MSU TE Matt Dotson Out with Torn Achilles

Fourth on the team in receiving yards and receptions. Not a major weapon, but MSU is starting to run out of warm bodies. If Stewart also misses this game, they will be incredibly one-dimensional.

I feel just the opposite....Based on what the players and coaches are saying, Michigan is taking MSU very seriously regardless of who is or is not playing. MSU might move the ball a little early, then the hammer comes down.  I don't see them scoring more than a couple field goals against the first D.  My biggest concern is MSU stacks box and dares Michigan to pass and Harbaugh does not take them up on it. I think Patterson could throw 2 pick sixes and Michigan still wins by double digits.

Obviously the players and coaches need to take it seriously, be prepared, etc. But I'm expecting Michigan to smash them. For one thing, PSU, Wisconsin, and OSU did the same. And it really seems thinks have just spiraled further down from there. I wouldn't be surprised if there's not a lot of dirty play actually and it's just a sad thorough beating where State just looks like they want to go home ASAP.

Eh. I almost feel like some of these are addition by subtraction. Their offense seemed fine without Stewart (he leads the country in drops) and Dotson has dropped a ton of balls too. They have a walk on that they appear to like more anyway.

Terrible injury, wouldn’t wish it on anyone. MSU or not, hope he’s able to rehab and suit up again next year

They are getting Josiah Scott back which is good for them. He’s their best corner by far. Still think we need to challenge their secondary. Unless it’s completely not necessary. I’d be very happy with a game like ND where we didn’t have to throw, but I don’t see that.

We’ll here about the team that rushes the ball for most yards usually wins this game.  I’m sure both teams will establish the rub early.  And I agree it will be nice if Michigan doesn’t have to throw the ball 40 times in this game.  Play some good old fashioned Big Ten football

It is necessary to challenge their secondary even if our run game is working.

no room for conservative ball control game plan .... throw to open the run; get up early and keep on the gas.

last year was a blow-out on paper only as the 94 yards were the dagger.... but 7-7 in the third was due to conservative play calling.

Is this the guy who hopped off the field while the trainers followed behind, then called over a cart to take him to the locker room? Torn Achilles and they didn't get a cart on the field to take him in?

Huh.

I posted this in another thread.  Between this and Lewerke, MSU's medical and football staff are atrocious.

Let's talk about another player for MSU in that game.  Their TE Dotson was injured, eventually he's carted off the field.  This is what happened:

1) Dotson runs a route and falls down on his own, writhing in agony.  Almost anyone who watches football knows the old adage that a non-contact injury is the worst type of injury.  I watched the replay and immediately said he's done.

2) Medical staff comes out, and since it's right near the sideline and midfield, Dantonio's right there and figures "what the hell, I'll wander out there and stare at him too."

3) Dotson gets up, on his own.  Putting no pressure at all on the injured leg.  Then he hops to the sideline on his good leg.  What in the fuck?  No one helps him; you know, one guy on each side and walk a limping man off the field.  He fucking hops to the sideline.  They keep showing him on camera and the mother fucker keeps hopping.

4) Several minutes later they show him being taken off in a cart.  Hey, someone on the MSU sideline figured out he had a serious injury.  "This kid's been hopping all over the sideline here, but he probably shouldn't do that anymore.  Is my professional medical advice.  (someone in the distance yells for cart, perhaps Dotson himself)  Yes.  Good idea.  Let's get a cart out here."

I literally could have done a better job providing care for this player if they had called my cell phone.
