I can't relate to his extreme fandom, but he seems to have at least a halfway-pleasant personality. Nice enough guy ...

On (side) topic: I've known several high-functioning people with significant depression problems (enough to make be believe it's a prerequisite for success in certain fields).

Bec.ause somebody created a parody WD account and then created a parody WD apparel thread which got about 150+ responses before it was pulled down.  WD felt bullied and was upset the mods didnt react quicker to the thread.

Right or wrong that's why he's gone with the exception of posting threads on non-revenue sports.  Still not quite sure what resolution (if any) he's looking for but long story short he's unhappy with the mods lack of action.

Not offended at all.

You're right, I don't participate in many. Probably about 5.

But I've seen plenty, and I'm quite aware that there are many forums less civil than this one.

I'm equally aware that there are very many forums that are far more civil, polite, understanding, and tolerant than MGoBlog. As a Michigan board, we should be among the leaders and best in this category, too, in my opinion.

Seriously, the vast majority of the posters here are Michigan fans.  There are few trolls, so the disagreement stems from individual viewpoints.  Read ANY MLive comment section if you want to find the end of civilization.

Noon games kill my entire day. Getting up that early forces me to take a nap after the game and by the time I wake up the day isn't over. That being said, I would go to a UofM football game at 7am if that's when it was. Schedule the game and I'll be there, or at least watching on tv.

The noon slate usually sucks, so having a good matchup at noon makes college football better as a whole. Michigan-Ohio State being at noon will make that day much better.

Plus suck it up lmao, you can literally wake up at 11:55.

So, of the 6 home games, 3 are already announced for noon kickoffs. Are you happy WD?

Only reason I like 3:30 is it gives me more time in Ann Arbor with friends and family. Noon gives a little less time for that.

Actually, I've always preferred noon games. Get up early. A nice breakfast tailgate. A nice crisp fall game while the sun is still high. And then get home to watch the late afternoon and prime time games after a big Michigan victory. With 3:30 games you miss most of the early games; you can't watch the other big games in late afternoon; and you get home well after the night games have started. For a college FB junkie like me, that sucks.

EXACTLY.

For those of us out of town a noon start means we have to catch a flight the night before or wake up at the butt crack of dawn for the drive.

Noon is tradition, I get it.  3:30 is more alumni friendly.

is not as though everybody knew he was having those struggles.  It is a blog, the only way people can tell that you might be having some issues is if you come out and say it.

People on here don't actually dislike WD, it was tongue-in-cheek and I think most people just assumed he took it that way.  If not, our collective bad, but he seemed to be "in on the joke" to me.

The internet is entirely the wrong place to be if struggling with depression. It's a mood disorder i mean. Twitter can be basically just a modern diary that is shared so that might not be a "major change," but message boards and comment sections have to go. Basically any dialogue that invites hater trolls or even light ribbing

The way to deal with it is to tell people in your LIFE who might actually care enough to be respectful of your struggle. That isn't to be found on a damn blog

OTOH i don't know how much sympathy to have for someone who once used his twitter to behave as a complete monster and then mocked others on this very blog for "getting upset at what someone said on the internet"
