When OSU kicked the ever loving shit out of us two years straight. They were the better team. That’s not so hard to say, unless your a buckeye player.

The pathetic meter has really shifted in the past 3 weeks and is now pointing on Columbus. That loss was really damaging. Beat the buckeyes next season and you might completely demoralize their fan base. I love being on top!

The Big 10 or better yet CDC should investigate why a football team exhibiting strange flu like symptoms was allowed to travel and compete out of state. Ryan Day needs to provide some answers on why they would risk spreading disease in the midst of a global pandemic. Seems irresponsible if you ask me.

They really believe it is their birthright to win The Game. Reality can be such a cruel bitch sometimes. I have refrained from rubbing it in or talking any shit. The one instance where I engaged an OSU fan, I just asked him, “did anything about that game look flukey or not capable of being repeated?” He had no answer, something about the last 10 years. I hope they keep this up, pretending they are physical.

They can say whatever they want to now.

Weather, injuries, illness from flu, are faced by all college football teams every year, especially in November.

Had Ohio State won in Ann Arbor, then they would have certainly chided Michigan players and fans for any similar such excuse-making.

What do you expect? It does not matter.

Michigan defeated Ohio State decisively 42-27, won the Big Ten Title outright 42-3 vs. Iowa, is now preparing to play Georgia in the CFP. Michigan is also showing good momentum on the recruiting trail.

FWIW Michigan tailback Blake Corum was not 100% either for The Game, which Ohio State directly benefit from most of the afternoon.  Yeah, they got heaping helping of Hassan Haskins and a couple doses of Corum. But a healthy Corum would not have made their afternoon vs. Michigan any easier.

Hope the flu doesn't come back and get them before the Rose Bowl too! That would just be awful luck for such a physical team. Hard to ball out when the damn flu saps all your energy... Just ask MJ.

this is probably viewed as a homer take, but who cares. im home!

When I saw CJ Stroud start the season and struggle against minnesota (at times) and agianst oregon as well (big game) at home - i thought we had a chance. He is NOT the same QB that we've become accustomed to seeing with steel nerves and delivering ridiculous passes above their pay grade. He scored lots of points and put up great numbers. So does Matthew Stafford. I saw weakness and a kid unsure. It was echoed when we were up 2 TDs and they scored a late touchdown (i htink rushing) and he flexed.. again, kinda sheepishly.

What i'm saying is... his whining fits everything I've seen so far.. including a big FAT L.

He’s laying the ground work for “We don’t come to play non-CFP Bowl” when Utah wins the Rose Bowl with 1 to 3 of OSU’s NFL bound receivers opting out.

I hope that Michigan uses these excuses as extra fuel for next year's game in Columbus. I also hope Harbaugh and the coaches use the same approach they did this past year, where they focus on how to beat OSU all year, starting in January. The new approach obviously paid off well.

I'm sure some of their players were sick; the flu is no joke and it knocked out MSU as well.  I'm sure it didn't help them.  But OSU absolutely is coming across as a program that can't handle even a hint of adversity.  Like, it probably didn't help that UM was down to their 3rd-string QB in 2017, or that they got a ton of calls go against them in 2016, or any other number of reasons why they've lost games against the Buckeyes.  But OSU got a fair bit of luck in their game against UM (a number of fumbles went their way, those crazy catches by their WRs, etc.) and yet they lost by 15.  It happens.  But just take your fucking loss and stop trying to justify why you didn't beat a good team on the road for once.

Urban Meyer is a lot of things but he absolutely wouldn't have allowed his start QB make these types of comments weeks after a loss, and is another point in the "Ryan Day isn't as good of a coach" side of the ledger.

I saw absolutely no indication in their gameday 2-deep that they had the flu.  Those were all starters out there.

So, which is it:

  1. The flu thing is a bullshit excuse, or
  2. They were sick and played anyway, putting Michigan players at risk.

I don't find either scenario acceptable.  Not sure why they think the flu story makes for good PR.

yeah that's where their excuses ring hollow. "The weather"? Fuck man, you had 3 fumbles and recovered all of them! You actually were +1 in turnovers! Your all-NFL receivers were making circus catches anyway! FOH with that excuse. The weather doesn't explain how michigan put up 300 yards rushing on you and barely even passed in the entire second half.

"The flu"? Come on man. MSU was down 20 players due to the flu, and they won anyway. Tough teams don't use the flu as an excuse.  Obviously the flu wasn't that bad if you were still playing in the game.

"His voice was hoarse" - well that's fucking dumb, you're on the road in a hostile environment, why are you relying on your voice anyway???

They are some of the whiniest sore losers I've ever seen. Please, keep making excuses Buckeyes. Michigan will see you in Columbus next year.

Regardless of what he says, the best part is that they constantly have to field questions about it.  Just increases the pressure.

If they lose the Rose Bowl (please let it happen), the cooler poopers will erupt into a rabid frenzy.

So they obviously would have gone undefeated if not for the flu or something hitting the whole team against Oregon and us - man up asshole and admit you were not good that day against either team.

BTW, if Cade didn't have an eyelash in his eye, which caused him to thro that pic in the 1Q, then the score would have been 49-27 ya fucking mouth breathers.

Not to make excuses, or anything, but Michigan played way better than Ohio State did throughout the entire game. That's pretty much why Michigan won.

Carcajou

December 8th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^

That's true.
I think it was Gerdeman or some other Ohio State pundits were saying, "Michigan played its best game and Ohio State played its worst" and there is a fair amount of debatable truth in that. But the opposite has been true far too often in the last 10 to 20 years, and I think Michigan players and coaching staff this year had a lot to do with that. 11/27 was no fluke.

Grit McGritterson

I happen to agree with him. It can be very hard to play football if you’ve got the flu and I’m sure they were worried about spreading it to other teams.

Their linebackers are the real heroes, because you could see they were trying to keep at least 6 feet away from Hassan every play.

Doesn't he know that these excuses just make our victory even sweeter?

Thank you, CJ.  Your pathetic excuses add to my joy and make me even more confident that what happened this year is very repeatable.

Saw a few Buckeye fans say the weather gave us a big advantage. Can someone explain that? Does it not get cold in Columbus? Does it not snow there (it barely snowed in Ann Arbor that day)? Is Columbus now just north of the equator?

Carcajou

December 8th, 2021 at 8:06 PM ^

It's easier to run the ball than throw in cold weather and they're a better passing team and we're a better running team, yeah. That's why around here folks were happy about the snow in the forecast and when it arrived ahead of schedule.

But the Ohio State short passing game was fine, Stroud was mostly on target, and there were few drops and some great catches by their receivers. They dropped three fumbles but recovered them all and had no interceptions, so they were +1 on turnovers and they had a three and a half minute advantage in the time of possession. Not really a good excuse.

I remember news articles ahead of the OSU game mentioning that the seasonal flu was ravaging Michigan’s campus at the time. I was pretty worried that our team would take a hit. I hope that Michigan’s athletic department is smart enough to vaccinate all of the players and staff as soon as shots become available every year.

CompleteLunacy

It's funny, Gattis basically calls them soft, and OSU's response to getting their ass beat is the softest whiniest excuses on why they lost: "the weather", "we were sick", etc.

This actually is great, imo. I want them to internalize  all these other excuses why they lost, and not "we were completely and totally unprepared and outcoached".

When Michigan lost to State, Cade didn't blame the officials, didn't say that he was dealing with something, and he didn't throw his teammates under the bus. He just said, "This loss is on me."  Stroud on the other hand... "My team and I were sick."

Good, let Stroud and OSU keep making excuses. They need to find a reason for their destruction. As a team they are mentally weak. They're not going to fix this during one off season.

We beat them once since 2011 and they act like this?  Jeez, if that isn't the epitome of SOFT, not sure what is.

Man o man.... what they going to do if M rolls in next year and beats them again?

Carcajou

December 8th, 2021 at 7:04 PM ^

Good.

I do not need (nor expect) any words of supplication from the vanquished foe. The victory is every bit as sweet without them,

Let them think the flu was all it was, and they have nothing to fix, and keep doing what they've been doing. See ya next year!
