Music City/Orange Bowl Open Thread

The earlier thread had the Penn State game but we need a thread for the Music City Bowl and Orange Bowl. Auburn is getting destroyed and that is the team that was pushing Alabama around.

I've never been there, but by appearance the renovation of Hard Rock Stadium is one of the best stadium rehabilitations I've ever seen. The roof, some of the new premium sections, all of it. Using European influence to great effect. Really seems like the way it always should have been.

I don't feel bad for that program at all.

If they wanted to make a statement they would have dressed to impress.

But they decided to fold and now they more than likely lose by 40+ after all the bitching and crying they did after getting snubbed.

No excuses.

As a fan, I'm not interested in any team where the star players don't play because they're scared of getting injured.  So screw Florida State, screw Penn State, screw Ohio State, screw all of college football. But the turning point for Michigan was when players such as Ross and Hutchinson came back even after they could have turned pro.  That's what we fans like!

We are still kind of Georgia-lite.  Play the game 100 times and they beat us 80 times.

Alabama is more of an asymmetrical game for us.  They look different than us.  There is a lot more variability, especially with Milroe.

Granted, Milroe may run wild on us, but there is also the chance that he goes full Taulia mistake-fest after 4 weeks off.

We'll take our chances.

Basically, FSU's top players all opted out.  So Georgia's proving it can demolish FSU's third stringers.  What a meaningless game.  It's unfortunate FSU isn't playing at full strength and giving Georgia a fight.  Unfortunately, the playoff committee and SEC will wrongly point at this game and say they were right to put an undeserving Bama team in the playoff over FSU.  Of course, you can look at any of these meaningless bowl games and come to ridiculous conclusions.  Just look at Maryland's demolition of Auburn, a team that had essentially beaten Bama very recently.

I would have thought that nearly all of the FSU starters would have opted to play this game and prove that they deserved to be in the CFP semi. Now after seeing them being blown out before halftime, that argument is settled.

As for the Terps, they beat a mediocre Auburn team. It still is a good win because it was over an SEC team.

Agree. I was hoping FSU was going to have some more pride, more heart and tried to prove they really did deserve a shot at the playoffs (which I think they did). Instead, they quit; they're getting embarrassed; they're letting the committee off the hook, proving them right.

I, and I think most, would've accepted even a close, respectable loss to UGA as further proof they got robbed. Maybe the committee was right; if this is indicative of the heart they would've shown in the playoffs, maybe it's for the best they were left out.

I can't imagine the disappointment of those players going perfect and being denied a playoff spot.  It is easy to sit behind a keyboard and say play for pride!! but imagine you do everything asked and are told fuck off.  If you win today you are still 5th place.

There is a mental part to this as well... as in "what's the point".  You are talking about 19-20 year olds largely.
