MSU at Iowa game postponed due to COVID

Sounds like a few positive cases on the MSU side. I was really looking forward to this game. Could've enjoyed a MSU loss or Michigan getting a bigger lead in the conference.

We totally ducked osu and it was the most impressive football non-loss on the schedule.  They've got nothing to crow about with no national championship or win over us. They looked like children playing against grown ass men at Alabama and got their asses handed to them just like they get everything else handed to them.  It was great.

As for impressive football non-loss, while it spared the loins in the short term, avoiding a beatdown is probably a significant factor in Harbaugh being extended.  If you're of the mind that he needed to go and that keeping him around only delays the inevitable, it might have been better to get smacked around so Warde wouldn't be able to ignore the pressure to end it.

The best part of msu sucking is that you can watch their games and it’s a win win. If they win they help our big ten chances and if they lose they lose! Basketball is amazing!!

I haven’t seen any actual MSU games yet this year. Serious question-are they as bad as their record indicates and what happened to them?

mentioned this before in a similar discussion, but unfortunately i believe news of sparty's demise is exaggerated.  they may not be elite, but they seem to be getting it together and will be a tough out for anyone.  izzo is going to have to earn his money this year, but don't' write him off just yet.

and #12 is a very good team in general, even if it's not perfect.  if we were told before the year that we would finish at #12 in some relevant national ranking we would've been pretty pleased - obviously expectations have been heightened since then for great reasons.

Agreed Xtramelanin. Would love to see MSU miss the tournament but I just don’t see it happening. They will somehow scrape up enough wins to make it. They will be very tough when the play Michigan and it would not surprise me to see them upset Michigan. Although that Purdue loss was one the worst bed shittings they have had in awhile.

I feel like we have laughed at Izzo a few times in the last few years only for State to get tough late and finish with a decent Big10 tourney finish and subsequent good though not stellar tournament play.

Say what you want about Izzo. He's a cry baby and seems to chuck his players under the bus on the regular, but he gets wins down the stretch and does a pretty good job of coaching up his team as the season goes on.

I hate him, but he's not a bad coach.

 what happened to them?

They were heavily reliant on two players (Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman) who are now gone.  Aaron Henry was a good third option last year and is back, but he's not comfortable as the go-to guy.

They've brought in some good recruiting classes on paper, but it doesn't show - a lot of their guys have not panned out.

Gonna be interesting to see how many, if any, postponed games are going to be made up. Unlike the football season, where only about five games per year matter, every big ten basketball game counts and can be anyone's game

I know they built in some time to make up games, but Penn State has already missed 4, Nebraska 3, and MSU 1. No way those are all going to get played.

We're in a very privileged position to say, who gives a fuck about eligibility, I wanna win the conference. I can see Michigan getting screwed over by having to play all four of our games against the top three in the conference but Iowa somehow misses everyone except us. The big ten set up both football and basketball to operate on the honor system, and I think that's a really poor way to do it given how crooked college sports is in general

Izzo's statement from earlier today didn't make sense to me. They knew about positives but continued practicing anyway??

Asked for some clarification on the positive COVID results within the MSU program, Izzo says the tests were conducted 4 days ago and that the program's daily testing procedures allow it to avoid a complete shutdown.

Their positive cases were Izzo’s son and Sissoko, who are roommates and the article I read said they had been quarantined and nobody else was positive. Duck duck...duck
