Next up at OC??? Weiss, Hart or an outsider?

Alright, next up. One could make the argument this had something to do with rumblings that Gattis wouldn’t be the pick if Harbaugh left and we hired internally. If that’s the case and this is an internal hire, is it safe to say the next OC is the head coach in waiting?  What are the thoughts here?  Some are saying Weiss. Some say Mike Hart. Do you look at Nick Sheridan at Indiana? Perhaps an outsider? What’s your vote?

I'd like to get an RPO guy. It is strange that we still run the ball 70 percent of the time. I thought speed in space would involve a lot more passing then we have seen over the last 3 seasons. I think if we went more to a passing game against GA it would have been a different game, it would be different game if Harbaugh would have started JJ. I'm not sure if Hart is ready to be an OC. I would look outside for a good RPO OC. I wonder if we could get the U of Cincy OC?

Are we talking about the wrong Weiss? Why not get the guy who would give us a "decided schematic advantage?"

Haha- I can't even pull off the deadpan delivery on a keyboard.

I think the AD and Harbaugh, if they haven't reached out already, needs to ensure the rest of the staff feels wanted... I think guys like Moore, Helow and Clnk in particular, as they are not Michigan grads...but also Hart and Bellomy.

I mean we'll see with Weis - he's a guy that a lot of people seem to be impressed with, so if he is tabbed as the new passing game OC with Moore continuing as the run game OC that seems like some good continuity...

Just new to figure out the DC

Matt Weiss is ready. He's already run both passing games and running games. And everything he has coached has shown marked improvement. I'm happy about the possibility of him at OC!

I don't know how the staff shakes out. I do know Mike Hart should be called the assistant head coach and IMO should be the head coach in waiting for whenever Jim retires.

I know Joe Brady was just hired by the Buffalo Bills as their QB coach, but I would really like to see what he could do with JJ McCarthy and an actual passing game.

JH has done well the last two years with replacing assistants.  So, I am going to defer to him and wait and see.

What about the OC that was fired from Nebraska this year? His offense was pretty creative as I remember. Frost cleaned house, but I felt that was more about placing blame elsewhere.

At this point I’m really hoping they promote from within and then hire a couple of good up and coming assistants.  Let’s turn all this negative BS around.

I’d say that JH taught and developed Gattis over the past 3 years (which is exactly what Gattis has said previously) and now has a chance to be an OC without any co-OC’s and likely significantly more $’s.

If hiring internally, Matt Weiss is the favorite.  They might also need to give Sherrone Moore co-OC duties to keep him at M.

But we've seen Harbaugh make surprising hires before.  Among external options, I really like OC Sean Gleeson of Rutgers.  He's a lesser known name, but has also coached at Okla St. and maximizes offensive talent at Rutgers.

I would have no problem with Hart stepping into the position if he thinks he is ready and wants it.  It would be a huge step for him but he has been around enough to know how to do the job for sure.  I too would rather see someone within get the nod so things don't change too drastically for the players.

Weiss / Hart combo would be fine too for the role.

It sort of seems like an internal hire for OC and an outside hire for DC. Just seems like between Harbaugh and the minds on the current staff they have enough to promote from within and hire some good up and comers as position coaches.

On defense I'm not sure that is the case. Don't get me wrong, tons of young coaching talent but it "feels" like they need a head hancho really running the entire defense which is quite doable even if Clink has the "co" in his name (which is well deserved).
