. There’s always discussion about which players might be coming to Michigan. There are threads every year about which players might leave for the NFL. It’s all speculation, and this thread isn’t any different.
February 20th, 2024 at 8:26 AM ^
Objection! Speculation!
February 20th, 2024 at 1:06 PM ^
Speculation about which players may declare for the NFL draft (which is based on a player’s production & potential and NFL draft mocks/projections) is a bit different than baseless speculation about whether a player might transfer considering there’s zero intel or reporting to go off
February 19th, 2024 at 4:10 PM ^
seeing as some of the players listed are actually enrolled elsewhere already, I think we can mark them as "gone"
Velasquez is at OSU
Cam Calhoun I believe is enrolled somewhere else as well as CJ Stokes, and Amorion Walker?
February 19th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
For sure those guys are gone. I meant more like our returning production guys. I believe quite a few on this board expected a mass exodus like Alabama/Washington when the Harbaugh left and quite a few assistants went with him. I just haven't heard much from insiders talking with the players in the program currently if they are pumped about the new staff..ect.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:19 PM ^
you're right, my bad......I misread the post. My apologies
February 19th, 2024 at 4:11 PM ^
"grumblings" as in "random shitposting on twixter about NIL luring starters away"
Pay no heed
February 19th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
I realize generally when the Mgoblog community knows something, its usually posted here pretty quickly.
And yet you created this OP. Are tou looking to stir up rumors?
February 19th, 2024 at 4:14 PM ^
Rumors, no...some people in this blog do know more than others. Was just asking a question to shed some light and maybe hear some positive news.
February 19th, 2024 at 6:11 PM ^
Geez. Ask a fair question on a Monday and you would think that this is Philadelphia around here.
Tough crowd today on the MGoBoard, isn't it?!
February 19th, 2024 at 6:26 PM ^
Happy to see that Shea Patterson negged me---again.
Thanks, Misery King!

Just upvote yourself, Rob. Zero-sum game :)

XM staying
February 19th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
With internet now available to you, maybe the email with the NIL offers might now reach you. You might want to identify as likely.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:41 PM ^
Can you be my agent? Obviously any MSU NIL deal is out, but maybe some others will come in….
meanwhile, what do I do with all these messenger pigeons?
February 19th, 2024 at 5:19 PM ^
I hear Mike Tyson likes pigeons, maybe you can barter with him.
February 19th, 2024 at 6:20 PM ^
He’s a little volatile, to put it mildly. I’d be afraid he’d do an ozzy Osborn and bite their heads off.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:34 PM ^
This is bigger news than people recognize.
Now that you're no longer using AOL dial-up internet, hopefully, we can expect you to be more active on the board!
Though if I'm being honest, I kinda do miss the AOL log on sound and process to get online. Made you appreciate when you actually got connected.
February 19th, 2024 at 6:14 PM ^
Don't say you didn't ask for it...
February 19th, 2024 at 4:26 PM ^
I can't imagine we're going to hear any rumblings until the springtime portal gets closer. With the timing of the NCG game and Harbaugh's departure most of these guys were already a few weeks into the winter semester classes. No one wants to throw away that classwork towards completing another semester when other schools were similarly well into theirs.
We'll probably lose some, but no point in losing sleep over it now.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
This! Michigan players actually do come to Ann Arbor to play both football and school.
February 19th, 2024 at 5:02 PM ^
And Michigan has made it a point to make sure those who transfer usually have some sort of degree in hand.
We usually see a batch right after spring ball, like the above poster mentioned. I'm assuming it's kids who find themselves in a bad spot on the depth chart and are hoping for a new start somewhere else. I've always assumed the parting is somewhat mutual when that happens.
February 19th, 2024 at 8:24 PM ^

People keep saying similar things, but you have to realize that they can enter the portal and remain in school at Michigan. They can commit to a new school and still finish the semester at Michigan and enroll at their new school in the summer.
Entering the portal doesn’t mean you’re dropping out and committing to a new school doesn’t mean you’re immediately enrolling.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:32 PM ^
I did not hear any grumblings re: Grant leaving. Just that a lot of teams would, or were, offering them a lot of money to leave.
Sabb is a loss for sure, but with what we have built here the past few years we are bound to lose guys like him who want more playing time.
I think the fact that we have not lost any major / potential contributors outside of Sabb has been amazing news. Not sure what better news you'd hoped for.
February 19th, 2024 at 5:04 PM ^
Sabb hurts. He was going to be an important bit of the secondary this fall no doubt. Also can't blame the man for going somewhere else. He's starter material anywhere but here.
Edit: no idea where backfield came from in place of secondary. This isn't 1920, there are rules.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:49 PM ^
since it's a slow day i'm going to use this thread to post random thoughts in my head.
I'd love it if we got a return of Alex's non-revenue-sports recap this year. I can google, but it's more fun to hear someone more plugged into the scene tell me how i should feel on all things not-football.
President's Day is probably the most replaceable holiday on the calendar. We should instead get a day off in April. Maybe for president's. Maybe for Appomatox. Maybe for easter, or earth day. Make up a reason.
Martin Van Buren is the only president to speak english as a second language. he spoke dutch first.
February 19th, 2024 at 4:57 PM ^
All members of the Van Buren Boys get the eighth day of August off.
February 19th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
Honestly, this response is of higher quality than the OP.
February 19th, 2024 at 7:11 PM ^
I figured it was something either very intelligent or a deep cut reference because I don’t get it.
February 19th, 2024 at 9:36 PM ^
It's from Seinfeld, it's a really funny episode! Van Buren boys.
February 19th, 2024 at 7:54 PM ^
A number of Ohio colleges float this one to use on Boxing Day.

Lately, all the Michigan "insiders" have a better chance of finding Bigfoot doing the cha-cha in a UFO than providing reliable information! So, the lack of information is a welcomed or unwelcomed silence depending on how you look at it.
