Next up at OC??? Weiss, Hart or an outsider?
Alright, next up. One could make the argument this had something to do with rumblings that Gattis wouldn’t be the pick if Harbaugh left and we hired internally. If that’s the case and this is an internal hire, is it safe to say the next OC is the head coach in waiting? What are the thoughts here? Some are saying Weiss. Some say Mike Hart. Do you look at Nick Sheridan at Indiana? Perhaps an outsider? What’s your vote?
February 6th, 2022 at 11:07 AM ^
Nick Sheridan is NOT in Indiana.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:08 AM ^
An outsider name that should get some serious consideration is Andy Ludwig from Utah; guy with a very good track record in two P5 conferences.
Can we please not promote Weiss. The guy has 0 experience with the majority of responsibilities that OCs have. If you want to have Hart and Sherrone Moore Co-OC, that would be more than fine.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
What experience does Hart have?
February 6th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
Wasn't Mike Hart the running game coordinator this past year? He's also previously been an "associate head coach" which had to entail some amount of greater responsibility than just coaching the RB room.
And of course Sherrone Moore was the Co-OC this past year and so he has a full year's worth of game plan preparation and potentially some play calling under his belt.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:13 AM ^
Moore or Weiss.

Sam hinting more might be leaving?
February 6th, 2022 at 11:29 AM ^
Harbaugh fucked up the messaging by leaving a bunch of guys twisting in the wind. This is what you get, anyone who thinks what harbaugh did wasn’t going to have consequences was lying to themselves. It’s up to him to prove he was worth waiting on.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:38 AM ^
My God, man. You have no freaking clue what Harbaugh was communicating to his staff. Just stop with this crap.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Agree with you but do you even mgoblog?
Literally 99% of this board knows nothing but yet loses their mind thinking they know exactly whats happening....
I'm always amazed how emotional these posters are over a bunch of sports....
February 6th, 2022 at 11:29 AM ^
Bellamy to WR?
February 6th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
Angelique Chengelis hinting at Mike Hart possibly going to the NFL...
February 6th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Please , do what is necessary to keep Hart.
February 6th, 2022 at 3:50 PM ^
She said the NFL might be interested in him. Unless you've seen something I haven't there's no indication that he's actively looking around
February 6th, 2022 at 11:15 AM ^
Matt Weiss OC moore co-oc. Hart gets bumped to run offense coordinator and AHC title. And go grab Thomas Wilcher from state now.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:23 AM ^
Do they really need Wilcher at this point?
February 6th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
I would like this simply to end the Sparty pipeline there.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
If Wilcher is hired, Michigan would not be able to sign players from Cass Tech in the 2023 recruiting cycle per NCAA rules.
February 6th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
That's only true if Wilcher is hired to an off-field role.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:15 AM ^

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha
February 6th, 2022 at 4:52 PM ^
I think it's Marcia, but, what the hell...
February 6th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
I know this is a joke, but I’d love Dan Mullen for OC. He can build an offense extremely well.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:22 AM ^
You forgot Jaybaugh
February 6th, 2022 at 12:48 PM ^
Ricky, you're alive! Haven't seen you post in forever and was worried something bad had happened.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:16 AM ^
FWIW Sam Webb (and this is on twitter, not paywalled so I'm not posting insider stuff) says it "would be a surprise" if it's not Weiss.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:22 AM ^
Also hinted he’s not the only one leaving.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:33 AM ^
I've seen a few fringe snippets that Helow could be one of the moves. In addition, I wonder if the Gattis news means Bellamy moves to WR.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:36 AM ^
I'll guess it's Helow to the Ravens.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:05 PM ^
Who says goodbye? I say Helow.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
Sam already put it out there, so take this for what it’s worth but I’ve heard Weiss will be promoted. Hart, straight from his own mouth, doesn’t mind that Weiss is being promoted and would be happy for him. People saying Hart would leave over this are crazy. Hart is already the associate/assistant head coach. Moore/Weiss will be co-coordinators with Weiss doing most of the play calling. Hart says Weiss had a lot more to do with game planning than people realize.
Ron would be moved to WR coach and the new defensive coordinator will be able to hire at least one of his own guys to essentially replace Ron and possibly a second one depending on what happens with another current defensive coach.
My personal opinion about Sam saying this is ONE of the moves that is happening is just him selling subscriptions. Which I have no problem with. This is a very slow time for them now that signing day is over. There of course has to be a few moves now to replace the OC and DC. But the way this is worded sounds like there is about to be a mass exodus which just isn’t the case. Michigan obviously needs an OC and DC but they probably already have OC on staff. Which means they also would need a WR coach but they probably already have that on staff. Which means they need a DC and defensive coach. Possibly could lose a defensive coach so they’d need a DC and two defensive coaches. Which is good for a DC because they like to bring at least a few of their own guys.
So yeah there will be a little shuffling and some hiring but that makes it seem like some mass exodus. Again it’s a way to sell subscriptions which is perfectly fine. But people here are now acting crazy over this.

Thank you sir. This is why we continue to scroll through so many eye rolling posts. To hopefully get to something substantial.
February 6th, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
This makes a lot of sense. I hope it shakes out that way.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:18 AM ^
The GOAT. Wouldn't even have to recruit, the kids will kick in the door, and he can coordinate remotely from Giselle's place in Brazil.
February 6th, 2022 at 1:01 PM ^
Something tells me his life is a bit too big for Ann Arbor, MI, and making recruiting house visits to Ohio families. There's a whole new generation of supermodels to knock up.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:19 AM ^
Can we please get off of the “ties to Michigan” theme. Nothing about Nick Sheridan’s offense last season screams “next in line to be Michigan’s OC” See if Joe Brady wants to upgrade from and NFL position coach to be a top college OC.
Also pretty sure this means Bellamy will be coaching WR’s next season.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:19 AM ^
Weiss, Weiss, baby.
Seems like he has NFL OC desires. Kick ass at Michigan and open some doors.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:07 PM ^
Oh the irony that he’s wearing a Miami sweater in the gif.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:22 AM ^
Matt Weiss doesn't even want to be in college. I wouldn't make him the OC because he is out the moment an NFL job opens for him. Michigan better be careful that they don't lose Sherrone Moore.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:28 PM ^
Says who ? He is tied to Harbaugh and will go where he goes. Don't extrapolate here.
I will say when Harbaugh leaves in two to three years to coach the Lions, Weiss will be with him, or be a college HC somewhere.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Harbaugh will take over Arizona next year after Kingsbury is fired.

Who cares about 2023, tbh. Promote whoever gives M best chance to beat OSU in 2022 then worth about 2023… in 2023. The days of continuity concerning to rosters and coaches are long gone. Prepare the analytics and money cannons!
February 6th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
My uninformed internet guy guess:
Co-OCs: Weiss and Moore
QB: Harbaugh
WR: Bellamy
Hire new DC/Safeties/LB.
February 6th, 2022 at 12:10 PM ^
That’s the plan and give Moore a nice raise to keep people off of him.
February 6th, 2022 at 1:06 PM ^
George Helow is gone?
LBs were great under him this past season. He is being replaced?
February 6th, 2022 at 6:39 PM ^
LB’s were great??? Hmm, weakest part of our D this past year. Now, a lot of that was both talent and experience based for sure. Helow did well with what he had. We’ll have to wait and see if he goes….
February 6th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
Any chance that he is jumping ship knowing Harbaugh will be leaving ? Hasn't signed contract yet ad Minnesota job still open. Absent of that, this makes little sense. Unless Gattis wants full autonomy and has been sharing with Moore/Weiss/Harbaugh.
February 6th, 2022 at 11:40 AM ^
Its either "look at how terrible Gattis is when the offense looks bad" or "look at the influence of Weiss/Harbaugh" when the offense is humming. For his career aspirations, he may feel he stil has to show he is the true architect of the offense.
