Mods: Does Wolverine Devotee Live?

Submitted by Arizona Blue on

I am sure many of the board are curious of the conclusion to the WD saga. Does he live or did he die? That drama was wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than post STATE apocolypse.

...but driven to mental exhaustion by Brandon/Hoke and the lack of any recent alternative uniforms press releases, he has changed his name to Spartan Devotee...and has already accrued 10,000 Spartan Blog points.

It sort of does:  If you use chrome, you can add the extension Ultra-MGoBoard (link), which allows you to highlight/block users.

However, I haven't used it in a few years, and I'm not sure it works with the current layout of mgoblog.

It's all from the Dave Brandon unverified email incident.  WD made a thread about an email DB sent to a fan—which he stated was from his aunt, or his aunts friend or something.  The email went viral (it got mentioned by Olberman on ESPN) but there was never verified and the FOIA request didn't turn up anything, so it looked like it might have been faked—either by WD (despite multiple claims otherwise) or a friend/family member of WDs.

So I think WolverineDevotee is lying low for a bit until the incident blows over—not unlike WolverineInABag did after the infamous RollDamnTide discovery.

That's probably one of my all time favorite MGoBlog moments.  Essentiall for a couple months beforehand, we had this poster called RollDamnTide, who was a hardcore Alabama fan who posted on our board about various topics, but generally being a pretty respectful fan from a different team.  After a little while he started posting more and more about recruiting, he apparently had some connections with Alabama's donors/recruiting or something, so he was able to get information on certain recruits that weren't available to the public at the time—specifically Ty Isaac.  Anyways, after a while, the whole site more or less falls in love with the dude, he gives us insider info on prospects of mutual interest and isn't an ass as many rival fans are.

Then this thread gets posted by WolverineInABag (who afterwards changed his name to MGoCooper)

Wolverine Devotee posted a supposed email of Dave Brandon responding to a disgruntled fan who said that they were no longer supporting the university.  Brandon basically said something like, "Don't hit the door on the way out.  Michigan doesn't need fans like you... Have a good life."  Anyways, the story went semi-national as Keith Olbermann reported it on his show.  And a couple days ago, the FOIA request to retrieve the email was denied due to the fact that the email likely did not exist at all.  This prompted MGoBlog to consequently blow up and basically crucify WD as conclusions were drawn about WD faking the email.  The validity of the story is still up in the air, but since, WD has not shown his face.... er.... avatar.

He's grounded himself, but I'm not sure the self-imposed sanctions will be enough.  I foresee a serious negbanging on his next comment

If he is taking a self imposed break I hope he returns. He was a helpful source for knowledge about Michigan sports in general, not just football.

There are two places that the email could exist, if real. Brandon's sent mailbox and alleged recipient's inbox. Since the kid immediately started backtracking instead of trying to get the other piece of proof, its clear he's just an unhinged fan that decided to make shit up.

I also used to work for an accounting firm. I don't think I intentionally deleted an email in the 3 years that I worked there. However, I think you are right, since whenever a client got in deep regulatory trouble, our lawyers would hound us to make sure that we didn't delete any emails. They wouldn't bother if deletion wasn't permanent.
